3 / Summary Encouraging geochemical responses have been encountered on the Chapleau Group of Reverted Crown Grants. Additional soil sampling, prospecting and electromagnetic surveys are recommended to evaluate the potential of the property

4 L 3, Introduction The Chapleau Group is located in southeastern B.C. approximately 6 km east of the Nelson-Slocan Highway on Chapleau Creek, a tributary of Lemon Creek (Figure 1). Logging roads provide access to the property. Clear cut logging methods have removed all timber in the immediate area of interest. Outcrop exposure is poor and primarily limited to stream channels. Overburden cover is variable, probably ranging up to 10 m but probably averaging less than 1 m. Mineral Claims Legal Lot 5977 Rita Lot 5978 Louise Fr. Lot 5980 Record No Record No Record No Geology and Mineralization The property is wholly underlain by Nelson Grainte (Little, 1960). Quartz veins mineralized with pyrite and minor galena and sphalerite were reported on the Chapleau Group as early as 1899 (Reports to the Minister of Mines). Documented gold and silver values normally range from 0.1 to 0.4 oz/ton Au and 0.5 to 10 ozlton Ag across 4 cm to 2 m vein widths on the Chapleau Group and surrounding properties (Reports to the Minister of Mines, 19'00, 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904).

6 3 Geochemical Survey Twenty soil samples were collected (Figure 2) from B horizon material and geochemically analyzed for Pb and Ag. The results are shown in Figures 3 and 4. Sample GS-3 is a highly anomalous site and in close proximity to an old sloughed-in work pit. No sulphide mineralization is evident. Follow-up prospecting in the immediate vicinity was unsuccessful in locating bedrock or float material that may represent the source of the anomaly. Conclusions An encouraging soil anomaly has been identified on the Louise Fraction. Poor bedrock exposures precludes systematic prospecting in this area and further evaluation w i l l require the use of additional soil and rock geochemical surveys and, possibly, geophysical surveys. Recommendations A program to include detailed soil sampling, rock sampling, a VLF electromagnetic survey and regional prospecting is recommended to evaluate a known geochemical anomaly, and provide additional information on the apparent strike of any mineralized structure or feature. Gold analysis should be considered for selected soils and any rock chip sampling work.
