"f ' jp:.v. -Vt*^.--' - --: i-' INTRODUCTION ;f Mr. Gerry Longhurst of 4 Churchill Street, Wawa, Ontario has i submitted 6 unpatented mining claims for our consideration. The claims are in Echum township, about 20 miles northwest of Wawa. The claims cover a known gold-silver showing. The property was visited by myself and Mr. Longhurst on Oct. 10, LOCATION The claim group consists of 6 unpatented contiguous mining claims. The claims are numbered to 03, to 02. The claim group is located in the northwest corner of Echum Twp. near the west end of Ballard Lake. The claims are near the village of Dalton, on Hwy. 651, 20 miles north of Hwy. 101 west, approximately midway between Wawa and Chapleau. A bush road borders the southern claims. PREVIOUS WORK Extensive earlier trenching by Joe Davies ir the early sixties and some recent trenchj.ng by G. Longhurst. No diamond drilling is known. The property has been examined by a number of other exploration companies and turned down. In early 1980 a grid was cut and a magnetic and VLF survey was undertaken by Koranda. A few weak conductors where outlined. ~~ GENERAL The showing consis'^ of a single narrow vein with an average width of 1.5' to 0.5'. The vein is exposed for ^9tT.. The vein *-o' f loe occurs along the contact between granite and mafic volcanics. The volcanics immediately adjacent the contact area approximate a amphibolite schist. The vein is weakly mineralized with pyrite.

3 . e ^tt&h^w tump** v;s '- '' K'* "V "- 1 '* ' -' -' ''-' values from trace to 0.24 Au and trace to 0.70 Ag oz./tbn. ;A^ v sample of the amphibolite schist ran trace Au and Ag. The best. assay was a grab sample of quartz material on trench banks. The remainder of the samples yield low values. A sample of a rusty carbonate rich volcanic rock was given to me for Au assay by Mr. Longhurst. The rock is said to come from near the #1 post claim # This sample gave trace values. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Due to low and erratic assay results, combined with the narrow size of the vein, the property warrants no further work by Noranda Exploration at this time. The VLF conductors are very weak and may well be an overburden effect. There are no airborne conductors in this vicinity. John A. Wakeford Geologist
