GEOLOGICAL SURVEY GENOA TOWNSHIP PROPERTY RUSH LAKE EXPLORATIONS LIMITED SUMMARY The following report describes the results of a geological ^survey conducted over the land portion of a group of twenty mining claims held by Rush Lake Explorations Limited and located in Genoa Township. Sudbury -MiriincLJ^ijV-i-sJ-Qii^- Ontario. This work was carried out during the first half of June The results are shown on a plan on the scale of one inch to four hundred feet and accompanying this report. over the claims group in ^March^^ 19.7JL' and the report covering the geophysical work recommended a geological survey of the property before proceeding with a program of diamond drilling. The geological mapping, has indicated some conditions of possible economic interest and which conform with anomalous conditions suggested by the geophysical work. It is now recommended that Rush Lake Explorations Limited carry out a limited amount of diamond drilling to further investigate the favourable zones as indicated by the geophysical and geological surveys. A minimum of 700 feet of-drilling is suggested as the initial phase of this work which can b\a carried out using a small drill and at a cost of seven thousand dollars. PROPERTY, LOCATION AND ACCESS The property discussed in this report consists of a group of twenty mining claims located in the north part of Genoa Town*- ship, District of Sudbury, Ontario. The north boundary of the ii township forms the north boundary of the claims group. The south - J. D.

3 (2). east corner of the property underlies Rush Lake. Genoa Township is located 60 miles southwest of Timmins and 12 miles west of the C.N.R. line running north from Capreol through Gogama. The area can be reached by plane from Gogama, the distance being 17 miles. It is also possible to drive to the south end of Rush Lake and then by boat to the claims group. The claims included in the group are further described as to inclusive. TOPOGRAPHY Much of the ground included in the property is characterized by low wet swamp and marsh, especially in the ^south part but rising to higher ground towards the north end. A ridge o f high ground extends in an east-west direction through the central part of the property. Three claims and a portion of a fourth claim, underly Rush Lake. Three small beaver ponds and several small streams would supply water for diamond drilling. There is a very definite paucity of rock exposures, and those that do exist, are usually quite small. The mantle of overburden especially in the areas of higher ground is believed to be quite thin. GEOLOGY The formations occurring on the claims group can be divided into two main groups, a.syenitic cystalune group in the south jart and a metasedimentarv group in the jiorth. A.M. Goodwin in Ontario Department of Mines report number 38, which accompanies map number 2067, describes this syenite as part of a large intrusive granitic batholith which would be part of the Kenoran orogeny in present G.S.C. terminology. No sharp contact between the cystalline and metasedimentary rocks was observed on the claims group discussed in this report. J. X). MoOANNELL

4 (3) The sedimentary and metasedimentary group is made up largely of rocks composed of mafic minerals. They include a considerable amount of massive to schistose argillite, but at north, there is an east-west band of a hard metamorphosed formation that resembles an adesite flow. The mafic sediments are intercalated A with bands of talcy greenstone, pyroxenite, gabbro and a rock resembling normal arkose. The greenstone, pyroxenite and gabbro are actually of sedimentary origin and represent highly meta morphosed rocks with some calcareous content. Iron formation is associated with these metasediments and appears to lie near the contact between these formations and the syenite. The general strike of the sedimentary rocks is east-west, but near Rush Lake the strike is north-south probably representing a localized condition existing in the original formations. Iron formation outcrops between lines 12-W and 16-W from 9+00 north to north. Fine white quartz is intercalated with magnetite in seams six inches wide. There are not sufficient 6 outcrps to trace the east-west extension of this zone, but it appears to be part of the large regional band of iron formation extending for over ten miles through the area of Marion and Genoa townships. Lead and zinc sulphide mineralization has been observed at several locations along the strike of this regional zone. The nearest showing is just less than a mile to the west of the Rush Lake Explorations Limited claims group. A zone of chlorite schist and chlorite talc schist, some of it being crinkle schist, extends across the property from north on line 12-East to north on line 40-West. The crinkle schist is best developed around north on line 12-West where there are cross fractures in the east-we^t schistosity. Disseminated J. D. MOOANNBLL,

5 .(4) pyrite is much in evidence throughout this zone of schistosity. A quartz vein varying from one to four feet in width was also observed in this schist at north on line 12-East. At north on line 36-West, a band of feldspar porphyry was noted lying immediately to the south of the schist zone.this rock is badly fractured and re-cemented with quartz which forms a fine stockwork and carries considerable pyrite and pyrrhotite. A small amount of graphite was noted along the north side of this porphyry. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS The geological mapping in conjunction with the geophysical work has indicated four zones of possible economic interest. (1) At north on line 12-W, a high magnetic anomaly over iron formation. Diamond drill hole should be drilled north east to cross north-west faulting with main attention to south side of iron formation. Potential lead-zinc mineral ization with the possibility of copper as well. (2) At north on line 36-W, Quartz stockwork in feldspar porphyry and adjacent E.M. anomaly. Possibility of gold associated with pyrite and pyrrhotite in porphyry. (3) At north on line 12-W, crenulated schist zone with strong indications of northwest faulting provide favourable environment for mineral deposition. (4) At north on line O, Strong E.M. anomaly with a rapid change in the sedimentary alteration of the rocks varying from arkose to argillite, appears to be favourable conditions for possible sulphide mineralization. It is recommended that Rush Lake Explorations Limited proceed with a program of diamond drilling to further investigate the zones as set out above. The initial phase of this drilling program should be a minimum of 700 feet which out using a Winkie diamond drill. The estimat is seven thousand dollars. Toronto, Ontario July 5, 1972.
