A MACGREGOR c.rng PAGE NO ^ Report on Gcochomical, Magnetometer (f. 4,.J f~f- 5 r and VLF-KM Surveys, I.awf Jntro U Ction 4^^ , LAWSON inecutting on parts of five claims in north-west Lawson Township was carri d out in September, 1976 followed by soil sampling and a VLF-EM sur vey. ]n January 3977 ]inecutt ing was completed by extended lines across water covered areas, followed by a VLF-EM survey and magnetometer-survey of t h ' entire propery. MacGregor, 134 Palace Drive, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Secondary Highway 560 passes one mile north of theproperty, about 7 mi l of east of the t own of Gowganda. There is a bush trail from the high way t ) t lie old shaft marked on the map. Prevj ms Exploration There are two sets of old workings on the property. The first, the Keori shaft was sunk beiore 1912 to a depth of 275 feet, with levels at 102, 147, 195 and 270 feet. A small production was reported for Some furtl?r work was carried out in 1926 when 760 tons of ore were mined. The most recent work was in the ear]y 1960's when some diamond drilling was carr rd out. The second set of workings consists of an adit in the south west cor ner i f the property which was reportedly driven about It is 515 ft. in l ngth with some drifting and short winx.es. Geolc jy The c] aims cover a part of the Nipissing diabase still at the east side )f the Miller Lake Basin. A number of narrow feeder dykes outcrop to tl? south of the property. Patches of metavolcanics and cobalt Group sedir?nts indicate that the outcrop is near the top of the sill. Thickness of tl? sill is unknown. At the Siscoe and Tretheway mines some 4 or 5 miles to tl 2 west it is 800 feet thick, but thins to the north and south. barrow calcite veins carrying silver occur in the diabase. The silver occui s as flakes in a sugary white calcite. \ b ase line was laid out in a north-east; south-west direction across the i Duth part of the property. Cross lines were run north-west and southeast at 400 foot intervals. All lines were chained and picketed at 100 foot interval s. Magnetometer readings were taken with a Sharpe MF-1 fluxgate magnetoinete: at 100 foot intervals. The looping method was used for control of diur nal variation. In this method a base station is selected, and readings take: along lines describing a loop, arriving back at the starting base stat on in less than two hours. A second loop is then started using either the ame base station or another which is tied to the previous loop. Read ngs are then corrected for diurinal variation by assuming the time be- twee readings is the 1 same and distributing any variation equally among the inte vining readings. No correction was applied less than the accuracy of the tat i on readings.

3 R. A MACGREGOI f T NG. PAGE NO. 3 k VLF-EM was carried out using a Crone Radem instrument set to the sign* l from Cutler, Maine O 7. 8 KH2). Readings were taken at 100 foot in- terv.' Is using the procedure outlined in Appendix 1. The looping method was i sed for control of variation, the same as described for the magneto- mete: survey excepting that the time was noted for each station. Soil samples were taken along the lines cut using an auger to obtain a sai pie at a depth of A"--6" ('A' soil horizon). A few duplicate samples were taken at a depth of 12"-18" ('B' soil horizon). The samples were plac d in plastic bags and numbered in the field. The samples were later drie', examined and placed in paper envelopes. The samples were shipped to A sayers Ltd, Rouyn Quebec where they were screened to -80 mesh, decomp scd by hot Cu concentrate nitrate and analysed for silver and cobalt by a ornic adsorption method. t s and ^- on elusions There are a number of anomalously high or low readings scattered a- cros the property. They are believed due to variable magnetite content of t e diabsc. There does not appear to be any correlation with the known mine ali station. V F-F.M Dip angles are relatively constant across the property. There are some weak cross-overs in the Calcite Lake area which could be due to lake bott m sediments or north trending fault (s). Attempts to check the pos- sibi ity of a north trending fault were unsuccessful in that a sufficiently strc ig and consistent signal from the Balboa, Panama station could not be picv '.d up on the two days it was tried. The mineralized calcite fractures do r it appear to give a VLF response.

Five samples were also taken from the 'B' soil horizon as a check Silver is anomalous in two areas of known mineralization near the Bisho i adit and north-east of the Keora shaft. Cobalt is anomalous in the same.reas with a somewhat broader pattern. In addition an anomalous sam ple i i found at NW on line 8SW. This area should be checked for a possi ile vein parallel to the known veins at Bishop adit and the Keora shaft From the limited number of samples taken the 'B' soil horizon would appef - to be a better sampling medium than the 'A 1. Samples from the 'B' soil lorizon in anomalous areas are sharply higher while non anomalous areas are 3 )wer giving a much better contrast. Cobalt would be preferred over silvt ' cobal : for reconnaissance geochemical surveys for narrow vein silver- mineralization on the results of this survey. Feb. 7, Respectfull^y submitted X R. A.
