52KMNEeaSI GERRY LAKE 010 REPORT OX MAGNETOMETER AMD VLF-EM SURVEYS DIXIE - SOUTH BAY PROJECT GERRY LAKE AREA NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO PROPERTY 24, GRID l PROPERTY 2], GRID l PROPERTY 23, GRID 2 l c l IV l A.P. Pryslak August, 1985 APP/Iop

PROPERTY 24, GRID l a) INTRODUCTION: VLF-EM and magnetometer surveys were initiated to provide aid in interpretation of stratigraphy and structural trends in an area extensively covered by overburden. The? surveys were carried out in March, b) LOCATION AND ACCESS: The property consists of twenty - two contigious claims situated in the southwest part of the Uchi Greenstone belt, midway between Ear Falls and the South Bay mine site. The claims straddle the Troutlake River and fall within the Gerry Lake claim sheet, G The South Bay road passes within one mile of the property to the east and a logging access road lies within one-half mile of the northwest corner of the claim block. c) H ISTORY OF EXPLORATION; Previous work in the area has been carried out by Caravelle Mines,Erzgellschaft M.H.B. and Selco. Work consisted of magnetometer and HLEM surveys and di amond dri11 i ng. d) RESULTS OF THE MAGNETOMETER SURVEY; The magnetic low feature that extends from 4N at the west part of the grid to 16N at 7200E essentially separates the mafic volcanics to the north from the felsic to intermediate volcanics occurring to the south. The magnetic low may actually represent a granite i ntrusi on. The magnetic anomaly on lines 60 and 64E and 4N is produced by an ultramafic intrusive. The short mag. anomaly just north of the base line at 20E and the long trend anomaly extending from 96E to 112E are both produced by pyrrhotite mineralization

- 2 - intersected by previous drilling. Other positive magnetic features are likely due to magnetite within felsic volcanics. e) RESULTS OF THE VLF-KM SURVEY: A simple bedrock conductor was identified. This conductor is associated with the high mag anomaly situated in the east part of the grid and was tested by Caravel 3 Mines in Drill logs indicate pyrrho tite' mineralization with minor sphalerite. A single line anomaly of low amplitude occurs at 2350N on 112E. It is associated with a low positive magnetic response and is likely due to minor pyrrhotite within the volcanics. Resistive-conductive trends strike at an azimuth of SO 0. These generally are reflected as bedrock topography and some of these features are shown on plan SB f) CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS; The results of the magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys were conducted to aid in interpretation of bedrock lithologies and structural trends. The extension of known zones of basemetal mineralization will by tested by a time-domain E.M. system.

- 3 - PROPERTY 21, GRID l a) INTRODUCTION: Parts of this grid were previously surveyed by Crone DEEPEM. The grid was expanded to the south and west and surveyed by VLF-KM and magnetometer in January, This data will aid in interpretation of the bedrock lithologies, trends and structures. b) LOCATION AND ACCESS: The property is situated in the Gerry Lake area (G-1782) and the road to the South Bay mine site passes through the southeast part of the grid. c) HISTORY OF EXPLORATION; All previous work in the area has been carried out b y S elco. The property was restaked in 1983 and portions were surveyed with the Crone DEEPEN! system. d) RESULTS OF THE MAGNETOMETER SURVEY: Two prominent mag netic anomalies occur on the surveyed area. The north anomaly is situated with a pyrrhotite-bearing conductor in felsic volcanics. The felsics also contain 5 to 10/i disseminated magnet i to. The high positive magnetic anomaly on the south part of the grid is associated with magnetite-bearing felsic volcanics. A pyrrhotite-bearing zone of mineralization is known to occur on the north flank of the anomaly. e) RESULTS OF THE VI.F-EH SURVEY; A very weak response to a known zone of sulphide mineralization identified in drill core is seen on lines 81E and 84E and 8. All other responses appear to be due to conductive overburden than structural features.

- 4 - f) CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS; The magnetometer survey results identify stratigraphic trends. The VLF-EM responses are due to surficial conductivity and are of little use in interpretation of bedrock trends.... /5

- 5 - PjiQPERTY 23, GRID 2 a) INTRODUCTION: The area encompassed by this grid j s extensively covered by a thin mantle of overburden with only the rare exposure of bedrock. The magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys wore initiated to aid in interpretation of bedrock stratigraphy and structure. b) LOCATION AND ACCESS; The claims are located in the Gerry Lake claim sheet (G-1782). The baseline along the northwest part of the property follows the South Bay road. c; ) HISTORY OF EXPLORATION; All previous work in the area has been carried out by Selco. Noranda are currently working on claims adjoining to the north. d ) RESULTS OF THE MAGNETOMETER SURVEY; A prominent east- trending positive magnetic anomaly occurs across the entire grid. This feature is associated with magnetite-bearing rhyolites, which appear to thicken towards the east. parallel trends occur to the north; (1) on lines 44E and 48E at 9S and US, respectively and (2) on lines 60, 64 and 68E and at 378, 18SO and 20S. The first anomaly has a coincident conductor which has been tested by drilling. Two This conductor is due to pyrrhotite. The second magnetic anomaly has no known conductor but is likely due to a pyrrhotite-bearing sulphide f.ono. e) RESULTS OF THE VLF-EM SURVEY: The conductor in the east part of the grid has previously been tested by diamond drill ing and is due to massive sulphides. The weaker conductor on lines 132E and 116E and 55S has not been previously identi fied.... /6

- 6 - f ) CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The magnetometer survey indicates that magnetite-bearing felsic volcanics persist through the claims. A time-domain E.M. survey is recommended for this grid.

Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources AMENDED Notice of Intent for Technical Reports /90-85 An examination of your survey report indicates that the requirements of The Ontario Mining Act have not been fully met to warrant maximum assessment work credits. This notice is merely a warning that you will not be allowed the number of assessment work days credits that you expected and also that in approximately 15 days from the above date, the mining recorder will be authorized to change the entries on his record sheets to agree with the enclosed statement. Please note that until such time as the recorder actually changes the entry on the record sheet, the status of the claim remains unchanged. If you are of the opinion that these changes by the mining recorder will jeopardize your claims, you may during the next fifteen days apply to the Mining and Lands Commissioner for an extension of time. Abstracts should be sent with your application. If the reduced rate of credits does not jeopardize the status of the claims then you need not seek relief from the Mining and Lands Commissioner and this Notice of Intent may be disregarded. If your survey was submitted and assessed under the "Special Provision-Performance and Coverage" method and you are of the opinion that a re-appraisal under the "Man-days" method would result in the approval of a greater number of days credit per claim, you may, within the said fifteen day period, submit assessment work breakdowns listing the employees names, addresses and the dates and hours they worked. The new work breakdowns should be submitted direct to the Land Management Branch, Toronto. The report will be re-assessed and a new statement of credits based on actual days worked will be issued. 846 (82/5)
