(T he horn arts are also sulied ith aroriate valve combination ingerings or the assages that are ritten in ust intonation) The assages that are in equal temerament are indicated ith a marking ord Strings ST Aart rom timani, glissandos are not even! The glissando seed should alays be accelerating toards the target note (Timani glissandos may be shaed reely according to the nature o the texture) Multihonics: clarinets and bass clarinet In the notation o the clarinet and bass clarinet multihonics the microtonal accidentals are oten aroximate rerensentations or very comlex sonic situations, o hich simliied notational conventions can not guarantee a 100% accuracy Thus, the cent values given above should not be taken literally in the context o clarinet and bass clarinet multihonics All multihonics used in Usvaatsas may start ith smooth and gentle crescendos and end ith similar diminuendos The clarinet multihonics are based on Mikko aasakka's book Exloring the Clarinet and the source or the multihonics or bass clarinet is Harry Sarnaay's the bass clarinet a ersonal history sul onticello sul tasto N normal (used ater and ST) O divisi: The basic division o a string section devides it in to equally large grou o layers The slitting oints are in the middle o the sections, eg div 1 o violin 1 consists o layers 1 and div o violin 1 consists o layers 1 That dividing rocedure alies to every string section, excetions to that are alays sesiied O the notation o harmonics: Harmonics are notated ith diamondshaed noteheads The string rom here a articular harmonic should be layed is indicated ith oman numeral ( I = highest string ; = loest string) Note that aart rom octave harmonics this notation does not equal ith the sounding itches! edalling: iano, celesta, vibrahone and tubular bells I not seciied, use edal lightly according the nature o texture Vibrahone and tubular bells should alays be layed ith some edal there shouldn't be any "damen tones" The keyboard ositionings iano and celesta need to be laced next to each other in 0 angle, the instrument corners nearly touching each other, as the iece requires simultaneous laying on both instruments ercussion The choise o the nature and hardness o sticks used is let to ercussionists
