2 During the later part of May and r.he early part of June 1974 magnetometer and V.L.F. EM-16 surveys were conducted ovtr four {4} claims held by Asarco Exploration Company under option from R. Knappet. The surveys were; carried out by Company personnel c*ne equipment. The results obtained are depicted on the maps accompanying this report. Ground magnetometer and V.L.F. EM-16 surveys were carried out over four claims held under option by Asarco. Results of the magnetometer survey indicated that the property is underlain by volcanics and that a small basic intrusive is to bc found lying through the central portion. The EM-16 survey located a number of conductive zones. One of the zones outlines the southern contact of the intrusive, whilst another partially outlines the north contact. These zones are weak conductors and are probably due to weakly disseminated. sulphides along the contact. A third zone is to be found lying across the northern portion of the claim group, this too is due to a weak conductor. From the data availfible at this date it would appear that no major sulphide deposit is to be found on the property, it is therefore recommended that no further work be undertaken at this time. PjvOPEJRTY., LOCATION AND ACCESS The property discussed in this report, consists of a group of

3 four (4) contiguous raining claims numbered as follows; The property is l oc cited in the Bedivere Lake area of Western Ontario, in the Thunder Bay Mining Division, approximately 35 miles west of Atikokan and some 20 miles north-west from Kasha bowie. Access to the property is by bush aircraft to Chief Peter Lake and thence by bush trail one mile south. INSTKUJ^'lHT AND SURVEY DATA The surveys were conducted over a previously established grid system. Picket lines were oriented approximately N20 OW and were spaced at 400 foot intervals. The lines were picketed every JL&ILJLfieji., A total of jjjlmiles of base and picket lines were established. The magnetometer survey was carried out using a Scintr^y MF-2. Fluxgate magnetometer.. This unit measures variations in the vertical component of the earth's magnetic field to an accuracy of of the full scale. Sensitivity of the unit is 20 gammab per scale division. The data collected was plotted and contoured. A totcil of 195 stations were read covering 3.6 miles of line. The electromagnetic survey was conducted using a Gconics EM-1.6. V.L.F. unit. The V.L.F. method, is passive in that it employes -cho radiation of poxverful military radio transmitters as the primary signal, in this instance Seattle was used operating on K,Il;i... In the field the EM-16 receiver was used to measure the vertical components of the secondary fields created by the primary signal. The receiver has two inputs, with two receiving coils built into the instrument. One coil has a normally vertical axis, the other is horizontal and parallel to the primary field. The signal from the vertical axis coil is first minimized by tilting the instrument, the tilt-angle is calibrated in percentages, this is the in-phasc component. The out-of-phc.se is obtained by balancing out the

4 the remaining signal by using a known signal from the other coil 1'he accuracy of the reading is ~ l -i resolution. A total of 180 in-phase reading and 180 out-of -phase readings were taken at 100 foot intervals over 3.2 miles of line, The main feature of the magnetometer survey is the prominent "high" located through the central portion of claim group, bordered by relatively little magnetic relief. The interpre tation of this is that a small basic intrusive some 1000 feet in width cuts across the property through sedimentary rocks. As the survey had to be terminated at the v/est boundary of the claims, there is insufficient data available to show conclusively, but it does appear that the intrusive plug is cut by a fault aear line 12W. The EM-16 survey indicated a number of conductive zones of varying intensity. However it can be stated that no anomaly is due to ci massive sulphide deposit, in fact the indications are that the conductive zones are poor conductors probably lying close to surface. Such a conductor could be caused by weakly disseminated sulphides. The most southerly conductor appears to indicate the southern contact of the small basic intrusive and the sedimentary rocks. The northern contact is not completely defined by the EM-16 survey. A third conductive zone is incicated by the survey lying.-.cross the northern portion of the claims, this is probably due to a shear zone within the sedimentary rocks. Other similar, but shorter zones were also located, these too, probably are due to weak disseminations of mineralization. As no major conductive zone was located further work is suggested at this time.
