4 - l - INTRODUCTION During the winter of 1983, an electromagnetic (VLF) survey was carried out over 24 of the 28 claims which make up the Coulson tl-82 claim group. The 24 claims (listed in the accompanying technical data statement) covered in this report are located in lots 4 to 8 inclusive, concession I I of Coulson Township, District of Cochrane, Province of Ontario. In June 1982, Hollinger personnel staked 8 claims covering the N.% o f Con.II in lots 6 and 7; later in 1982, 20 additional claims were staked. No work has previously been filed for assessment credits. The claims are located roughly 9.6 miles northeast of Matheson, Ontario. Access to the property is provided by the Painkiller Lake gravel road which leads to the southeast corner of the claim group. Topographic relief within the claim group is relatively large {^200'), with an abandoned fire lookout tower situated in the southeast corner of the claim group. Vegetation consists of fairly extensive beaver meadow in the east central portion and rolling spruce and poplar ridges in northern and western part of the claim group. PREVIOUS WORK Work previously filed for assessment credits on the claims which now make up the Coulson #1-82 claim group included airborne magnetic and electromagnetic surveys. These were filed by Union Carbide Explorations Ltd. in During the first quarter of 1974, Abitibi Paper Co. Ltd. drilled one hole roughly 2,400' north and 400' east of the #1 post of claim L of the Coulson #1-82 claim group. The hole

5 - 2 - was drilled on a bearing of 190O azimuth at a dip of -55 O. The hole was drilled to test an airborne electro magnetic anomaly which had been confirmed by a follow-up induced polarization survey as well as a vertical loop electromagnetic survey which had been carried out earlier in conjunction with a ground magnetic survey. The drill hole encountered predominantly acid volcanics (flows 4- pyroclastics) which were in places shattered with graphite filling the fractures along with a 37.3" (core length) breccia zone from 358.7" to 396'. The zone was described as fragments of rhyolite in a black graphitic matrix. The zone also contained quartz pyrite-marcasite intergrowths with the marcasite in the form of radial balls of up to 2 cm in diameter. The hole was stopped at 425"; unfortunately no assays are available. During October 1980, Mattagami Lake Mines Ltd. drilled a hole which was collared roughly 295' north and 377' east of the #4 post of Coulson #1-82 claim L and actually inter sected a small portion of this claim at depth. The hole was drilled on a bearing of 200 O azimuth at a dip of -50 O. The predominant rock type encountered was logged as andesite to trachyandesite. The units were described as being fine grained to very fine grained with a green to grey buff grey colour becoming paler buffish green colour with depth. It should also be noted that, when this unit is fractured, graphitic material is commonly found filling the fractures. Also intersected in this hole were three graphitic zones. The first was encountered from meters to meters and was described as being black, vaguely layered at 25 O to 35 0 to the core axis with 2?; pyrite blebs and lenses with minor white quartz. The second graphite zone was from meters to meters, while the third was encountered from meters to meters including a roughly 0.15 meter intersection of massive pyrite. That part of the drill hole which tested ground now held as part of the Coulson #1-82 claim group (i.e. the last 10 meters of the hole) was logged as Andesite

6 - 3 - to Trachyandesite and described as having some interlayered microcrystalline metasediment which shows a faint flow banding or streaked fabric along with sharply outlined fragments of andesite up to 3 cm long floating in the sediment. This hole was stopped at meters and the best of five gold assays provided was.137 grams per ton or roughly.004 ounces per ton while the best silver assay was 6.58 grams per ton or roughly.2 ounces per ton. Adjoining the southwest corner of the Coulson #1 Group in Concession #1 is the ground formerly held by Devon Gold Mines Ltd. who filed a geological report in Between August l, 1940 and October 19, 1940, Devon Gold Mines Ltd. produced 42 ounces of gold and 5 ounces of silver from 2,333 tons of ore. Roughly half of the ore came from surface dumps while the other half came from the South or No. 2 shaft which is situated in lot 7 just south of the Beatty/Coulson township line. The ore was processed on site, utilizing the company's 100 tpd capacity mill. GENERAL GEOLOGY The Coulson #1-82 claim group is believed to be situated on or very near the contact of Jensen's Stoughton- Rouquemaure and the Hunter Mine Groups. Some of the rock types found within the claim group representative of the Hunter Mine Group are calc-alkaline andesite, dacite and rhyolite along with some argillite, while rocks indicative of the Stoughton- Roquemaure Group would include komatiitic flows, gabbroic intrusives and possibly chert and Fe-rich tholeiitic basalts. Structurally the rocks strike roughly east southeast and dip steeply south. Tops determined from pillowed metavolcanics appear to be south.

8 - 4 - SURVEY METHODS (a) Linecutting The 00 base line was established along the south claim line of claims L , L , L , L , L , L and L , bearing 90 O azimuth. The base line was offset 150 meters north as it crossed claims L and L in the extreme west portion of the claim group. The azimuth used was once again 90O. Perpendicular cross lines were established at roughly 100 meter intervals and were numbered from 800 meters east to 2890 meters west (see accompanying plan). Stations were then established along the north-south cross lines at 25 meter intervals. The lines cover the entire property covered in this report. (b) V.L.F. Survey The V.L.F. survey was carried out using a Geonics EM-16 electromagnetic receiver. Transmitting station NAA, situated near Cutler Maine, was used. Thus the primary field direction was 98 O. V.L.F. SURVEY RESULTS The results of the V.L.F. survey are plotted and profiled on the accompanying plan entitled "Coulson No. l, V.L.F. Survey, Coulson Township, Ontario." The ground scale used was 1:5000 (i centimeter equals 50 meters) while the profile scale used was l" ^ 4 0?,.

9 - 5 - Although numerous conductive zones were detected, only those labelled A to Q on the accompanying plan are believed worthy of discussion. Anomaly A, which exhibits very strong in-phase cross overs along at least a 1400 meter strike length from cross line 600mE to SOOmW, is interpreted to be a result of a steep bedrock interface, possibly related to shearing. Anomaly B is roughly 600 meters long from line HOOmW to line ISOOmW and coincides closely with a large outcrop of interbedded metasediments, thus it is interpreted to be caused by graphitic sediments. Anomaly C is located just west of anomaly B and is roughly 500 meters long. The proximity to anomaly B suggests a similar cause; however, it could also be related to a shear similar to anomaly A Anomaly D is situated roughly 300 meters north of anomaly A on lines loome to 600mE and trends subparallel to anomaly A. This anomaly could be indicative of sulphides possibly associated with shearing. Anomaly G is located in the northwest portion of the claim group between lines 2100mW and 2475mW. This anomaly is interpreted to possibly be caused by graphite although conductive overburden effects cannot be ruled out. Anomalies J and K are short (^ meters) conductors located in the east central portion of the claim group. These conductors may be related to bedrock phenomenon. Anomalies E, F, H, I, L, M, N, O, P, and Q are all interpreted to be related to conductive overburden. CONCLUSIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS The V.L/F. survey has successfully outlined a large number of conductive zones. A number of these appear to be definite bedrock

10 - 6 - conductors; this fact, along with the regional geological setting, makes the claim group well worth further work. Recommended work includes follow-up geophysical surveys along with geological mapping to try to further explain the conductive zones.
