3 1. Summary The Nault prperty cnsists f 25 claims cvering a gld-cpper prspect alng the Armstrng Rad 100 kms nrth f Thunder Bay. Twenty f the claims were acquired by ptin frm Bill Hayne, a lcal prspectr, in Five additinal claims are whlly wned by Mingld Resurces Inc. Hayne has a 15* net prfits interest. A gssanus shear zne in mafic vlcanics is expsed in a rad cut. The shear with accmpanying chalcpyrite assayed Au/tn ver 2.5 feet with grab samples in the z/tn range. The area has nt been previusly explred fr gld but base metal wrk in the 19"s lcated many small sulphide shwings in the vicinity with visible cpper. Mst f the shwings are in the mafic vlcanic sequence r alng a quartz feldspar prphyry cntact. Five drill hles by Phelps Ddge in 1975 als intersected minr chalcpyrite within altered vlcanics and felsic intrusives but the gld-cpper relatinship was nt recgnized. Gvernment mapping suggests that the vlcanic sequence is a flded remnant f the Heaven Lake greenstne belt. n a larger scale the Heaven Lake greenstne belt may be the western extensin f the Beardmre-Geraldtn greenstne package which is lcated t the east f Lake Nipign (see lcatin map). In the fall f 1988 the claim blck was cvered with magnetic and VLF-EM surveys n a 100 metre spacing. The magnetic data is f little use but numerus VLF cnductrs with the same ENE trend as the shear are utlined. Sme f these cnductrs cincide r are near the cpper shwings reprted frm the base metal wrk. Sme gelgical mapping and sil sampling was carried ut befre winter cnditins arrived. Fr 1989 it is prpsed that the gelgical mapping be cmpleted with detailed fllw-up in areas f the cpper shwings and VLF cnductrs. A 1000 metre drill prgram (8 hles x 125 metres) is included as a secnd phase t test the gephysical and surface targets. Estimated cst f the prgram is 6103,000.

4 Lcatin and Access The Nault Prperty is lcated alng Highway 527 (Armstrng Rad) abut 100km nrth f Thunder Bay. The claims straddle the paved highway 68 miles nrth f its junctin with Highway f17. Majr lakes in the area are Pshkkagan Lake 5 km t the sutheast and Lac des Iles km t the suthwest. The claims extend west f the rad 1.2 km t the east shre f Nault Lake and east f rad a maximum f 3 claim lengths. Tw ld lgging rads n the prperty prvide reasnable access t mst areas f the claims. The rad west f the highway (Pig. 3). is suitable fr 2-wheel vehicles t the vicinity f Nault Lake. A pr rad in the sutheast crner f the blck is f limited use because f wet sectins. The prperty is lcated within NTS and ' lngitude. 52H/6 and centred n ' latitute 3. Prperty wnership (fig. 2) The prperty cnsists f 25 cntiguus claims as shwn n the Wabikn Lake Claim Map (G-773). The initial tw claims were staked by Bill Hayne in late June - early. July Anther 18 claims were added n July 29-30, 1989 as part f the terms f an ptin agreement Mr. Hayne signed with Mingld Resurces Inc. In, 1989 Mingld added an additinal five claims n the nrthwest crner f the blck. Fr a cmplete listing f the individual claims and their assessment status see Table 1.

8 District Explratin Histry Accrding t Hdgins (1975) prspecting has been carried ut in the general area since befre Wrld War II when a gld shwing was discvered near Garden Lake km t the nrthwest f Nault Lake. In the mre immediate area little wrk seems t have been dne until the early 19's when cnstructin f the Armstrng Rad allwed easier access int the district. At the same time gvernment gelgical mapping detailed the Garden Lake and Heaven Lake greenstne belts which attracted the attentin f base metal explrers. In 1964 Fred Ksel drilled 3 shrt hles n the suthwest side f Wabikn Lake (Fig. 3). The hles intersected brecciated limestne and Sibley sandstne f Upper Prterzic age. In 1965 Steep Rck Irn Mines carried ut gelgical mapping, magnetic and gechemical surveys n the grund presently held by Hingld Resurces. They lcated minr disseminated chalcpyrite. Later, in 1970, Phelps Ddge drilled five hles in the nrtheast part f the frmer Steep Rck prperty. They reprted intersecting pyrite and minr chalcpyrite in altered felsic metavlcanics. Fr mre details n this wrk see "Prir Prperty Explratin". In 1972 Mineral Resurces Internatinal (MRI) ptined a 12 claim prperty n Whistle Lake, 3.5 km nrthwest f Nault Lake, (fig. 3). Accrding t Sage et al (1974) a zne f massive pyrrhtite and pyrite, appraching 50 feet in thickness and extending fr ver 0 feet in strike length, ccurs between a felsic metavlcanic tuff t the suth and a banded chert unit t the nrth. Grund EM and bulldzer trenching was carried ut expsing the massive sulphides. ne drill hle was reprted which intersected heavy pyrite/pyrrhtite thrughut, but with n ecnmic values. The mineralizatin was assayed fr cpper and gld. In 1974 Hanna Mining staked tw claim grups in the area fllwing an airbrne EM survey. Grund EM and magnetic surveys, gelgical mapping and diamnd drilled fllwed. ne grup was lcated 1.5 km nrth f the

