3 Report on a Geochemical Survey on the Loop Property Noranda Exploration Company, Limited INTRODUC!rION The Loop Property referred to in this report is located approximately 22 miles southwest of Germansen Landing, B.C. on a tributary of Twenty Mile Creek. Access to the property was by contract helicopter from Germansen Landing to a helicopter pad within the claim group. Elevations range from 4,750 to 5,750 feet on the property. The geochemical survey along with necessary line preparation was

5 carried out by a two man Noranda Exploration Company, Limited geochemical crew and a two man contract line cutting crew under the direction and supervision of G.E. Dirom, P. Eng., J.D. Knauer, and T. Pearse between July 5 and July 30, GENERAL GEOWGY (~rom prospecting report by T. ~earse) : The Loop property is believed underlain by Takla Group volcanic rocks, how- ever, outcrops are scarce below treeline. It is situated approximately 1% miles east of the Hogem Batholith - Takla Group contact and is approximately due east of the Pinchi Fault. miles The Takla Group rocks exposed in the cirque headwall surrounding the southern portion of the property, consist largely of green non- porphyritic andesite and a greenish-hued volcanic breccia. Less abundant rock units noted include purple andesites (both amygdaloidal and non-amygdaloidal), pur- ple andesitic flow-breccias, and a green, porphyritic hornblende andesite. Copper mineralization occurs in all these rocks as rare blebs of chalcopyrite in calcareous and quartz-stringers and as malachite staining in these veins and along adjacent fractures. Epidotization of ferromagnesian minerals is the common rock alteration noted. G,S.C. Memoir 252, Fort St. James Map - Area, Cassiar and Coast District, British Columbia (J. E. Armst rong, 1949) provides an insight into the regional geological setting of the Loop property. GRID PREPARATION: To carry out the geochemical survey, a grid was laid out to cover the known areas of interest on the Loop property. A cut base line designated E was established in a north-south direction for a distance of 6,000 feet. Utilizing this base line, 8 east-west grid lines were chained, flagged, and picketed. Stations were established at 100-f oot intervals where practical on all grid lines. A tie line parallel to the base line was established at E for control. A two man contract line cutting crew developed the 7 miles of line on this property. GEOCHEMICAL SOIL SURVEY: All samples were analyzed for copper, zinc, and molybdenum in the Noranda Exploration Company, Limited laboratory located at 1050 Davie Street, Vancouver, B. C., analyst, Evert vanleeuwen.

6 Sampling Method: Samples were obtained by digging holes with a shovel and steel bar, to a depth at which the visible grey C Horizon or sub-outcrop was encountered. The C Horizon was sampled and the lower part of the B Horizon, where visible, was also sampled. The samples were placed in "Hi Wet Strength Kraft 3 1/2 x 6 1/8 Open Endn envelopes and the grid station location was marked on the envelopes with indelible felt pens. Soil samples were taken at 200-foot intervals along the grid line s. Labor at ory Determination Method: The samples are first hung in a drying cabinet for a period of 24 to 48 hours. They are then mechanically screened and sifted to obtain a -80 mesh fraction. The determination procedure for total copper, zinc and total molybdenum is as follows: grams of -80 mesh material is digested in 2 ml. of HClO and ml. of HNO for approximately four hours. Following digestion each sample is 3 diluted to 5 ml. with demineralized H20. A Varian Techtron Model AA-5 Atomic Absorption spectrophotometer was used to determine the parts per million Cu, Zn, and Mo in each sample. The theory of Atomic Absorption spectrophotometry is fully described in the literature and will not be described in this report. PRESENTATION OF RESULTS : Results of the Geochemical Soil Survey are presented and contoured on plan maps at a scale of 1" = L+OOV. Tot a1 copper and tot a1 zinc are plotted on Drawing Mo. 1. Total molybdenum is plotted on Drawing No. 2. Copper values greater than l4o p.p.m. are outlined by solid lines. Zinc values greater than 130 p.p.m. are outlined by dotted lines. DISCUSSION OF RESULTS : Values for total copper range from a background of less than 60 p.p.m. to anomalous values greater than 14.0 p,p.m. Total zinc values range from a background of less than 80 p.p.m. to anomalous values greater than 130 p.p.m. Total molyb- 0 denum values were all less than 2 p. p.m. Results for total copper indicate anoma-

7 lous values as outlined in Dwg, 1. The most interesting values occur in the central portion of the claim group and extend both north and south. Total zinc results do not show significant areas of interest. In the interpretation of the results of the geochemical soil survey the following factors must be considered. 1. Distance between grid lines. 2. Steep topography, giving rise to abundant talus slopes. 3. Swampy conditions in lower areas. 4. Transported overburden. 5. Poor soil development at the majority of the sample sites. The above may distort the geochemical picture, however the degree of dis- tortion can not be ascertained without further information, e.g. closer line spacing and more profile sampling. RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS : Very steep terrain and extensive talus prohibit additional soil geochemistry in certain areas of the claim group, however additional soils at intermediate 400- foot line spacing in the areas previously covered is warranted. The additional soil geochemistry in conjunction with detailed geologic mapping and a possible I.P. study will determine further work. Respectfully submitted, Gavin E. Dirom, P.Eng.
