SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS The geological survey of the September Group of 19 contiguous claims encountered outcrop in the southern portion; however, the area was mostly dominated by a spruce swamp to the west and a sand plain in the east portion of the map area. The survey was completed by the undersigned during July and August, The outcrop mapping verified the series of mafic metavolcanics trending in an easterly (Az.70 0 ) direction, as previously mapped (1947) by J. Satterly. There was no significant evidence of economic mineralization. The lithology does not reveal the presence of faulting except for shearing along the trend. The only evidence for faulting is based on topographic observations and previous magnetometer surveys, and the only "fault" detected by these methods is represented by a wet, swampy valley parallel to line 20W, south of the baseline. Geophysical and geochemical surveys and perhaps an over burden drilling programme in the eastern area are likely the most viable exploration surveys for this group, followed by drilling any suitable targets. INTRODUCTION This geological survey covers 19 contiguous claims assignated the "September Group". These claims are located in the eastern part of Michaud Township, Larder Lake Mining Division, and also in Garrison Township. 4 2. LOCATION AND ACCESS The claim group is located in the southeast corner of Michaud Township and includes four adjoining claims in Garrison Township. The southeastern boundary straddles Dewhirst Lake. The area is accessible from Highway 101, approximately 28 kilometres east of the village of Matheson, via a well-used gravel road south from Highway 101. Approximately 8 kilometres south on this road an old timber road marked "Dewhirst Lake" turns south and cuts across the northern part of the group. PREVIOUS EXPLORATION The earliest reported exploration relative to this property was by Wright-Hargreaves who held the area of the south half of Lot l, concession II, prior to There is no work reported on this particular area; however, Wright-Hargreaves drilled two holes ( ) in the southwest quarter, south half of Lot 10, concession II (considerably to the west). They reported assays in hole 2 of 0.1 oz/ton gold over 3.5 feet in a syenitic rock. In 1967 Amax Exploration drilled two holes in the south half of Lot 4, concession II, with hole KX-26 returning an assay of 0.01 oz/ton gold over 5 feet in altered greywacke. The Garrison Creek property located about one mile to the northwest at Ludgate Lake has had extensive drilling and known gold values in the syenitic rock. In 1983, Falconbridge Nickle, which controls Garrison Creek Consolidated Mines, recut the old grid area and performed geophysical surveys on the ground. In 1978, Nahanni Mines acquired the major portion of their present land holdings to the west of the September Group covered by this report. During the period 1979 to the present, the area has been covered with linecutting, geophysical surveys, and two drilling programmes. Four diamond drill holes were completed by March, DDK M82-1, on claim L , is shown on the map included in this report. In August, 1983 an overburden drilling programme was completed consisting of 15 vertical holes, all located on Nahanni's claims to the west of the September Group. Prior to 1978, claims to the north of the September Group were held by Windjammer and later acquired by A. H. Clark, Sr. Six drill holes have been reported. They cut through metasediments and mafic metavolcanics. One hole is reported to have gold values associated with the iron formation. This group is presently under option to Noranda Mines.

5 3. Moneta Porcupine Mines own several patented claims and have reported significant gold values from their drilling. These patented claims (L et al) adjoin the September Group to the northwest. SURVEY PROCEDURES A grid was cut (35.5 km) as a basis for geological mapping and subsequent geophysical surveys. The baseline cut previously by Nahanni on their Eastern and Central Groups was extended easterly from line 24E to line 40E. North-south grid lines were cut at 100-metre intervals and all 25-meter stations were picketed. A second baseline was cut at 700 metres south, from line 18E to line 40E. Tie-lines were cut as controls. The mapping was conducted by making traverses between the grid lines and along the grid lines. In many cases, the out crop was extensively covered by moss and required a certain amount of stripping for adequate observation. TOPOGRAPHY The area is dominated to the west by a vast spruce swamp/ and the east by a sand plain/ sand hills/ etc., of aeolian deposits. Along the southern boundary/ claims L /-55/-56/ the ground is higher and more rugged due to the numerous exposures of bedrock. The higher ground region is primarily a mature mixed forest with large poplar/ birch and balsam trees. The northern portion of the map area, on the said plain, has been timbered and at one time burnt. The major portion has been reforested with jack pine which are presently from five to seven feet tall. There are remnants of areas of poplar trees where the bush was not timbered. The new undergrowth is very thick and comprises poplar, alders and small willow. The sand-plain area has some sand ridges (aeolian) and a gradual slope to the northeast where the land is very high. REGIONAL GEOLOGY The regional geology is best summarized by J. Satterly (map , ODM) in his geological report of His mapping of the area remains the best reference.

6 4. The trend of the rock is approximately east-west. The area is dominated by a series of volcanic flows, felsic, mafic and ultramafic with some sedimentary interlayers. These have been intruded by syenite and granite. The major structural feature of the region is the Destor- Porcupine Fault which crosses Michaud Township from east to west along a curved trace. There is considerable carbonate associated with the fault zone and there are reportedly numerous subsidiary faults branching to the northwest and southeast. There is a large intrusive body of syenite and granite that extends east-west across Michaud but does not extend to the boundaries. It hosts the Garrison Creek (Falconbridge) Ludgate Lake gold deposit. The syenite contains porphyritic feldspar and is strongly hematized in the area of the gold mineralization. PROPERTY GEOLOGY The only rock type observed in the outcrop area is a series of metavolcanics. These are mainly mafic and appear to comprise mostly a thoellitic basalt. The major difference noted was in the texture whereby the rocks vary from a fine-grained black-green rock through a medium-grained green-black rock to a medium-tocoarse-grained basalt. These differences have been noted on the accompanying maps by the letters "f", "m", "c", respectively. Well-preserved pillows are present as well as thin bands about 3 cm. thick of variolitic mafic volcanics. The general strike of the rock is 70 0 Az. although there are local variances up to Az. The pillow lengths comply to the regional trend and, although difficult to ascertain, it appears that the tops are north facing. The rock dips steeply southward about This agrees with the regional geology that depicts all rocks south of the Destor-Porcupine Fault face south. Carbonates are not plentiful; however, there are some areas where carbonate was detected in the fine-grained and medium-grained volcanics. There is no direct evidence of faulting from the out crops observed. However, it appears that, from topographic features and a previous magnetometer survey in the area, a fault likely exists just east of and parallel to line 20R, for at least 500 metres north and south of line 700S.

10 RECOMMENDATIONS No mineralization of interest was noted in the area mapped, hence future work should be based on geophysical or geochemical surveys. Drilling in the area of DDH-M82-1, in which low gold values were found in a mineralized chert, is recommended, should the recently completed geophysical survey indicate a favourable drill target. For the sand plain area along the eastern boundary, a geochemical survey or an overburden drilling programme is suggested. The selection of holes for overburden drilling should be based on two parallel lines of holes 300 meters apart in the "down-ice" direction from the north boundary to the edge of the sand plain, about 800S.
