2 Ride Cymbal (RC) Drum Kit Key To Notation Crash Cymbal (CC) Hi-Hat (HH) Oen Hi-Hat o Hi-Hat with oot Snare Drum Rim Click High Tom Mid Tom Floor Tom Bass Drum Exam Structure: (The exam will last or 0 minutes) The candidate will be required to lay two ieces and the grade study or the chosen grade. The candidate will be asked to lay rudiments chosen by the examiner rom the grade being taken (or any rudiment rom a lower grade). The rudiments must be layed as written in the syllabus i.e with the bass drum and hi-hat where written. The other tests in the exam or grades 1 & include: Question 1A - To listen to a short rhythm layed by the examiner on the snare drum. On the second laying the candidate is asked to ta or cla the ulse, emhasising the strong beat. They will then be asked how many beats in a bar there were. Question 1B - The examiner will lay bars o the rhythm again and will ask the candidate to echo it back. Question A - The candidate will be asked to look away rom the drum kit as the examiner lays a ill around the drum kit twice. The candidate will be asked to name the drums layed in the correct order. Question B - The examiner will lay a bar hrase twice to include a kit attern and ill, and will ask the candidate to lay it back. Unreared Perormance - The candidate will be shown a short iece and will be asked questions to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding. They will then be given the ulse set by the examiner and will be asked to lay through the iece. The candidate will be asked how they could imrove on their erormance and will lay a second time though the iece. Exam Over.
