4 I FOREST OF THE TIDE: MANGROVES Mangrove orests create a barrier between land and sea slowing erosion and iltering salt water As such lie in a mangrove orest is brutal and unorgiving as mangrove trees oten brace against tides and tsunamis 1:50 II III IV PANDO: THE TREMBLING GIANT Pando is the name o the world s largest and ossibly oldest living organism It is a orest o quaking (or trembling) asen trees in tah which reroduce asexually cloning themselves into a orest o a single rootconnected organism They are called quaking asens due to the cris rattling sound their leaves make in the slightest breeze :00 HNTING SONG This movement reresents the teerate deciduous orests o North America and northern Euroe Here the horn resents various hunting calls as the rest o the ensemble accoanies in a manner reresentative o the changing seasons 2:0 BOSQE NBOSO: CLOD FOREST Cloud orests exist at high elevations oten near the equator They are cool but humid Lie is suorted not by water alling as rain but as hovering mist that condenses on the oliage :10 V GIANT REDWOODS Two things came to my mind uon writing this movement The irst was the scale and natural beauty o these giant trees oten reerred to in oetry and literature as cathedrallike The other was the seeder bike chase rom Return o the Jedi That inamous sequence was shot in the redwood orests o northern Caliornia and is synonymous with that landscae As such this movement lightly quotes a musical cue rom the ilm in the setting o an ethereal hymn 2:0
