4 INTRODUCTION During the period September inclusive, 1970 Tri-Con Exploration Surveys Ltd., on behalf of Summit Oils Ltd. conducted a program of induced polarization surveying on the W.B. claim group located some 32 miles northeast of Smithers, B.C. in the Omineca Mining Division, Province of British Columbia. - The purpose, of the induced polarization survey, was to examine an area of anomalous reconnaissance copper and zinc geochemical values, for chargeable material indicative of sulphide mineralization. PROPERTY The W.B. claim group consists of some 32 full-sized contiguous mineral claims listed as follows: W.B inclusive The induced polarization survey was c.onducted on mineral claims W.B. 11, 12, 13, 14, 27 and 29. LOCATION AND ACCESS The W.B. claim is situated at 54' 58' North latitude and 126' 26' West longitude, some 32 miles northeast of Smithers, B.C. near the headwaters of Broughton Creek and some 8 miles due west of the Newman Peninsula, Babine Lake, in the Omineca Mining Division. N.T.S. 93L/16 Access to the property is north on the road to Smithers Landing and then east for some 8 miles on an unimproved bush road which turns off some 4 miles north of Doris Lake. SURVEY SPECIFICATIONS Survey Grid The survey grid consisted of north-south lines turned off every 400 feet from an east-west base line and flagged at 100 foot intervals. Some 4.5 line miles of survey grid were cut and some 4.5 line miles of induced polarization surveying were conducted.

5 -2- The Induced Polarization Survey The induced polarization survey was conducted with a Hewitt 1KW I.P. transient pulse type unit deployed in the Wenner electrode configuration with an "a" spacing and traverse interval of 200 feet. In the pulse (also known as time domain) method a steady direct current is impressed into the ground for a few seconds, abruptly terminated for a short time (usually equal to the length of pulse time) and then a steady current is impressed in the reverse direction for a few seconds and then abruptly terminated for a few seconds. This is one cycle which can be repeated. A fraction of a second after each cessation of the current pulse the decay voltage is integrated and measured. The current and total integrated primary voltage and total integrated decay voltage are then recorded for the given number of cycles. From these three measurements the chargeability in millivolts/volt. and apparent resistivity in ohm-feet are calculated. The values calculated are then plotted at the center position of the array for a given set of readings. Data Presentation. The survey data accompanying this report as contour maps,. at a horizontal scale of one.inch equals 400 feet as follows: Figure 2 Induced polarization; percent chargeability (millivolts/volt) contoured at an interval of two mv/v to a level of 8 mv/v. Figure 3 Induced polarization-resistivity (ohm-feet) contoured at 200, 300, 450, 500 and 600 ohm-feet levels. DISCUSSION OF RESULTS The 1969 reconnaissance soil sampling program located an area of interesting coincident copper and zinc geochemical anomalies in the northern sector of the claim group. The topography of the area varies from flat to hilly and is generally covered by a layer of moss and is, in places, quite swampy.

6 -3- Soil profiling and ph testing located a good ion transporting "B" horizon consisting of oxidized sandy clay type soil existing approximately 12" beneath the moss cover. The geochemical anomalies are therefore considered valid, in that they are representative of other than organic trap zones. The 1970 induced polarization program consisted of a small amount of reconnaissance surveying over the most interesting coincident copperzinc geochemical anomaly. The induced polarization resistivity data showed moderate variation from a low of 103 ohm-feet to a hi&\ of 3000 ohm-feet, which can be attributed to variations in the conductivity and depth of the overburden. The chargeability data varied from a background of some 2.0 mv/v to a high of 39.0 mv/v in a well-defined chargeability anomaly located in claim 27. Correlation of the reconnaissance soil sampling results and the induced polarization data indicates a direct correlation between the chargeability and geochemical anomalies. The inference, therefore, is that the chargeability anomaly may possibly be related to copper and zinc min- eralization. - CONCLUSIONS A small amount of reconnaissance induced polarization surveying was conducted over an interesting anomaly on the W.B. claim group, property of Summit Oils Ltd. in the Omineca Mining Division, B.C. The induced polarization survey located an area of relatively strong chargeability response which shows a direct correlation with anomalous geochemical values of copper and zinc. RECOMMENDATIONS 1. Conduct a program of detail soil sampling over this survey area and extend the sampling to the north and east to cover the open-ended I.P. anomalies.
