The candidate will be asked t play rudiments chsen by the examiner rm the grade being taken (r any rudiment rm a lwer grade). The rudiments must be played as written in the syllabus i.e with the bass drum and hi-hat where written. The ther tests in the exam r grades & 5 include: Questin 1A - T listen t a shrt rhythm played by the examiner n the snare drum. On the secnd playing the candidate is asked t tap r clap the pulse, emphasising the strng beat. They will then be asked hw many beats in a bar there were, and whether it is cmpund r simple time (at grade 5) Questin 1B - The examiner will play bars the rhythm again and will ask the candidate t ech it back. Questin A - The candidate will be asked t lk away rm the drum kit as the examiner plays a ill arund the drum kit twice. The candidate will be asked t name the drums played in the crrect rder and state the rhythms played n each drum. Questin B - The examiner will play a bar phrase twice t include a kit pattern and ill, and will ask the candidate t play it back. Unprepared Perrmance - The candidate will be shwn a shrt piece and will be asked questins t demnstrate their knwledge and understanding. They will then be given the pulse set by the examiner and will be asked t play thrugh the piece. The candidate will be asked hw they culd imprve n their perrmance and will play a secnd time thugh the piece. Exam Over.
