3 CLAW ASSESSMENT REPORT INTRODUCTION In the period August 9 - August 7 a geochemical soil survey for total silver, zinc and molybdenum was completed on the Claw -20 mineral claims. The claims are located approximately ten miles west of Chukachida Lake in the Liard Mining Division, British Columbia, and cover an easterly facing double cirque where elevations range from 4500 feet to 6000 feet. The centre of the claim group is at latitude and longitude 57'37'N, 27 9W (N.T.S. 94E/ll) and in the Stikine Range of the Cassiar Mountains. Access to the property was by helicopter from Johanson Lake which is localized a distance of approximately 80 miles to the southeast. The Claw -8 claims were staked on July 29, 973 and recorded August 6, 973 and the Claw 9-20 claims were staked on August 5, 973 and recorded on September 0, 973. GENERAL GEOLCGY The entire claims area appears to be underlain by volcanic rocks presumed to be of the Upper Triassic - Lower Jurassic Takla Group. The volcanics consist mainly of dark basalts, grey, black or purple in colour, which are massive, fine-grained, usually porphyritic rocks with prominent plagioclase and/or pyroxene phenocrysts. Some andesite is also present. Generally the volcanics appear fresh and unaltered. GRID CONTROL A base line was' established bearing 030' across the claim block, parallel to the claim lines, by use'of a "Topofoil chain" and compass. The line was marked by coloured flagging at stations measured at 200 foot intervals along 'The Topofoil chain is a "lost" thread measuring device in which a counter accurately records in feet from 0 to 5,000 feet the length of thread unreeling from the unit when measuring a length or distance covered. The operator attaches the end of the thread to a fixed point, the counter is set at zero and the operator moves on foot carrying the Topofoil chain. As the thread unwinds, the counter records the length. The counter readout is accurate to $; on completion of a measurement the counter is reset at zero. The biodegradeable thread is cut and abandoned.

5 2 the line. The station coordinates were marked on the flagging by felt marker pen. Additional sample lines were established using compass and Topofoil chain parallel to the base line with the lines spaced 400 feet or 800 feet apart with samples taken at stations at 200 foot spacings along the lines. The grid was tied into the claim posts and obvious tupographic features. I GEOCHEMICAL SOIL SURvEJl Methods In the course of the survey a total of 78 samples were collected over 5.2 line miles of grid, and subsequently analysed for zinc, molybdenum and silver. At each sampling site a hole was dug with a mattock and 4-6 ounces of rrbrr horizon soil was taken with a stainless steel trowel. The soil was placed in a high wet strength Kraft sample bag and appropriately marked. The writer was in the field on August 9 to organize the survey on the Claw -8 claims and to study the geology, and on August 5 to stake the Claw 9-20 claims and organize the extension of the soil survey onto these additional claims. The soil sampling was undertaken by B. Wong and R. Walker in the period from August 0 to August 7, 973. Analvtical Treatment of Soil Samles The soil samples were analysed by Core Laboratories in Vancouver. samples were dried in their respective sample bags at a temperature of 20 F and then sieved to -80 mesh through a nylon screen. were digested for three hours in a 50% perchloric, SO$ nitric acid mixture, bulked with deionized water, and analysed by atomic absorption. Results The prepared samples Statistical plots of cumulative frequency versus concentration have been plotted on Figures 2 and 3 for silver and zinc, respectively. examination of the molybdenum results indicates that no significant anomalous patterns are present (see Figure 6). Statistical analysis of the silver results defines two populations of ppm silver and +.3 ppm silver; the.9 ppm -.3 ppm range is a zone of overlap. The Qualitative Anomalous silver values

8 3 are considered to be those of the +.3 ppm population (see Figure 2). of this population occur as isolated and erratic spot highs and small narrow linear anomalies and show no well defined pattern (see Figure L). Statistical analysis of the zinc results defines three populations of 0-30 ppm, LO-80 ppm, and +I30 ppm zinc; the 3040 ppm and 80-0 ppm ranges are zones of overlap (see Figure 3). Population one and two represent background values; a distribution possibly due to topographic relief. but represents only two percent of the values and forms no significant pattern (see Figure 5). CONCLUSIONS AND RFCOMMEMlATIONS Values Population three is possibly anomalous,. 2. A geochemical soil survey performed on the Claw -20 mineral claims showed no defined anomalous patterns for molybdenum, silver or zinc.
