2 i INTRODUCTION Midland Nickel Mining Corporation Limited have had a magnetometer survey conducted over a 23 contiguous non-patented claim group located in Pardee -Crooks Township in the Thunder Bay Mining Division of Ontario. The group is made up of 15 claims optioned from Lake Superior Nickel Mines Limited and Edar Uranium Mines Limited and 8 claims of Midland Nickel Mining Corporation Limited. The claims are listed l) e low : Lake Superior Nickel (Option) 11 claims TB TB TB TB TB incl. Edar Uranium (Option) 4 claims TB TB TB * TB V. Midland Nickel Corp (Option) 8 claims TB TB incl, TB GENERAL GEOLOGY The geology of the area is shown on C.G.S. Map 355A. The bedrock consists of sediments of the Rove Formation and intrusive

3 i j ~- 2 dykes and sills of diabase. The sediments of the Rove Formation occur in a zone extending from northeast of Thunder Bay to Gunflint Lake and the equivalent formation Virginia Slate underlies a large area in Minnesota adjacent to the Mesabi Iron Range. In the Midland Nickel area the Rove Formation is a success-j ion of sediments which are flat lying or only very gently tilted. The Rove Formation has been intruded by dykes and sills of diabase and related rocks, over its entire extent. These dykes and sills appear to form a connected system. Numerous occurrences of copper and nickel bearing sulph ides have been reported in diabase and related rocks that intrude the Animkie sediments. A large tonnage of copper-nickel mine rali /,;i lion containing precious metals occurring in the related rocks (anorthositic gabbro) has been outlined by diamond drilling on the Great Lakes Nickel Limited j property which ties on to the northwest corner of the group. The mineralization occurs near the base of a diabase or gabbro sill. M!22'HOP OF sil RVicY A g rid of north south packet lines have been cut over the property at 400 foot intervals. Chainage pickets have been set up along

4 l i the lines at these chainage pickets. The readings have been recorded on the accompanying map. An Arvcla AEM magnetometer was used for Hie.survey ; /~j \ h aving a sensitivity of 100 gammas per scale division and (lie readings l have been corrected to a common base. RESULTS OF THE GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY The magnetic survey did not show much magnetic different!! ation. Two small magnetic zones were outlined, one in the center and i OIK- nen r the eastern edge of the property. These anomalies a re sus - pected to be caused by basic intrusive rock. RECOMMENDATIONS It is recommended that a program of surface mapping and prospecting be carried out over the property when the weather is suitable. Special investigation should be carried out on the magnetic y.ones to determine if they are caused by ;mo rtlios il it; gabbro, Jiase metal mineralization has been found associated with such inlrusives. 5 . z - XII* Normal operation a) Instructions to adjust the zero level when ( there is only a small regional difference* The AEM ie adjusted to regional zero position by the manu facturer* Therefore a checking adjustment on a new measuring field might be necessary* This adjusting is made as follows i first check that there ore no magnetic disturbances around* Set the changer of measuring range (5) to the more sensitive area (xlooo). Set the scale of the magnetometer ( U) to the reading O* Level the circular level. In case the pointers (3) do not coaot* unscrew slightly the screw in the center of the ; one range finder magnet and turn the magnet by means of a thin non-iron plate* e.g. with a coin. Take the range finder magnet* in which the magnet is nearer to the horizontal position* for this magnet changes less the sensitivity of the. indicating magnet* Turn the range finder magnet always very carefully* because even a small swing angle of the magnet changes the zero level consider* ably* When the position is reached where the pointers ooaot* the bubble of the circular level being in the center* the range finder magnet is locked by fastening the screw* The ASM is ready for operation in the field in question*.'. ;,,.' v :.... ''- "; ' Check that the changer of the Measuring range is on the nore sensitive area (xlooo)*,., i-, r- '' v, '. Level the circular level. ",- '-. ',- Turn the scale plate* keeping the bubble in center t until the pointers ooaot* Read the obtained reading on the scale and nmltiply it by YOU will have the gamma value of the anomaly directly* e*g, 5*2 x 1000 m 5200 gammas* Maximum reading ia gammas* If a*n anomaly is so strong that this measuring range is not sufficient* larger measuring range must be taken into use* This can be done simply by turning the changer of the measuring range to the larger area (x5000)* Measuring is per formed just as above. The obtained reading is multiplied by 5000 and the product obtained is the gamma value of the anomaly* For example 2*5 x 5000 M gammas* The maximum reading is 12 x 5000 m gammas* Carefully note the signs of plua (*) and minus (-) on the scale. Negative anomalies rather rarely occur on the Northern Hemisphere* but they are by no means to be mistaken for the positive anomalies*

' ''"': -: '', ''' :.A- " :; '.':'' - v/,o v.," ".- v- 1--C'- r/ -..-.', The influences follow the sinus curve aaudrawn below i, "-;' " \ L s Vertical force O.;' ;.'- influence on the aero Pos "* Horizontal f ore* influence on the sensitivity In Pos G0 the N-Pol of the rang*, finder magnets points upwards, f in Pos 900 it points to the turning knob, in Pos 180O downwards, and in Pos 2700 to the back of the magnetometer* -The maximum sensitivity is obtained in Pos 90O and the minimum sensitivity in Pos 2?0O * It is to be noted, however,.that the maximum sensiti vity can not be used due to the fact that the indicating magnet can become unstable* The desired zero level and sensitivity can always be obtained* because,there are two independent rang* finder magnets in the magnetometer*. ^ -,' ; v : : \ ; -."- V ^ V^s - The sensitivity of the indicating magnet varies also in different points of compass** When the magnetometer in a small sector of compass is unstable, the highest practical sensitivity has been reached* The magnetometer being in this most sensitive or over sensitive sector the indicating magnet J.s directed to the South* The indicating magnet ia parallel with the shortest edge of the magnetometer, whilst the N-Pol is on the side of the scale sjtd the S-Pol on the backside of the instrument*. The bearing surfaces of the AEM are self-lubricating And need no lubrication* If the "siagnetio soul 11 is broken or the instrument for some other reason needs service it is best to send it to the manufacturer. The delicate inner parts of the Instrument and their adjusting can be handled only by experienced engineers who fully know the smallest details of the AEM*