9 - 7 - present Nault prperty (Fig. 3). Eight EM anmalus znes were delineated within a band abut 700 feet wide f vlcanic units that trend NW-SE acrss the prperty. Five drill hles (H-l t 5) were drilled in Apparently pyrrhtite and pyrite, bth disseminated and as stringers, ccurs in felsic t intermediate tuffaceus rcks. Very minr chalcpyrite and sphalerite? is nted in the lgs. nly 8 drill cre samples were taken, n assays were given. The secnd Hanna claim grup was lcated 2.5 km east f Wabikn Lake (Fig. 3). Again grund EM and magnetic surveys, gelgical mapping and diamnd drilling was cmpleted. A series f interbedded felsic t mafic vlcanic units trend ENE acrss the prperty. The vlcanics are intruded by a leuccratic syenite in the nrth and central prtins and by Keweenawan diabase in the west part f the prperty. Fur drill hles (L-l t 4) investigated grund EM cnductrs. Pyrrhtite and pyrite ccurs in felsic t intermediate tuffs and minr flws. Very minr chalcpyrite was nted in three f the fur drill hles. A ttal f 10 samples were taken frm the drill cre, n assays are given. In 1975 Phelps Ddge drilled 4 widely spaced hles in the felsic metavlcanic sequence that trends E-W just nrth f the Nault Grup. Claim maps f the time indicate 3 grups f claims were staked prbably n airbrne EM anmalies. The apprximate drill hle lcatins are shwn n Fig. 3. The mst westerly hle (150-1) intersected tw ft wide massive sulphide znes in felsic pyrclastics. Gld, silver, cpper and zinc assays gave backgrund values with ne 5.0 ft sample grading 0.02 z Au/tn. Drill hles and 3 are lcated just nrtheast f the Nault Grup. The hles intersected felsic fragmental rcks with sme sulphide bands and breccia znes. A 10 ft sample in hle assayed 0.17* Zn. Gld results were all trace. Hle had minr sampling with negligible values. Drill hle is lcated n the east shre f Lever Lake. After 48 feet f Prterzic mudstne the hle intersected banded irn frmatins and cherty metasediments fr the remainder f its length (582 feet) with shallw cre angles. The bttm 250 feet was pyrrhtite and pyrite-rich prbably as replacement f the irn xides. The sulphide zne was sampled cntinuusly fr gld. All values were trace.

10 - 8 - Fllwing Mlngld's acquisitin f the Nault prperty in /88 apprximately 190 claims were staked by Cumberland Resurces t the nrtheast and nrthwest f Nault Lake. The Cumberland grund cvers the felsic vlcanic units that were investigated by MRI, Hanna and Phelps Ddge in the early 1970's. The apprximate utline f Cumberland's claims is shwn n Fig Prir Prperty Explratin In 1963 during cnstructin f Highway #527 by Abitibi Pulp and Paper C., disseminated chalcpyrite was discvered in a rck cut 1.5 km east f Nault Lake. Early n bulldzer and rck trenching was carried ut within a few hundred feet f the discvery. In March, 1964 Mcintyre Mines cmpleted an IP survey ver a limited area surrunding the shwing. In July, 1965 Steep Rck Irn Mines acquired 30 claims cvering the area and carried ut a prgram f linecutting, magnetic surveys, gelgical mapping and sil sampling. Numerus ccurrences f disseminatins and veinlets f chalcpyrite and pyrite were lcated (Avisn, 1965) but n massive mineralizatin was discvered. Sme f the Steep Rck chalcpyrite ccurrences are shwn n Fig. 3. The cpper sulphide and minr mlybdenite were generally fund alng cntact areas f the quartz feldspar prphyry and basic vlcanics. nly limited sampling was carried ut with a best value f Q.85% Cu, 0.9 z Ag and trace Au acrss 5.0 feet. The magnetic survey shwed little magnetic variatin except fr a Prterzic diabase unit. The sil samples were analyzed fr ttal heavy metals using cld acid digestin and dithizne in the field and cpper results frm a lab. The areas with anmalus cpper values were field checked and minr disseminated chalcpyrite was fund t explain the sil results. N gld ptential recgnized at the time. A reprt in Dec.X65 (Avisn) cncluded further explratin was nt warranted.

