2 INTRODUCTION A party consisting of A. Kopare, engineer and P. Freeman, assistant left Toronto May 26th for the property and returned to Toronto on July 13th g-. -- From July 13th to July 24th was spent in the office compiling the data, drafting the map and writing the report. The operation -was under the supervision of G. E. Moody, P. Eng. PROPERTY " The property now consists of 63 unpatented mining claims stretching along Rex Lake for a distance of 8 miles. are: - Old Group;- West Block ~ - ^ ' - -~ ",..: Consists of 21 contiguous unpatented mining claims whose numbers K incl. The remaining five staked claims tie on to the East Block of the original group and are numbered as follows:- ~ K incl. LOCATION AND ACCESS :: 3 The property lies 65 miles north of Kenora and about 10 east of the Gordon Lake Mine of Consolidated Canadian Faraday Mine. Access is by float or ski equipped plane from Kenora. Or by a mine access road originating in the Bird River Area Manitoba and re terminating at the mine at Gordon Lake, thence by plane or canoe to Rex Lake. ; GENERAL GEOLOGY - - i- - --TT - - ~~, " "' ' " ~9 - ' - --j^t" The rocks of the area consist of meta sediments (quartzite, quartz* ''~-~'-'-" -, ~.3iS *- -ds ,-iji, biotite paragneiss, garnetiferous paragneiss and amphibolite) quartz 'i^- diorite, granite and lenses of peridotite and associated mafic rocks. The meta sediments are the oldest rocks and have been highly folded and extensive lit-par-lit injection of the paragneiss by the quartz diorite has taken place. A period of major faulting followed the emplacement of the quartz i diorite. Many of the faults are of considerable magnitude, being as :^

4 3. much as 15 miles in length. M, 4 Small discontinuous lenses of peritotite and associated mafic rocks have intruded into, at least, some of the major fault zone. Generally these mafic intrusives are mineralized with nickel and copper bearing sulphides. ^ The emplacement of the granite masses appear ;to have taken place after the above events..4 LOCAL GEOLOGY Geological mapping of the property has shown the property to be largely underlain by paragneiss, intruded by quartz diorite and some later granite., ^ The O. D. M. map No shows a major fault lying under the waters of Rex Lake and with some other faults angling off from it. Some cross faults are also shown on the property of Duvan Copper Company. The faults that are shown overland masses are topographically expressed by fault escar p m v'nts and deep narrow valleys. ^ ^ Copper sulphides, gossan and possibly nickel sulphides were observed in 3 separate locations. The sulphides occur massive, as stringers or disseminated within mafic amphibolite-pyroxine dykes in mica schists and within the quartz diorite at its contact with paragneiss. Two of the sulphide occurrences lie respectively on either side of Rex Lake associated with mafic rocks and it is possible that they may be related to the major faiilt shown on the O. D, M. map as underlying Rex Lake.
