. INTRODUCTION - - This report describes the specifications and resuts of a geophysica survey carried out for St. Joe Canada Inc. of 6- Richmond Street West, Toronto, Ontario, M5H 2J4 by Terraquest Ltd., 240 Adeaide Street West, Toronto, Canada. The fied work was performed between October 24 and December 8, 987 and the data processing, interpretation and reporting from December 9, 987 to January 2, 999. The purpose of a survey of this type is two-fod. One is to prospect directy for anomaousy conductive and magnetic areas in the earth's crust which may be caused by, or at east reated to, minera deposits. A second is to use the magnetic and conductivity patterns derived from the survey resuts to assist in mapping geoogy, and to indicate the presence of fauts, shear zones, foding, ateration zones and other structures potentiay favourabe to the presence of god and base-meta concentration. To achieve this purpose the survey area was systematicay traversed by an aircraft carrying geophysica instruments aong parae fight ines spaced at even intervas, 00 meters above the terrain surface, and aigned so as to intersect the regiona geoogy in a way to provide the optimum contour patterns of geophysica data. 2. Each individua photograph was photographicay adjusted to conform to the NTS map system before the mosaic was assembed. 5. DATA PROCESSING Fight path recovery was carried out in the fied using a video tape viewer to observe the fight path as recorded by the Geocam video camera system. The fight path recovery was competed daiy to enabe refights to be seected where needed for the foowing day. The magnetic data was eveed in the standard manner by tying survey ines to the tie ines. The IGRF has not been removed. The tota fied was contoured by computer using a program provided by Datapotting Services Inc. To do this the fina eveed data set is gridded at a grid ce spacing of /Oth of an inch at map scae. The vertica magnetic gradient is computed from the tota fied data using a method of transforming the data set into the frequency domain, appying a transfer function to cacuate the gradient, and then transforming back into the spatia domain. The method is described by a number of authors incuding Grant, 972 and Spector, 968. The computer program for this purpose is provided by Paterson, Grant and Watson Ltd. of Toronto. The VLF data was treated automaticay so as to normaize the non conductive background areas to 00 {tota fied strength) and zero (quadrature). The agorithms to do this were deveoped by Terraquest and wi be provided to anyone interested by appication to the company. TERRAQUEST LTD.

- 9 - A of these dataprocessing cacuations and map contouring were carried out by Datapotting Services Inc. of Toronto. INTERPRETATION 6. Genera Approach To satisfy the purpose of the survey as stated in the introduction, the interpretation procedure was carried out on both the magnetic and VLF data. On a oca scae the magnetic gradient contour patterns were used to outine geoogica units which have different magnetic intensity and patterns or "signatures". Where possibe these are reated to existing geoogy to provide a geoogica identity to the units. On a regiona scae the tota fied contour patterns were used in the same way. Fauts and shear zones are interpreted mainy from atera dispacements of otherwise inear magnetic anomaies but aso from ong narrow "ows". The direction of regiona fauting in the genera area is taken into account when seecting fauts. Foding is usuay seen as curved regiona patterns. Ateration zones can show :up as anomaousy quiet areas, often adjacent to strong, circuar anomaies that represent intrusives. Magnetic anomaies that are caused by iron deposits of ore quaity are usuay obvious owing to their high ampitude, often in tens of thousands of gammas. VLF anomaies are categorized according to whether the phase response is norma, reverse, or no phase at a. The significance of the differing phase responses is not competey understood athough in genera reverse phase indicates either overburden as the source or a conductor with considerabe depth extent, or both. Norma phase response is theoreticay caused by surface conductors with imited depth extent. Areas showing a smooth response somewhat above background (ie. 0 or so) are ikey caused by overburden which is thick enough and conductive enough to saturate at these frequencies. In this case no response from bedrock is seen. 22 - 0 - The VLF-EM conductor axes have been identified and evauated according to the Terraquest cassification system {Figure 4). This system correates the nature and orientation of the conductor axes with stratigraphic, structura and topographic features to obtain an association from which one or more origins may be seected. Aternate associations are indicated in parentheses. 6.2 Interpretation The magnetic and VLF-EM data are shown in contoured format on maps at a scae of :0,000 in the back pocket. An interpretation is aso provided. The foowing notes are intended to suppement these maps. PASHKO, EAST PASHKO AND GREENBUSH LAKES PROPERTIES (A-730.) The tota magnetic fied has a very arge reief in excess of 8,200 gammas. The highest responses come from the southeast and dominate and overwhem the responses from other ithoogies over amost haf the survey area. East and northeast trending anomaies occur over the northwestern haf of the survey area. The vertica magnetic gradient data substantiay improves the resoution of the very high magnetic responses and enhances the weaker magnetic trends, particuary those to the northwest and northeast. The very strong magnetic anomay to the southeast correates with the previousy, geophysicay interpreted iron formation. Responses of this magnitude are characteristic of typica iron formations. The second strongest anomay trends uniformy to the northeast and coincides with the Greenbush Lake Faut. It is interpreted to be reated to a possibe mafic intrusive {Unit 4) such as a diorite that intrudes the faut zone. The granodiorite intrusives (Unit 7) correate with moderate to weak magnetic responses and a random pattern of moderate gradient vaues on the vertica gradient magnetic map. The contact with the Pashkokogan Lake Stock is best outined on the tota magnetic fied map. The remaining magnetic responses are interpreted as mafic to intermediate metavocanics (Unit ) and fesic to intermediate metavocanics (Unit 2). The stronger magnetic vaues are interpreted to correate with the mafic to intermediate metavocanics. Horizons of increased magnetic activity within these ithoogies (Units m and 2m, respectivey) are probaby reated to increased concentrations of magnetic mineras such as magnetite or pyrrhotite, or possiby to more mafic compositions or intrusive rocks. The very subte 2m horizon aong the northern edge of the Pashko Lake property can ony be detected on the vertica magnetic gradient map. TERRAQUEST LTD.

