3 .0 INTRODUCTION During the months of September and October, 1984, Induced Polari zation/resistivity and Magnetic surveys were carried out on the Hope Lake property in an attempt to map the subsurface distribution of sulphides and to assist in the geological mapping in order to better locate and define auriferous shear zones. 2.0 LOCATION. ACCESS AND GRID The property consists of one hundred and sixteen (116) claims of which thirty-five (35) claims were surveyed (see Appendix I). The property is in the Kenora Mining Division, approximately 60 kilometers south/southeast of the town of Kenora. Access to the property is via the Ministry of Natural Resources Forest Access Road (Maybrun) along the north shore of Lobstick Bay, Lake of the Woods. The 27 line kilometer grid consists of 27 picket lines controlled by 2.7 kilometers of baseline. Picket lines were established at 100-meter intervals with a station spacing of 25 meters. 3.0 PERSONNEL Overall supervision of the work was by D Division Geophysicist, while R. Swire, L. Manson and S on the project. All are Noranda personnel. R. Car ri er e, Moran worked 4.0 INSTRUMENTATION 4. 1 Induced Polarization/Resistivity System A Scintrex IPR-8 receiver was employed on this survey with a Phoenix IPT-1 Transmitter. The survey was carried out in the time domain employing a gradient array. The transmit time was 2 seconds on off. The current electrodes were separated by approximately 1 kilometer while the potential electrodes were separated by 25 meters. Generally the transmitted current was in the range of 1 to 2 amps measured to an accuracy of 5%. The potential voltage was measured to the nearest millvolt. The apparent resistivity was calculated using the equation R- K*V/I were "R" is the apparent resistivity, "K" is the geometric constant for the electrode array, "V" is the potential voltage measured during the on time, and "I" is the applied current measured during the on time.

6 The IP effect is measured during the off time. It is a easure of the decay of the secondary electrical field developed. In this case the chargeability was measured from 130 to 1690 ms (i.e. the standard single slice on the IPR 8). Readings were taken every 25 meters. J A.2 Magnetometer The "Unimag" G.836 Proton precession magnetometer manufactured by Exploranium Geometries of Ontario and the Scintrex MP- 3 manufactured by Scintrex Ltd. of Concord, Ontario, were utilized on this survey. The total field measurement is read with a 10 and 0.1 nts respectively and all recorded values were diurnal and day-to-day variations. The correction determined from the base station Readings were recorded intervals and plotted in plan at a datum of 59,000 nts. resolution of corrected for values were at 12.5-meter 5.0 GEOLOGY The area is underlain by mafic volcanics trending northeast. Regionally the dip is sub vertical to the southeast, but locally there may be dips to the northwest. On the southeast part of the property a quartz monzonite stock outcrops. The main direction of shearing is N50E and the metamorphic grade is lower greenschist facies. 6.0 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS Results of the magnetic survey indicate the background is in the range of 700 to 900 nts. Variation in the total field is from 8190 to -241 nts. The main feature on the Mag map is the linear grid east/west trending highs. These are thought to be concentrations in magnetite along the mafic flows. There is an association between some of these highs and the IP anomalies indicating that the magnetics may, in part, be produced by pyrrhotite. The other significant feature is a broad area of high magnetics in the south central part of the grid between lines 32E and 40E. The zone is about 200 meters wide with a narrow (50 meter) linear feature along the north part of the zone. It is felt that this zone represents a magnetite-rich mafic flow. The IP/Resistivity survey located some polarizable zones. These are labelled A to D on Map 2. Zone A is divided into three parts (A, A 11 and A 111 ). The body has a maximum chargeability of 26 mils and extends the length of the grid. The response represents an increase in sulphide concentration along this part of the property. On zones A and A 111 there is a magnetic anomaly to the south of the IP anomaly. This zone is also related to a resistivity high and therefore appears to be representing a geological change more than a specific body. Zone B has a maximum chargeability of 62 mils, extends for

7 .50 meters and is associated with very low resistivity. The area ground the zone is magnetically flat. Some sulphides were found in the area. Zone C has a maximum chargeability of 29 mils and a strike length of 200 meters. The anomaly is within the broad magnetic high but does not seem to be related to any specific part of the response. The zone is related to low resistivity. Zone D has a maximum chargeability of 84 mils and a strike length of up to 300 meters. It is directly related to a magnetic high and is associated with low resistivity. This zone is on strike with and may be a continuation of Zone C. The resistivity survey displays a great deal of variation, from 221 to 187K ohm-m. To some extent these values reflect the depth of overburden as the areas with deeper overburden display lower resistivities. The results have located a resistivity high running through the property which roughly corresponds to Zone A. On the southern part of the property there is another high running across the property. The lows in the northern portion of the property reflect its swampy terrain. 7.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS The results of the IP/Resistivity survey have located some anomalous responses as indicated above. It is felt that limited Dipole Di-pole array on one line across these responses would better define the anomaly. Due to the lack of encouraging geological or geochemical results, no further work is recommended.
