3 INTRODUCTION During the month of June 1985 magnetic and V.L.F. E.M. surveys were conducted over a portion of a large group of claims owned by Asarco Exploration Company of Canada Limited. The surveys were carried out by Company personnel. The data obtained by the surveys is depicted on the maps accom panying this report. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS A magnetic and V.L.F. E.M. survey was carried out over nine mining claims. The magnetic survey, whilst not locating any major magnetic anomalies does suggest that the southern part is underlain by gabbro with a distinctive contact with volcanics. The contact suggests alteration or weathering along it. The northern portion is probably underlain by felsic intrusives. The low magnetics found along the baseline may be due to alteration or weathering. The V.L.F. survey did not locate any strong conductors, but did confirm the contact along the gabbro. It also suggested varia tions in the northern claim; these are probably due to changes in the overburden. However, to either confirm or deny this, it is suggested a Max Min survey be conducted in these areas where the V.L.F. indicates conductive zones. PROPERTY, LOCATION S ACCESS The property discussed in this report consists of sixty (60) contiguous mining claims located in the southwest corner of Robb Township with ten claims overlapping, in Cote Township. However, of the eighty claims, only nine were covered by the two surveys. These were: P and 94 P P to 62 inclusive P to 591 inclusive

4 - 2 - The claim group is readily accessible from Timmins via Highway 101 west to the Mallette Timber Mill, thence by gravel roads north to Round Lake in Cote Township. From a point approximately one mile south of Round Lake a bulldozer road runs east into the claim group. INSTRUMENT S SURVEY DATA The survey was conducted over a previously established grid. The traverse lines were oriented north-south and were spaced at 400 foot intervals, pickets were placed at 100 foot intervals along the traverse lines. A total of 7.38 miles of traverse lines and base line were laid out. The magnetometer survey was carried out using a Scintrex MP-2 Proton Precession Magnetometer. This instrument measures varia tions in the total intensity of the earth's magnetic field. The MP-2 is accurate and has a sensitivity of l gamma over a range from 20,000 to 90,000 gammas. Since the instrument measures total field intensity, the accuracy is not affected by sensor orientation. Readings were taken at 100 foot intervals along the traverse lines for a total of 379 readings over the 6.63 miles of line. The electromagnetic survey was conducted using a Geonics E.M.-16 V.L.F. unit. The V.L.F. method is passive in that it employs the radiation of powerful military radio transmitters as the primary signal, in this instance the station at Seattle, Washington was used, operating on a frequency of 18.6 KHz. In the field the E.M.-16 receiver is used to measure the vertical components of the secondary fields created by the primary signal. The receiver has two inputs, with two receiving coils built into the instrument. One coil has a normally vertical axis, the other is horizontal and parallel to the primary field. The signal from the vertical axis coil is first minimized by tilting the instrument, the tilt angle is calibrated in percentages, this is the in-phase component. The out-of-phase is obtained by balancing out the remaining signal by using a known signal from the other coil. The accuracy of the reading is. 11 resolution. A total of 374 in-phase and 374 out-of-phase readings were taken at 100 foot intervals along 6.63 miles of line.

5 - 3 - DISCUSSION OF RESULTS The area covered by the surveys covers only a small portion of the claim group and it reveals very little information of the general area. The magnetic survey seems to touch on a number of characteristics but none are completely outlined. There is evidence of a dyke cutting in a north-south direction through claims , and 590. In the south portion of the surveyed area there is a suggestion of underlying gabbro with a contact to volcanics. This is probably an area of alteration or weathering. To the north the area appears to be underlain by the same rock type - possibly a felsic intrusive. The V.L.F. E.M. survey did not indicate any outstanding feature. In fact, in general the data was blank, suggesting very little change across the claims surveyed. However, in the southern claims, a conductive zone is indicated, this is probably the same zone as the contact suggested by the magnetics, an alteration around the gabbro. Both this conductor and other variations in the E.M. data seen in claim may also be caused by or combined with changes in the overburden and in topography. It would be necessary to conduct another type of E.M., i.e. Max Min survey in these areas of V.L.F. activity in order to confirm the presence of a conductive zone. Respectf ted, E.B.
