4 Additional instructions: or the entire rd movement, the lights should be dimmer than they are or the rest o the iece At bar 5, the lights should suddenly go out, and then gradually ade back in through bars 6-2 When the last movement starts, the lights should gradually ade back to ull brightness At bar 5 during the ermata, ercussion should move to the right o the stage and ick u the lute Ater bar, ercussion 2 should move to the let o the stage and ick u the Irish histle Starting at bar 5, erc 2 and erc should sloly alk toards each other until they meet in ront o the center o the stage at bar At bar 5 they should return to the stage Electronics: An otional electronics art is as ollos: include a iano beteen the marimbas and in the irst movement ater everyone sings a hrase a microhone should be turned on at the iano to ick u the symathetic resonance o the iano strings rom everyone s singing During the rd movement, on bars 15 and (the 15 min long bars) the electronics layer may imrovise on a e dierently sized triangles hile selectively amliying dierent overtones (to create a texture similar to Nathan Davis s Diving Bell) This should be in the background o the other arts and at a dierent temo rom all o the other arts Also during the rd movement, rom bars 6-6, the electronics layer should remotely lay randomly itched bells, gongs, ind chimes, and other lo-itched resonant metal obects ithout excessively shar attack, all ositioned at dierent oints around the audience The layer may imrovise/comose a art that comlements and engages in conversation ith the lute and irish histle arts, and also moves dynamically ith the rest o the music During the last bars o the last movement, lay all instruments ositioned around the audience at random, starting sloly and sot, crescendoing and accelerating through the irst to bars, and laying extremely ast and loud or the last to bars The electronics layer should also articiate in all the singing sections
