Aout the Composition Ascending the Crystal Hill as commissioned y the Ne Hampshire Band Directors Association or the 05 Middle Level Honor Band When orking ith the organizers o the estival aout the piece, it ecame clear to center the piece around the Ne Hampshire icon Mount Washington Standing at 6,88 eet, Mount Washington is the highest mountain in the northeastern United States As the mountain is sno-covered or most o the calendar year, its nickname is the Crystal Hill With its snocapped peak and the highest ind speed ever recorded in the orld, 3 mph, the Crystal Hill s eather changes quickly and drastically! The music ould have to relect a climer s ascension, eather conditions and summit to the peak!
