REPORT ON SCINTILLOMETER SURVEY ON PART OF THE PROPERTY OF ALBATROS GOLD MINES LTD. SETTING NET LAKE AREA. ONT. INTRODUCTION The property held by Albatros Gold Mines Ltd. was acquired as a uranium prospect in the Setting Net Creek Area of Northwest Ontario. A crew was sent into the property last summer to carry out a scintillometer survey over some of the ground, together with trenching where warranted. The following report and accompanying maps describe the results of the work carried out on the property. PROPERTY AND LOCATION The property consists of 40 claims of approximately 40 acres each in what is referred to as the Setting Net Creek area in the Red Lake Mining Division of Northwestern Ontario. The claims are shown on the accompanying map. The property is situated a few miles south of Favorable Lake which is approximately 110 miles due north of the Red Lake mining camp. GEOLOGY The Favorable Lake area contains an extensive area of granitic rocks and recent uranium showings have been found within the granite and particularly along the granitevolcanic contact. Preliminary work in the area has indicated uranium values but very little is known about the occurrences or the structural control.

2 t * * 4w The property of Albatros Gold Mines appears to be entirely underlain by granitic rocks. RESULTS OF THE SCINTILLOMETER SURVEY The scintillometer survey was carried out on four claims only as the crew did not get to the property until October and the approach of freeze-up made it necessary to cease work. The survey covered portions of 5#91#, 5#913, 5#914, and 5#917, as shown on the attached maps. An east-west base line was cut, as shown on Map No. l, and north-south lines were then cut at 400 foot intervals, as shown on Map No. 2. Readings were taken along the lines using a McPhar Model TV-3 Scintillometer and these are plotted as counts per minute on Map No. 2. In addition, readings were also taken over all rock outcrops in the vicinity of the lines. The readings obtained were largely uniform, represent ing a background count of approximately #0. Two areas on line 29W showed readings close to double background which is relatively low. However, since a gasoline rock drill was available, pits were blasted in two places, as shown on Map No. 1. The rock was a relatively coarse granite but nothing of importance was encountered in the pits. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS The scintillometer survey did not encounter anything of importance but it covered less than 10^ of the property. It is thus advisable to prospect the balance of the property and carry out scintillometer readings over all areas of outcrop. Respectfully submitted, H.

3 -1 53C13NEe SETTING NET CREEK 020 ABSTRACT in the period July 19th to August 6th, 1968, the 40 claim Albatros Gold Mines Limited property, at: Pennock Lake, north western Ontario was investigated by airborne spectrometer survey flown in two directions by Geophysical Hngiricering and Surveys Limited. The survey located two anomalies which are recommended for ground follow-up. Tile re suits of the survey are discussed in a 4 page report and are shown in Drawings 3766 and 3767 in the pocket at the back of the report.

4 -2 - The property of Albatros Gold Mines Limited was investigated by a spectrometer survey in two directions in the period July 19th to August 6th, The survey was done as part of a survey of a larger area. The property is located approximately 120 miles due north of Red Lake in north-western Ontario. Access to the property in the summer would be by float plane to Pennock Lake at the east end of the group. PROPERTY The 40 claims covered by this report are listed below: and to inclusive 58906*to inclusive GEOLOGY The property has not been mapped in detail. The claims are thought to be underlain by a biotite granite gneiss - pegmatite complex.

MFE 6 -channel hot pen chart recorder The survey was flown at l /8th mile intervals in two flight directions at a mean terrain clearance of 150 feet. SPECTROMETRY SURVEY A total of 3060 line-miles were flown in the area of interest, of which 40 line -miles were flown over the 40 claims in two directions or an average of l mile per claim. The instrumentation is described in the appendix. Tlie re-suits of this survey are shown on Drawings 3766 and 3767 in the pocket. The E -W survey and the NE -S W survey are shown separately. The combined uranium -thorium radiation anomalies arc shown as bars of length equal to their half -width, with a number representing the peak count rate in kilocounts per

6 . 4 - minute. Background threshold generally is about 1.4 kcpm, and anomalies of amplitude 1.8 kcpm and greater were picked. Although the thorium output indicates the presence of this element, the larger part of the combined uranium -thorium. radiation appears to represent uranium radiation. CONCLUSION The survey indicated two anomalous' zones that should be investigated on the ground. 7 APPENDIX The McPhar AV-1 - Spectrometer The AY-1 spectrometer is of the threshold type, providing the following outputs: (a) K + U-tTh; threshold set at 0.8 MeV (h) LH Th; threshold set at l. 6 MeV (c) Th; threshold set at 2.5 MeV The response time for the above three outputs respectively was set at l, 2, and 3 seconds. The crystal is of sodium iodide activated with thallium, 4 inches high and 6 inches in diameter. Three electrically-balanced magnetically-shielded photomultiplier tubes are optically coupled to the crystal. A cessium source maintains calibration within \JQ stability in gain shift and drift: over a 24 hour period.
