2 t GEOLOGICAL REPORT ON HOUND CHUTE LAKE PROPERTY OF SILVER TOWER MINES LIMITED GILLIES LIMIT COBALT, ONTARIO (p Z A The property is located n Blocks 26 Se. 36 of Gillies Limit about 6 miles south and west of the Town of Cobalt. Two of the southerly claims extend into the northwestern part of Hound Chute Lake. From the east, access to the claims may be gained by a well maintained gravel road from Cobalt to the Hound Chute Hydro-Electric Power plant on the Montreal River. From the river a trail continues 1/2 mile west to Hound Chute Lake. From the west, the property may be reached from Highway #11. 4 miles south of Latchford a gravel road, one mile long, passable to all vehicles leads to Johnson siding on the Ontario Northland Railroad. From this point, tractor roads continue into claim 53229, a distance of 3 miles. 15 contiguous unpatented mining claims comprise the group and are numbered as follows: inclusive; inclusive. The writer, assisted by Murray MacQuarrie of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, mapped the property during the periods 6 ~ 9th October and 15 * 20th October, East-west traverse lines at 400 foot centres tied into two northsouth base lines were cut prior to the mapping by Lloyd McCart, Glen Guppy and Wra. Millward of Temagami, Ontario during October, No established survey stations or lines were known in the immediate area,to which picket line could be tied. From aerial photographs the claim corners were located on the shore of Hound Chute Lake. The property is owned by Silver Tower Mines Limited, Suite 711, 62 Richmond St. W., Toronto, Ontario. The ground was systematically traversed along the existing picket lines which were marked every 50 feet. Conscientious attempts were made to locate all outcrop between the picket lines. TOPOGRAPHY The claim group is marked by a sharp rise, in places almost a cliff which extends in a direction a little west of north from the west shore of Hound Chute Lake to the northwest corner of the claim group. This rapid change in elevation indicates the contact with the Huronian Firstbrook greywacke. To the east the ground is of low relief with considerable swamp and little outcrop.

3 Silver Tower, Hound Chute Lake Feb.' In the northeast corner of the claijn group the ground begins to rise - the under lying rock is diabase but outcrops are scarce. In the southwest portion of the claim group two small overburdened areas of gently sloping, slightly elevated and apparently well drained ground occur with mature stands of maple and birch.trees to 30" in diameter are common.;;. A small percentage of the trees have been cut, probably as veneer logs, but most are badly checked or hollow. The remainder is covered by a thick secondary growth of birch, poplar, spruce and balsam with limited white and red pine. The area has obviously been subjected to several periods of lumbering and only a few scattered mature spruce and red Se. white pine remain. Across the high ground in the southwestern quarter a well developed but small creek flows northeasterly and enters the low swampy central area. A poorly developed drainage system extends northwesterly from the lake across the property. There is nothing other than two small eskers about 20' high to suggest that the overburden is not relatively thin and might be in the order of feet thick. GENERAL GEOLOGY The property lies in the southwestern Cobalt Area where the Nipissing diabase sill is flatlying and either slightly eroded or covered by a thin cover of Huronian sediments. 4 Silver Tower, Hound Chute Lake Feb.165 Algoman Pre-Algoman Temiskaming Keewatin Granite, felsite dikes Intrusive Contact Lamprophyre 4 basic dikes Andesite St. diorite dikes Intrusive Contact Conglomerate, greywacke - Unconformity? - Volcanic sedimentary complex GEOLOGY Coleman Formation The oldest rocks recognized on the property are conglomerate and greywacke of the Coleman Formation, Two areas exist - one in the northwest corner; the other in the south central portion of the ground. In the northwest the pebbles are small and numerous and in sections the rock can be properly called "grit". In the south only greywacke was observed. Lorrain Formation Well bedded flatlying greywacke covers the western part of the property. Purplish grey in colour, the formations are remarkably uniform, massive and monotonous. Weathering produces large angular block. Nipissing Diabase Fine grained diabase suggesting proximity to the upper contact of the sill is exposed in the south central parts of the property. An irregular but flatlying contact with a very fine grained chilled edge can be seen in two outcrops on claims and The north and northeast face of the large outcrop on claim rises abruptly from the low ground. Within 50 feet of the contact the diabase exhibits a pronounced reddish alteration and looks not unlike granite. Near the coloured phase and the contact, flatlying lensic quartz veins, 2-6" wide, with sparse chalcopyrite occur. The face of this outcrop and the one to the northeast have been investigated by blasting over small areas to a depth of one or two feet to expose the quartz veins. Topography suggests a possible fault immediately east of the large outcrop on claim No silver or cobalt mineralization were observed. It can be assumed that the surface has been carefully prospected in earlier days. However, to the writer's knowledge, no work other than the blasting mentioned above has been done on the property. SUMMARY ft CONCLUSIONS The Nipissing diabase sill which is the geologically important

5 Silver Tower, Hound Chute Lake Feb k - economic feature of the Cobalt Area underlies the entire property. It is flatlying and almost complete intact. In parts erosion has apparently been light. Elsewhere the diabase is covered by a thin layer of Cobalt series sediments. Both favourable contacts of the diabase sill are therefore present on the property The upper contact is exposed or is thinly covered by Cobalt Series sediments. The lower contact is probably 1,000 feet below surface. The only possible exploration target is immediately east of the large outcrop on claim Two or three shallow holes, maximum total of 900 feet, might be considered to jtes't the contact area in the vicinity of the reddish alteration phase in the diabase and in an area of possible faulting.
