LCATIN AND ACCESS The Graphite Grup prperty is lcated apprximately 41.5 km sutheast f Manituwadge, 56 km nrtheast f Marathn, and 1 km nrthwest f White River, ntari (Figure 1). The Heml gld depsit is lcated apprximately 22.5 km t the suthwest. The prperty is lcated n the east shre f White Lake, apprximately 1.75 km suth f Manid Island and 5.5 km west f Patina Lake (Figure 2). The prperty is cvered by N.T.S. map sheet 42C/1 and by claim map G-622, White Lake (nrth part) (Map l, back pcket). The prperty is accessible via mtr vehicle fllwed by travel in bat and then n ft. Frm the intersectin f highways 614 and 17, prceed easterly alng highway 17 fr apprximatety 17 km t an unnamed gravel rad. This rad leads nrth t a public bat launch lcated n the west shre f The Narrws f White Lake. Prceed nrtherly, via bat, alng the east side f White Lake fr apprximately 6 km t the vicinity f the prperty. TPGRAPHY AND VEGETATIN The prperty is bunded t the west by White Lake and t the east by a small creek surrunded by swampy grund. A 75 m high, nrtherly-trending, flat-tpped, lcally steep-sided ridge ccupies mst f the suthern half f the prperty. A smaller, nrtherly-trending ridge ccurs near the nrth bundary f the prperty adjacent t White Lake. Rck utcrps generally cnstitute less than 59b f the surface area and cmmnly ccur alng the shre f White Lake and alng the ridges. The creek bunding the east side f the prperty is dammed in several places and is navigable nly fr a shrt distance upstream frm White Lake. Vegetatin cnsists f ver-mature spruce, pplar and birch intergrwn with secnd generatin pplar, birch and lcally spruce. Cedar and black spruce ccur in the lw areas alng the shre f White Lake and alng the creek. Dead-fallen trees ccur lcally, especially n tp f the ridges, but d nt significantly impede travel n ft.

PREVIUS EXPLRATIN The area surrunding and including the Graphite Grup prperty has received relatively little previus mineral explratin. T the knwledge f the authr, n diamnd drilling has been cnducted n the prperty. A synpsis f the wrk perfrmed n the prperty and filed fr assessment credit with the Ministry f Nrthern Develpment and Mines and/r cmpiled by ministry staff is given, in chrnlgical rder, belw: : Prtins f the present prperty were staked intermittently by several parties, including D. Carrll, but n wrk was recrded fr assessment credit In 1965, the area surrunding and including the prperty was examined and mapped by V.G. Mime (1966, 1968a, 1968b) fr the ntari Department f Mines. 1976: The area surrunding and including the prperty was staked and transferred t Nranda Explratin Cmpany Limited but, again, n wrk was recrded fr assessment credit : A reginal lake sediment and water gechemical survey was cnducted in the area by the Gelgical Survey f Canada and the ntari Ministry f Natural Resurces (Gelgical Survey f Canada 1979; Priske et al. 1991). Several samples were cllected frm lakes in the vicinity f the prperty. The riginal samples were reanalyzed in 1990 fr gld and 25 ther elements (Priske et al. 1991). The samples cllected frm lakes in the vicinity f the prperty did nt cntain anmalus amunts f gld, nr base metals (Priske et al. 1991). 198: Aerdat Limited cnducted an airbrne gephysical survey (HLEM, VLF-EM, MAG) f apprximately 1570 km2 in the Heml area. This survey included the area cmprising the Graphite Grup prperty. 1984: The area cmprising the prperty was examined and mapped by G.M. Siragusa (1985) fr the ntari Gelgical Survey. Siragusa nted the presence f gssanus rck n the prperty (Siragusa 1985, Gssans 47, 48, and 49). Grab samples cllected frm Gssan 47 returned assay values f up t 45 ppb Au (Siragusa 1985) present The area cmprising the current prperty was staked and recrded in the name f D. Carrll. In 1990, prspectrs D. Carrll and G. Carrll cnducted prspecting, stripping, trenching, and sampling n what they termed the Graphite Grup claim blck, which cmprised 16 cntiguus claims (Gall 1990a). The trenches were mapped and sampled later that year by E. Gall (1990b) f Gall Explratin Services Inc. Grab samples cllected frm the trenches returned assay values f up t 0.004

unces f gld per tn, 0.2 unces f silver per tn, 6400 ppm cpper, and 6854 ppm zinc (Gafl 1990a). In 1991, Gall Explratin Services Inc., wrking n behalf f D. Carrll, cnducted line cutting, grund magnetic and electrmagnetic surveys and sil gechemical sampling n the prperty (Gall 1992 a, b, c). Althugh n significant explratin targets were identified by this wrk, Gall never the less felt that the prperty warranted additinal prspecting fr gld and base metals (Gall 1991). In 1992, the recrded wner f the claims, Daniel Carrll, passed away and the claims were transferred t Dreen Carrll. N additinal wrk was recrded, and all f the claims, except fr TB , which cvered the main cpper-zinc shwing, were allwed t lapse. In 199, the cpper-zinc shwing was examined and sampled by D.B. McKay (1994) fr the ntari Gelgical Survey. Grab samples cllected fr the trenches returned assay values f up t 2 ppb gld, 640 ppm cpper, and 4610 ppm zinc (McKay 1994). In 1994, the area surrunding the cpper-zinc shwing was restaked by Winslw Gld Crpratin and these claims, tgether with the ne cvering the cpper-zinc shwing, nw cnstitute Winslw Gld Crp.'s Graphite Grup prperty.

