3 The Jingle Parade Perormers and audiences alike are sure to enjoy this resh take on amiliar holiday motis Bring to lie images o horsedrawn sleighs gliding through the snow, nutcrackers on arade, and Santa s elves busy at work building toys This simle and jolly iece is a must or the holiday concert! e The Jingle Parade is dedicated to Mike Schoield and the Kingsburg High School Band rogram Dr Gilroy wrote this light and un Christmas tune or his good riend and ormer student rom his early years at Fresno State Mike and his wie Michelle, also a Fresno State music graduate earning her living as a band director, were a art o the band rogram in the mid-1990s when Dr Gilroy was just starting to establish himsel as a successul college band director As a member o the Fresno State Bulldog Beat, Mike was one o the to trumet students in Gilroy s rogram Uon graduation, Mr Schoield went on to become the Director o Bands at Kingsburg High School in Kingsburg, Caliornia, one o the state s stronger band rograms Mr Schoield also comleted a master s degree in wind conducting under the guidance o Gary P Gilroy Through the years, Mike Schoield not only ket the tradition strong at Kingsburg High School but under his guidance, his bands would move on to erorm in Carnegie Hall and Hawaii among other imressive venues Fresno State has been ortunate to recruit many ine layers rom the Kingsburg band rogram and Dr Gilroy dedicates this un little selection to Mr Schoield as a ti o the hat to honor Mike and the wonderul Kingsburg High School Band rogram l Gary P Gilroy (ASCAP) Born June 10, 1958 Sa m Gary P Gilroy is a Proessor o Music and Director o Bands at Caliornia State University, Fresno In 1993 he was aointed Associate Director o Bands and Director o the Bulldog Marching Band Ater 13 years in this osition and building one o the inest collegiate marching bands on the west coast, Dr Gilroy became Director o Bands in 200 Prior to this aointment he served or a decade as Director o Bands at Fred C Beyer High School in Modesto, Caliornia where his band was awarded several national honors as well as the International Sudler Shield Award rom the John Phili Sousa Foundation Gilroy also served as aculty at CSU, Stanislaus and graduate assistant at the University o Oregon in Eugene, Oregon where he comleted his doctorate in 1995 In March o 2014 Dr Gilroy was voted into the membershi o the restigious American Bandmasters Association He has served on the board o Caliornia Band Directors Association or ourteen years and he is a Past President o that organization Gilroy is also a Past President o the Fresno Madera Counties Music Educators Association From 1999 to 200 he served on the board o the National Band Association as a Member At Large and the Western Division Chairman Dr Gilroy is in demand as a guest conductor o many honor bands throughout the United States As an adjudicator and guest conductor he has served in 40 states, Canada, China and England Dr Gilroy has been the conductor or all state grous in Colorado, Iowa and Oregon as well as the Caliornia Band Directors Association AllState Junior High School Symhonic Band and the All-State High School Symhonic Band An ASCAP Award-winning comoser, Gilroy's music is ublished or concert band, marching band, and various ensembles through the Arrangers Publishing Comany, BRS Music, Inc, C Alan Publications, Daehn Publications, Gary P Gilroy Publications, Kagarice Brass Editions, Matrix Publications, TRN Publications, Warner Brothers, Wingert-Jones, Inc, and CPP/Belwin Mills His comositions have been eatured at the Bands o America National Concert Band Festival in Indianaolis, the Eastern Trombone Worksho in Washington, DC, the International Trombone Festival in New Orleans, and on many occasions at the International Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago Additionally, Gilroy s comositions have been erormed by many regional and state honor bands throughout the United States Dr Gilroy served as the arranger/comoser or the 2008 Olymic Orchestra in Beijing, China He has been an ASCAP Comosers Award reciient every year since 2001 Dr Gilroy and his wie Dena have lived in Clovis, Caliornia since 1993 His daughter, Alexandra, has music degrees rom UCLA and UNLV and is currently a music teacher in the Clovis Uniied School District and his son, Nicholas, is a graduate o CSU, Long Beach and a reelance ercussionist in the Los Angeles area
