3 SUMMARY An EM16R survey was carried out on 2 mining claims located northeast of Kirkland Lake in central Tannahill Township two kilometers north of Webster Lake. The EM16R unit is used to determine the apparent resistivity of the earth by a magnetotelluric measurement of the radiated field from a remote transmitter. In this case the transmitter used was Annapolis, Maryland 21.4 Khz.The data produced by this method is almost equivalent to normal resistivity equipment. The survey results indicate that the depth of overburden penetration was limited by a thick layer of conductive overburden consisting of glaciolacustrine clay and muskeg causing low resistivity and phase angles over most of the survey area. Areas of higher resistivity appear to be due to changes in topography and overburden composition. No responses due to bedrock geology have been interpreted. (D

6 LOCATION AND ACCESS The property is located 40 kilometers north east of Kirkland Lake in central Tannahill Township 2 kilometers north of Webster Lake, No maintained roads are within 3 1/2 miles. The only access to the property is by helicopter. A landing pad has been cut on the south central part of claim L PROPERTY DESCRIPTION The TAG property consists of 6 unpatented mining claims L to L inclusive, located in Tannahill Township, Larder Lake Mining Division. Two of the 6 claims,' L and L were surveyed and are part of this report. TOPOGRAPHY AND VEGETATION Ninety (90?S) percent of the map area is covered by proglacial lacustrine clay or muskeg swamp. A small low sandy ridge l to 3m high occurs on L 5E, 3+00 to 4+50N. A gabbroic outcrop is exposed between L 2+50E and L 3+75E from 0+OON to 1+50N. It is 4 to 6m high with steep sidesto the north and east. (4)

7 All drainage is toward the Magusi River. A fast north flowing creek cute across claim L parallel to L 8+75E. Numerous beaver dams are located along its course. Creeks in the area tend to cut down 2 to 3m into the soft clay. Vegetation consists of a mixed variety of pine, spruce, birch, poplar and tagalders. Most spruce trees encountered were dead. Numerous deadfalls in areas where spruce trees are concentrated made traverses difficult. GEOLOGY Tannahill Township is underlain by Early Precambrian (Archean) volcanic rocks. The rocks are are dominantly calcalkaline {Blake River Group) flows and pyroclastics. Magnesium Tholeiitic flows (Kinojevis Group) rocks occur in the northwestern corner of the township. In this area occurs the Blake River group Kinojevis group contact. The Blake River Group volcanics form a large east trending synclinorium that extends from Benoit Township east into the Noranda area. The source of the volcanics is postulated as being a domal volcanic vent located along the axis of the synclinorium in Clifford and Ben Nevis Townships. (5)

8 The calc-alkaline volcanic rocks consists of basalt, andesite, dacite and rhyolite of this is basalt and andesite. The general strike of these rockt; is northeast with tops to the south. An eastwest anticline occurs in southern Tannahill Township with a complimentary syncline occurring to the north. These are interpreted as local folding that reflect the domal volcanic centres to the south (Jensen 1978), Northeast and north northwest regional faults cross the area. Circular stocks of gabbro, quartz gabbro and diorite occupy 8 to 10SS of the Township. 2 to 4*4 of rocks in the area are syenitic intrusives. They occur only in the south western part of the Township. Only one outcrop occurs in the area of the two claims covered in this report. It is located in the south western corner of claim L It consisted of fine to medium grained gabbro. OGS Map number 2397 indicates that the TAG claim block overlies a gabbroic intrusive body approximately 2 1/2 kilometers long and l kilometer wide. Rocks surrounding the intrusive are dominantly calc-alkaline andesite. Outcrops of rhyolite occur l kilometer south of the claim group. (6)

9 PREVIOUS WORK No previous work has been recorded on these claims, however the area has been previously staked and an old grid is present onthe property, LAC Minerals Ltd. has conducted linecutting, a magnetic survey, VLF survey and geological mapping on the claim group. SURVEY METHODS THE VLF-EM16R (RAIDOHM) SURVEY METHOD The EM16R measures the ratio and the phase angle between the horizontal electric and magnetic fields of the wave propagated by a distant VLF radio transmitter in order to determine the electrical resistivity of the ground. In the case where the earth is of uniform resistivity there is a phase angle of 45 DEG. between these field components. Where horizontal stratification exists and the earth is not of uniform resistivity, the phase angle will generally decrease when a lower more resistive layer is present and increase when a more conductive layer is present. 10 The effective penetration depth of this survey method depends primarily on the electrical resistivity of the earth and very slightly on the frequency of the transmitting station. As can be seen in Fig.3, the higher the terrain resistivity, the greater the effective depth of penetration. SURVEY RESULTS The low resistivity and phase angles observed over most of the property would suggest that the bedrock is overlain by a thick layer of conductive overburden limiting the effective depth penetration of this survey method. The resistivity highs are generally located over drier topographically higher areas. It appears that any changes in the terrain resistivity are the result of changes in overburden composition and thickness and are not responses to bedrock geology. (8)

11 RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS Thick overburden consisting of conductive glaciolacustrine clay and muskeg limit the effective depth penetration of this survey method and cause generally low resistivity and phase angles over most of the property. Areas of higher resistivity may be due to changes in overburden composition and thickness.no bedrock anomalies are apparent from this survey.at this time, no further work is recommended. (9)