- - Magneticay interpreted fauts trend predominanty to the northeast and a few to the northwest and east. East trending faut dispacements incuding the Greenbush Lake Faut are difficut to identify as they parae the magnetic stratigraphy over most of the survey area. The Greenbush Lake Faut is detected by the magnetic character of the intrusive rocks which foow the ines of weakness, not by the dispacement of magnetic trends. The VLF-EM data shows numerous weak to strong conductor axes. Most of these trend to the east and southeast showing an orientation bias toward the Cuter transmitter. Many show a correation with akes and swampy areas suggesting that conductive cayey overburden is confined to topographic depressions. Those conductor axes that cross-cut magnetic stratigraphy or are i parae to intrepreted or observed structure are associated with ^ structura origins, either faut or shear zones. This type of ^ conductivity may be reated to a) mineras such as suphides, graphite or gouge aong the structure or b) an ionic effect such as porosity or - water within the structure or to cay in overying topographic depression. Note that severa strong conductors parae the Greenbush Lake Faut zone. Those conductor axes that either coincide with or parae the magnetic stratigraphy possess potentia for stratabound bedrock origins such as suphides or graphite. These warrant further investigation on the ground by either EM or IP methods. PASHKO RAPIDS (A-730.2) The tota magnetic fied has a reief of approximatey 700 gammas and shows two broad and severa minor northeast trending anomaies. The vertica magnetic gradient improves the resoution of a these anomaies. The strong anomay to the north beyond the property is interpreted to originate from a semiconformabe pod of mafic intrusives, probaby gabbro, simiar to that which outcrops aong strike to the west of the property. The remaining responses are interpreted to be reated to mafic to fesic metavocanics, the more mafic components correating with the more magnetic responses. Magneticay active horizons are shown as Unit m and are probaby derived from increased concentrations of pyrrhotite and magnetite such as those found in the metasediments to the southwest. The southern most anomay may in fact be on strike with the metasediments suggesting that they may extend onto the southern part of the property. TERMQUESrm i S

Magneticay interpreted fauts trend to the northwest. Any northeast trending fauts woud be difficut to detect as they woud parae the magnetic stratigraphy. Three VLF-EM conductor axes have been identified. The strongestone to the north correates with a widening in the Pashkokogan River and is probaby due to cayey, conductive overburden. The two remaining conductor axes are very weak but are parae to the magnetic stratigraphy. These possess potentia for bedrock origins and shoud be foowed up on the ground using EM or IP methods. JEMIMA LAKE AND JEMIMA NORTH PROPERTIES (A-730.3) The tota magnetic fied has a reief of over 3,400 gammas over the Jemima Lake property and 550 gammas over the Jemima North property and show northeast trending magnetic units. The strong magnetic J anomay across the Jemima Lake property dominates and overwhems the responses from the surrounding ithoogies. The vertica magnetic gradient offers improved resoution aong this anomay. The strong magnetic anomay is interpreted as iron formation and shows typica responses for iron rich horizons. Magnetic modeing aong Fight Line 29, using computer software MAGMOD III by Geosoft Inc. (Figure 5), suggests that the iron formation has a width of approximatey 20 metres and a depth of 35 metres (beow aircraft). A the responses to the north correate with mafic to intermediate metavocanics (Unit ). Magneticay active horizons within this unit are probaby reated to increased concentrations of magnetite or pyrrhotite or to more mafic horizons. The magnetic responses south of the iron formation correate with migmatites (Unit 3). Moderatey strong magnetic anomaies (Unit 3m) within this unit may correate with the homogeneous diatexite as shown on the regiona and geoogica compiation map or possiby to iron rich sedimentary or vocanic intercaations. The dominant northeast trending structure cannot be detected on the magnetic map as it is parae to the magnetic trends. Disruptions of the magnetic horizons indicate numerous northwesttrending offsets some of which correate with VLF-EM responses. Many VLF-EM conductor axes correate with akes or river vaeys indicating that conductive overburden is restricted to some but not a of the topographic depressions. At east eight moderate to strong conductor axes correate we with magnetic units and therefore possess good potentia for bedrock origins. These incude graphite and suphides and shoud be foowed TERMQUEST LTD.