REGINAL AND LCAL GELGY The prperty is lcated in the Wawa subprvince and is underlain primarily by a nrthnrthwesterly-trending sequence f mafic metavlcamc and clastic metasedimentary rcks which cmprise a prtin f the eastern end f the nrth limb f the Schreiber-Heml greenstne belt (Milne 1966, 1968a, 1968b; Milne et al 1972; ntari Gelgical Survey 1991a-g; Siragusa 1985). These rcks are lcally strngly fliated (170tV800W) and mineral assemblages indicate they have experienced lwer amphiblite facies-grade reginal metamrphism (Milne 19685). m the vicinity f the prperty, the supracrustal sequence is apprximately 650m wide, and is bunded t the east and west by grandiritic rcks f the Dtted Lake Bathlith (Milne 1968b; Siragusa 1985; Figure 2). The prperty is lcated near the centre f the belt within a 250 m wide sequence f clastic metasedimentary rcks flanked t the east and west by amphiblitic mafic metavlcamc rcks (Milne 1968b; GaU 1990b). The metavlcanic and metasedimentary rcks in the vicinity f the prperty have been intruded lcaqy by feldspar-prphyritic sifls, diabase dikes and veins f quartz. The White Lake Fault, a reginal-scale, nrtheast-trending structure, is lcated apprximately 4.5 km t the west (Milne 1968b). Several gld and base metal ccurrences are reprted t ccur in the nrth limb f the Schreiber-Heml greenstne belt in the area surrunding the prperty (McKay 1994; Figure 2). These include ther graphitic, shear zne-hsted cpper and zinc ccurrences similar t the ne present n the Graphite Grup prperty. T date, nne f these ccurrences have been shwn t cntain ecnmic amunts f gld r base metals. EXPLRATIN PRCEDURES A gelgical mapping and prspecting survey was cnducted n the Graphite Grup prperty by D.B. McKay and M. Veltri during the perid frm July 15 t Jury 21, Five days were spent n the prperty perfrming the survey. The survey was cnducted alng the shre f White Lake and alng claim lines where pssible. Apprximately km f shreline and 9 km f claim line were mapped, prspected and sampled (Figure ). The mapping was cnducted at a scale f l :2500. Thirty-five grab samples were cllected and assayed t determine their gld, silver, cpper and zinc cntent (Appendices I and H; Map 2). Spatial cntrl was maintained by utilizing a hip-chain and a cmpass. During me survey, accmmdatins were prcured at White Lake Ldge which is lcated adjacent t the Highway 17, apprximately 0 km west f the twn f White River.

