3 SUMMARY Over the past four years, linecutting and ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys have been conducted over six contiguous mining claims, held by Hollinger Mines Limited, in Godfrey Township, Ontario. The magnetic survey successfully outlined several rock units believed to consist mainly of mafic dyke material. Several weak conductive i^ones have been interpreted from the j j electromagnetic results. Only e*w twarrant# further consideration at the pr e s ent. INTRODUCTION This report on the combined results of a ground magnetic and a V.L.F. ( 20 KHz) electromagnetic survey is prepared to conform v.dth the assessment requirements for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. The examination was initiated with the re-cutting and chaining of old lines during October and November 1969 by Jack Chevalier of Hoyle, Ontario. This work was contracted by Hollinger Mines. The geophysical work was performed by Hollinger personnel during Hay and August 1970 and October All phases of the field work were supervised by the author who subsequently interpreted and prepared the data for presentation. A considerable amount of information about the northern part of Godfrey Township can be obtained from the following publications by the Ministry of Matura! DESCRIPTION and LOCATION This portion of Hollinger Mines' Godfrey No. 4 Group consists of 6 unpatented mining claims, P to P inclusive, situated along the north boundary of Godfrey Township in the Porcupine Mining Division. The claims occupy the north half of lot 6 and the northwest and southwest quarters of the north half of lot 5, all in concession 6. This is within the city of Timmins, 9 miles north west of City Hall. The claims were staked during December 1969 in an area of dense mixed forest cover. The total relief within this property is probably less than 15 feet. ACCESSIBILITY A narrow all-weather bush road near the west boundary joins with highway 576 one mile to the south* HISTORY To the writer's knowledge, the only previous work on the claims was a Turam electromagnetic survey conducted for Chance Mining and Exploration Company Limited during 1964* A grid of lines similar to the existing grid, was used. Only weak conductive anomalies were measured on the six claims and there is no record of ground follow-up.

5 - 3 - GEOLOGY Superficially, this property lies along southern edge of the clay belt. In the northeast half the drift cover is mainly horizontal clays carved by erosion in the drainage pattern. In the western part, the overburden is mainly sand, gravel and boulders mixed with clays. For half a mile west of the property the land rises towards a large north-south trending ridge of exposed rhyolite rocks. (Mount Jamieson, El. 1366'). A low lying outcrop containing acid flow rocks occurs along the 00 B. L. between 16E and 20E. SURVEY I-STHODS Li ne cut t ing ; From a survey point along the Godfrey- Jamieson township boundary, between lots 6 and 7, a base line bearing 134 degrees from true north was extended for 4300 feet..lines 400 feet apart, striking normal to the base line were cut and stations were surveyed at an interval of 100 feet.. l of ^ miles of Krid lines was thus established. Magnetics; All the lines were read at a station interval of 100 feet or less with an A. B. E. M. Mz-4 torsion wire magnetometer capable of measuring the vertical component of the earth's magnetic field. Base stations were established along the base line at the even 400 ft. intersections by averaging two repeat loops encompassing each of the points. The main base station at 00/00 in turn is re3,ated through observations to the government magnetic base along the Bristol-Ogden township boundary, where an arbitrary value of 945 gammas has been assigned. JUurnal and instrument drift variations were recorded by repeating the bases. These variations were then subtracted from the readings and the arbitrary value of 945 added to complete the corrections in gammas.

6 - 4 - Electromagnetics; The instrument used in this survey i s a production raodel EM-16 e.lec.t^iqpj a1gnietic receiver (Ser. ;f48) manufactured by Oeonics Limited of Toronto, Canada. The inclinometer is calibrated in "percent'* and the "Out-of-phase" dial is electrically connected in such a way that both components have the same sign over a non-shallow non-magnetic conductive source. The survey was conducted along the grid lines at a station interval of 100 feet. RESULTS Magnotic.s; The survey results are presented on the accompanying plan on a scale of l in. to 400 ft. Selected isomagnetic contours have been plotted to supplement the data. Six north trending magnetic features are readily discernible on the accompanying plan. They display similar relative maximum intensities of 400 to 1200 gammas and are, therefore, possibly related to similar geological units which in this area are believed to be north-trending quartz diabase dykes. The change in normal background intensities between the areas of claims P , P and the east part of the group suggests a change to a more basic unit to the east. The contact would appear to lie near the dyke in the center of lot 6 and to be dipping to the east. E l e c t r ora a g n e t i c s; The results of the electromagnetic survey are presented on the accompanying plan at a scale of l in. to 400 ft. Although 9 conductive zones are interpreted, only three arc worthy of mention. The first is on line 36E at UN which might extend to the second on line 24E. The third, on line 20E at 113, was previously detected by the Turam survey as a weak and low conductivity response.

7 l l C ONO LI IS I PITS and iff C CM END ATI ONS Because of the reconnaissance nature of the geophysical surveys, the weak conductive anomalies should be viewed opti mistically as possible extremities of significantly conductive zones and, therefore, warrant further examination.