- 3 - up on the ground using EM or IP methods. In paces it is difficut to ascertain whether the responses are derived from ithoogica sources or structura origins parae to the stratigraphy. FRAIN LAKE AND LOWRY LAKE PROPERTIES (A-730.4) The tota magnetic fied over the Frain Lake and Lowry Lake properties are approximatey 520 gammas and 00 gammas respectivey and show the genera east to northeast trend of the ithoogies. The vertica magnetic gradient data enhances the more subte magnetic trends. Most of the magnetic responses correate with the mafic to intermediate metavocanics (Unit ). Magneticay active horizons (Unit m) within this ithoogy are probaby associated with magnetite or pyrrhotite rich horizons or more mafic compositions. It is -^ suspected that the northwest trending magnetic units may originate ^ from diabase dykes'(unit 9). The fesic to intermediate metavocanics (Unit 2) and the castic metasediments (Unit 3) as shown on the regiona geoogica map : correate with weaker magnetic responses. Numerous northwest trending fauts and two northeast trending fauts have been interpreted from the magnetic data across the Frain Lake property. Five northeast trending fauts have been identified across the Lowry Lake property. Note that there is a detection bias in favour of cross fauts. The VLF-EM data show numerous weak to moderate strength conductor axes with a bias in favour of those that trend toward the Cuter transmitter azimuth. Those that are obique to the magnetic stratigraphy are interpreted to possess structura origins such as fauts or shear zones. Most of the conductor axes are either coincident with or parae to magnetic stratigraphy and therefore possess potentia for stratbound bedrock sources such as suphides or graphite. The stronger of these conductors with a high degree of correation shoud be foowed up on the ground using EM or IP methods. AUGUST CREEK AND AUGUST WEST PROPERTIES (A-730.5) The tota magnetic fieds across the August Creek and August West properties are quite arge, 7,200 gammas and 4,50 gammas respectivey. These strong responses appear to originate from the same east trending horizon and dominate most of the remaining responses across the survey areas. One moderatey strong anomay trends to the north-northwest. The vertica magnetic gradient TERRAQUESr LTD. f

- 4 - improves the resoution of the strong anomaies and removes much of their associated gradients across the survey area. The strong anomaies are interpreted as iron formation across the southern part of both properties. The interpreted width may be exaggerated due to an overwheming effect often associated with high susceptibiities. The remaining responses have been interpreted according to the known geoogy as mafic to intermediate metavocanics (Unit ), fesic to intermediate metavocanics (Unit 2) and castic metasediments (Unit 3). These units are generay in order of decreasing magnetic susceptibiity. Magneticay active horizons within these units (shown by the suffix m) are probaby reated to increased concentrations of magnetite or pyrrhotite or possiby to more mafic compositions. Aternativey some of these horizons may be interpreted as conformabe mafic intrusives. The strong northwest trending anomay is interpreted as a diabase dyke (Unit 9). Magneticay interpreted fauts trend to the northwest and northeast and show a variabe correation with topographic ineaments. The northwest trending diabase dyke probaby intrudes a faut zone. It is specuated that both faut orientations occur in a areas, however there may be a oca detection bias in favour of those structures that possess greater dispacements or occur at a higher ange to stratigraphy. The VLF-EM data show narrow moderate strength conductive zones and broad strongy conductive areas. The atter correate with swamps and akes and probaby originate from conductive overburden. Two conductor axes coincide with magnetic stratigraphy and two are parae to the magnetic units. In paces a portion of these responses may be reated to conductive overburden but in genera they possess potentia for stratabound bedrock origins such as suphides or graphite and warrant ground foow up. Those conductor axes that are obique to the stratigraphy are interpreted to originate from structura sources. IRON FALLS AND AUGUST NORTH PROPERTIES (A-730.6) TERMQUEST LTD.

