3 (i) SUMMARY Geoogica, magnetometer and eectromagnetic surveys were carried out on behaf of Lytton Mineras Ltd. by Derry, Michener, Booth and Wah on the Victor Stenund caim group in the Heron Bay area, Pic Township, Thunder Bay Mining Division, Ontario, during the period September 0 through September 29, 983, incusive. On the western portion of the caim group, which is underained by interbedded fedspar porphyry, basatic and minor dacitic fows, VLF eectromagnetic surveys outined a reativey strong east-southeast trending anomay which extends from ine 0+00 westwards to ine 8+OOW. East of ine 0+00, the anomay is truncated; this truncation suggests that athough the quadrature response of this anomay is imited, it may refect a bedrock source. The eastern part of the caim group is covered by thick gacia overburden, however, magnetic data indicates that it is probaby underain by a massive mafic intrusion which imits the potentia of this area. In addition, no significant conductors were outined here. A foow-up programme of induced poarization is recommended to test the anomay in the western portion of the caim group. DERRY. MICHENER. 4 INTRODUCTION The foowing report detais the resuts of the geoogica, magnetometer and eectromagnetic surveys carried out on behaf of Lytton Mineras Limited by Derry, Michener, Booth 6c Wah (DMBW) on the Victor Stenund caim group (Figure ). The caim group is situated in the Heron Bay area, Pic Township, Thunder Bay Mining Division and consists of the foowing unpatented mining caims (Figure 2). TB6572 TB6575 TB6573 TB6576 TB6574 The property is readiy accessibe by car southeast from Marathon via Highway 7 and then Highway 629 to Heron Bay. LINE CUTTING The ine cutting was carried out by R 6c R Industries Limited during the period of September 0 through September 20, 983, incusive. The baseine for the survey grid is orientated at 090 O with grid ines trending 000 O at 00 m intervas aong the baseine. Twenty-five metre stations were estabished on a ines. 7 - 4 - GEOLOGICAL SURVEYS The Heron Bay area is underain by a west-northwest striking, steepy northward dipping succession of fesic to intermediate vocanic rocks comprising fows and pyrocastics with some interbedded metasedimentary rocks. These rocks are of Archean age (about 2.7 biion years od) and have been intruded by the Heron Bay Bathoith as we as a number of younger gabbro and fesite dykes. Most of the property is underain by thick gacia cover, except in the west on caim TB6575, where a sequence of interbedded fedspar porphyry fows, basatic fows and esser dacitic tuffs in exposed. These units strike at approximatey 080 O and dip steepy northwards. DERRY. MICHENER. BOOTH S WAHL

8 - 5 - GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS The ground geophysica surveys were carried out during the period from September 8 through September 29, 983, incusive, under the direct supervision of W. N. Pearson, Ph.D. Magnetometer Survey The magnetometer survey was carried out using a Scintrex MP-2 tota fied proton precession magnetometer. The tota magnetic fied intensity data was recorded at 2.5 m stations at an eevation of 2 m above ground eve, with a sensitivity of j^ nt. Dinurna fuctuations were monitored using a Scintrex MBS- 2 base station recording magnetometer and a data was adjusted accordingy. The magnetic data is presented as corrected station vaues, above the oca background of 58,000 nt and as a contoured interpretation of these data. The eastern part of the property is characterized by moderatey high magnetic reief, ranging from 200 to 2400 nt. This is part of a broad regiona anomay which probaby refects a massive mafic intrusion. To the west the magnetic pattern is more sinuous refecting the interbedded intermediate to mafic vocanics; higher vaues up to 200 nt occur over the more mafic units as compared to a background of 700 nt over more fesic portions. The magnetic high on ine 0+00 at station 9+OON is ikey caused by a sma gabbro dyke. Magnetic contours between ines 0+00 and +OOE are partiay truncated, suggesting that a north-south trending faut may be present between these two ines. DERRY, MICHENER, BOOTH ft WAHL

9 - 6 - VLF Eectromagnetic Survey The VLF Eectromagnetic survey was carried out using a Geonics EM-6 unit. The VLF in-phase and quadrature response parameters were recorded with an accuracy of * 96 at 25 m stations. The transmitting station used during the survey is ocated in Cuter, Maine and broadcasts at an assigned frequency of 7.8 Hz. A data was potted as ine profies at a vertica scae of cm = 096. In the northwestern and centra part of the caim group, a broad anomay extends from ines 8W eastwards to ine 0+00 where it appears to be abrupty truncated by a probabe faut. Athough the quadrature response associated with this anomay is reativey fat, the apparent truncation of the conductor to the east suggests that it may refect a bedrock source rather than conductive overburden. VLF eectromagnetic response in the eastern portion of the property is very fat with ony weak in-phase anomaies refecting weaky conductive overburden. DERRY, MICHENER, BOOTH ft WAHL

10 - 7 - CONCLUSIONS The western portion of the property from ine 0+00 to ine 8+OOW is the most favourabe area for foow-up work particuary the reativey strong eastsoutheast trending VLF eectromagnetic conductor which trends diagonay across this area. Athough the quadrature response of this anomay is imited, the apparent truncation east of ine 0+00 suggest that it may refect a bedrock conductor. The eastern part of the caim group, athough covered by thick gacia overburden appears to be underain by a massive mafic intrusion imiting the potentia of this area. In addition, no significant conductors were outined here. RECOMMENDATIONS A foow-up programme of induced poarization is recommended to test the anomay in the western portion of the property.