PRPERTY GELGY The gelgy f the prperty is described in detail by Gall (1990a, 1990b, 1991, 1992a, 1992b, and 1992c) and by McKay (1994). The gelgical mapping cnducted during the present survey cnfirmed generally the findings f these wrkers. In summary, the prperty is underlain primarily by a nrthwesterly-trending sequence f intercalated mafic metavlcanic and clastic metasedimentary rcks that have been intruded lcally by fliatin-parallel and fliatincrsscutting sills and dikes f bth mafic and felsic cmpsitins, and by narrw veins f quartz (Map 2). The metasedimentary rcks are sheared lcally and have been mineralized lcally, with variable amunts f pyrite, pyrrhtite, chalcpyrite and sphalerite. The mafic metavlcanic rcks are typically lcally rusty-weathering, dark green t black, generally mderately fliated, medium-grained, nn-magnetic, nn-calcareus amphiblitic schists. The fliatin in these rcks varies in strike frm 145 t 165 degrees, and in dip frm 75 t 85 degrees west. Trace amunts f fine-grained disseminated pyrite were present in mst f the rck examined. Purple, subhedral garnet prphyrblast up t 5 mm in diameter ccur lcally. The clastic metasedimentary rcks ccur as relatively thin beds within the amphiblitic mafic metavlcanic sequence. The metasedimentary rcks were bserved in tw lcatins n the prperty. They utcrp intermittently alng the ridge mat bisects the suthern part f the prperty, and are expsed n a small pint f land jutting ut int White Lake near the western edge f the prperty (Map 2). They are best expsed in the trenches emplaced n the cpper-zinc shwing lcated at the nrthern end f the afrementined ridge. The metasedimentary rcks are typically thinly banded (n a cm scale), lcally rusty-weathering, light t dark gray, mderately fliated t lcally sheared, medium-grained, bititic, lcally graphitic, nn-calcareus, quartz-feldspathic schists. The fliatin in these rcks varies in strike and dip within the ranges quted abve fr the mafic metavlcanic rcks. The bitite-rich metasedimentary schists may represent metamrphsed graywacke, while thse prer in bitite and rich in feldspar may represent metamrphsed arkse. The mafic intrusive rcks examined during the present survey cmprise 2 large, nrthwesterly- and nrtherly-trending diabase dikes. These rcks are typically brwnishweathering, dark green, massive, medium- t carse-grained, lcady mderately magnetic and cntain less than l0/** pyrite as fine- t medium-grained anhedral grains. The felsic intrusive rcks ccur primarily alng the western and eastern margins f the prperty and envelpe and intrude lcally the supracrustal rcks. These intrusive rcks are typically buff-weathering, pinkish, weakly fliated, carse-grained rcks f granitic t grandiritic cmpsitin. They were bserved t cntain numerus runded xenliths f amphiblite in several lcatins prximal t the western cntact with the mafic metavlcanic rcks. Quartz-feldspar and feldspar prphyritic, fliatin-parallel sills ccur widely distributed within the metavlcanic and metasedimentary rcks. Narrw (less than l mm t 50 cm wide), fliatin-parallel and fliatin-crsscutting quartz veins als ccur lcally. These quartz veins are glassy-white and generally barren-lking.

During the present examinatin f the prperty, several ld trenches (varying in size up t 7 m lng by m wide by l m deep) were lcated and sampled. Fr reference purpses, these have been termed trenches l t 4 in accrdance with the numbering system emplyed by Gall (1990a, 1990b). An additinal trench, referred t as trench 5 in this reprt, was lcated immediately suth f Gall's trench 1. These trenches expse sulphide mineralizatin within sheared clastic metasedimentary rcks. The gelgy f these trenches is described in detail by Gall (1990b). Examinatin f trenches l, 2, and 5 lcated n claim TB shwed that up t 25*M) pyrrhtite, pyrite and minr amunts f chalcpyrite and sphalerite ccur lcally within a l t m wide, graphitic shear zne within feldspar- and quartz-rich, banded, clastic metasedimentary rcks. The sulphide minerals ccur as fine-grained disseminated grains, irregularly shaped masses, and narrw fliatin-parallel stringers. This shear zne was traced alng strike fr apprximately 0 m. The cpper and zinc mineralizatin is distributed erratically within this zne. Thirty-five grab samples were cllected frm the prperty and assayed t determine their gld, silver, cpper and zinc cntent. These samples are described in Appendix I, their lcatins are given n Map 2, and the assay results given in Appendix H. The highest assay values btained frm these samples were 7 ppb gld, 4 ppm silver, 608 ppm cpper and 1 ppm zinc. 10

CNCLUSINS 1. The gelgical mapping cnducted during the present survey cnfirmed generally the findings f previus wrkers. 2. Examinatin f the Graphite Grup prperty shwed it t be underlain primarily by a nrthwesterly-trending sequence f mafic metavlcanic and clastic metasedimentary rcks that have been intruded lcally by diabase, granitid rcks and narrw quartz veins. Cpper- and zinc-bearing sulphide mineralizatin ccurs within a relatively narrw (l t m wide) graphitic shear zne within the clastic metasedimentary rcks. Grab samples cllected frm the sulphide-mineralized zne returned assay values f up t 7 ppb gld, 4 ppm silver, 608 ppm cpper and 1 ppm zinc. This shear zne was traced alng strike fr apprximately 0 m.. The ecnmic ptential f this shwing Is restricted by its lw metal cntent, its narrw width and the erratic distributin f the cpper- and zinc-bearing minerals within it. 4. N new gld nr base metal ccurrences were discvered during the present examinatin f the prperty. RECMMENDATINS Althugh the explratin cnducted n the prperty t date (Gall 1990a, 1990b, 1991, 1992a, 1992b and 1992c) has failed t discver ecnmical amunts f gld r base metals, the recent discvery f gld-bearing quartz veins by prspectrs D. Carrll (nw deceased) and D. MacDugall n claims lcated apprximately 1.5 km t the suth f the Graphite Grup prperty (McKay 1994) is encuraging and suggests prspecting n the Graphite Grup prperty fr gldbearing quartz veins may be warranted. The clastic metasedimentary unit hsting the cpper-zinc shwing shuld be thrughly prspected alng strike t the suth. Rck expsure in this area is generally pr and trenching may be required t reach bedrck. Any sulphide-mineralized rcks discvered shuld be analyzed t determine their gld and base metal cntent. 11