- 5 - the resoution sighty of the anomay at the Iron Fas property and enhances the magnetic stratigraphy across the August North property. The strong magnetic reief across the southern part of the Iron Fas property is characteristic of an iron formation. Despite the improvement in the resoution offered by the vertica magnetic gradient data the actua thickness of the iron formation is narrower than suggested by the magnetics due to an overwheming effect often associated with bodies of high magnetic susceptibiities. The strong responses to the northeast of the August North property are indicative of the approaching iron formation as shown in the regiona geoogica map. The remaining responses are interpreted according to the regiona geoogica map as either mafic to intermediate metavocanics (Unit ), fesic to intermediate metavocanics (Unit 2), or castic metasediments (Unit 3). Magnetic horizons within these ithoogies (shown with the suffix m) are probaby reated to increased concentrations of magnetic mineras, most ikey magnetite or pyrrhotite. The stronger horizons may be the aong strike extensions of the iron formation. In other cases, some of the magnetic horizons may be reated to more mafic compositions. Contrasting structura styes have been interpreted on these properties. The Iron Fas property shows north to northeast trending fauts parae to the main river vaey. The fauts and shear zones across the August North property trend predominanty to the northwest with a few to the east. There is probaby a detection bias in favour of those structures that cross magnetic stratigraphy at a high ange. The VLF-EM data show numerous moderate strength conductive zones and severa strong conductor axes with good definition. The broad conductive zone across the August North property conform to topographic depressions and are probaby associated with conductive overburden. The very strong conductor axes to the north correate we with the iron formation and are probaby caused by suphides within thatrock unit. Simiary severa moderate strength conductor axes coincide with magnetic horizons across the August North property and possess potentia for stratabound bedrock origins such as suphides or graphite. A these warrant further investigation on the ground using IP or EM to pinpoint and verify their existence. Two conductor axes are obique to the magnetic stratigraphy and are interpreted to possess structura origins. The strong conductor axes to the north on the Iron Fas property is associated with a faut or shear zone which may possess potentia for a god bearing structure. TERRAQUESrm

VALLAS LAKE PROPERTY (A-730.7) The tota magnetic fied has a reief of approximatey,000 gammas and shows a strong gradient from the northwest to the southeast, overwheming the oca magnetic character. This is improved substantiay by the vertica magnetic gradient data which shows numerous subte northeast trending units. The strong magnetic anomay to the northwest is coincident with i the iron formation and the weak magnetic responses to the southeast S correate with the granitic puton (Unit 7). A the remaining responses are interpreted to be derived from mafic to intermediate metavocanics (Unit ) and their sighty magnetic sub-members (Unit m). The interpretation of the m horizons toward the iron formation become increasingy subjective. It is specuated that any northwesttrending anomaies may originate from diabase dykes (Unit 9). 5 Numerous north to northeast trending cross fauts have been * interpreted from the magnetic data. The dominant dispacement appears to be sinistra aong the iron formation horizon, but is perhaps more compicated within the metavocanics.. The VLF-EM responses are weak to moderate with poor definition, most of them have been interpreted to possess overburden origins. There appears to be a strong overriding bias in favour of those conductor axes that trend toward the Cuter transmitter. The quadrature responses of those conductors that are parae to the fight ine have reduced interpretationa vaue. The conductor axes cose to the iron formation possess a better correation with magnetic stratrigraphy, suggesting a reduction in the conductive overburden. At east three conductors correate we with the stratigraphy and therefore may possess stratabound bedrock origins such as graphite or suphides. These warrant further investigation. TERRAQUESTLTD.

7. SUMMARY An airborne combined magnetic and VLF-EM mapping survey has been carried out on thirteen properties at 00 metre ine intervas with data reading stations at metres aong the fight ines. A data is produced on maps at a scae of :0,000. The magnetic data has been used to modify and update the existing geoogy and has shown a number of new contacts and fauts. A number of VLF-EM conductor axes were found most of which are associated with structura sources and overburden. A few are beieved to have potentia suphide origins and have been recommended for additiona investigation. TERRA Chares Q. Barrie, M.Se. Geoogist TERRAQUEST LTD. ^ 6) " o S IT) -i S 2 ^ i j3