11 - 9 - In April t Sept., 1970 Phelps Ddge drilled five hles n what was nw the nrth part f the Nault prperty. The prir wrk leading up t the drilling is nt knwn but recent gephysics by Mingld utlines VLF cnductrs in the area f the drill hles s presumably Phelps Ddge was drilling EM anmalies. The hles lcatin are shwn n Fig. 3. All five hles intersected quartz feldspar prphyry and intermediate vlcanics with minr metasediments. Carbnate alteratin, silicificatin and assciated shearing is mentined in all the hles accmpanied by blebs, streaks and disseminated chalcpyrite and pyrrhtite. N assaying is recrded in the drill lgs. The first indicatins f significant gld values n the prperty was in 1981 when the prperty was held by W. Hayne. Sampling f the riginal shwing in the rad cut revealed high sulphide grab results with up t Au/tn. A 2.5 ft chip sample acrss the main shwing gave 0.21 z Au/tn, 0.14 z Ag and Q.44% cu. Apparently there was interest in the prperty by at least 2 majr cmpanies but n deal was finalized. Except fr prspecting and manual labur by W. Hayne n further wrk was carried ut until Reginal Gelgy Gelgical wrk by Milne in 1963 (nt. Gv't Survey G. R. S25) cvered a large area just t the nrth f the prperty. Milne lcated the Garden Lake and Heaven Lake greenstne belts in a regin mainly underlain by Archean diritic-granite gneisses and Prterzic diabase. Bth the Garden Lake and Heaven Lake vlcanics trend nrtheasterly and are the lgical westward extensin f the Beardmre-Geraldtn greenstne terraine t the east f the Lake Nipign. The Nault prperty lies just t the suth f the Heaven Lake Belt. Sage (1974) with GS Prel. Map P.963, remapped much f Milne's area and Included the area cvering the Nault Prperty. He cncluded that the expsed vlcanic rcks in the area t be a flded remnant f the Heaven Lake greenstne belt. Sage utlined the east-west trending unit f felsic meta tuffs and agglmerates nrth f the claim grup. Suth f this

12 ^-, successin massive quartz feldspar prphyry ccurs in lit-par-lit fashin with massive and pillwed mafic metavlcanics expsed in the rad cuts thrugh the claim grup. Several expsures suggest that tw ages f quartz feldspar prphyry intrusins are present. utliers f Keeweenawan diabase lcally verlie the Archean rcks. T the east f the prperty this diabase masks mst f the earlier Precambrian units. 7. Prperty Gelgy (Figs 3. 4) nly minr gelgical mapping was carried ut by Mingld Resurces in This was cnfined t the western prtin f the prperty and the immediate area f the cpper-gld shwing. The general gelgical descriptin given belw is partially taken frm the Steep Rck prperty reprt by A. T. Avisn. Bedrck underlying the claim grup cnsists f Archean intermediate and acid vlcanics intruded by dikes and masses f granite and Keeweenawan diabase sills and dikes. Mafic Metavlcanics (Unit 1) The basic vlcanic rcks vary frm fine grained and pillwed t massive, medium grained flws f apprximately andesitic cmpsitin. In sme expsures the rck has a gabbric texture. Mst f the basic vlcanic rcks underlie an area running apprximately nrtheast acrss the centre f the prperty. Minr inclusins f the mafic units within the acid intrusive rcks are usually metamrphsed t chlrite-amphible schist. Felsic-Intermediate Metavlcanics (Unit 2) Several expsures f white weathering, fine grained, cream clred rhylite are reprted by Avisn in the nrthern part f the prperty between the east end f the diabase and the highway. ne expsure f finely laminated material may be either sheared rhylite r an acid tuff. The rhylite cntains scattered pale blue quartz "eyes" similar t thse ccurring in the intrusive quartz feldspar prphyry.

13 Felsic Prphyry (Unit 3) The quartz feldspar prphyry varies frm a fine grained felsite t a carse grained massive rck with feldspar phencrysts up t l inch in diameter and translucent pale blue quartz "eyes" 1/8 inch - 3/8 inch in diameter. The weathered surface is light salmn pink t pale cream in clur. The mafic vlcanics are intruded by dikes and stringers f prphyry varying frm fine t carse in grain size. Pyrite is disseminated in the prphyry in several expsures with ccasinally minr amunts f chalcpyrite. Acid Intrusives (Unit 4) Avisn lcated minr expsures f massive granite n the prperty. The granite is a medium t carse grained, pink t grey clred rck, cntaining Id-% ferrmagnesian minerals (bitite and hrnblende) 3(^ quartz and S-% plagiclase feldspar. It des nt cntain the quartz "eyes" cmmn in the prphyry. Diabase (Unit 5) The diabase is medium t carse grained rck typical f the Lake Nipign area. It ccurs as a sheet dipping gently t the west and cvers mst f the nrthern claims f the prperty. A small dike r remnant f diabase is expsed 500 feet west f the highway near the suth bundary f the grup. The main shwing at L50E/49N (Fig. 3, 4) is a nrtheast trending gssanus hrizn in a massive mafic metavlcanic sequence. N banding is apparent at the shwing. ' Well develped pillws ccur abut 30 metres t the nrth. Fine t medium grained quartz feldspar prphyry dikes with blue quartz-eyes cut the mafic sequence abut 80 metres nrth f the shwings and becme the dminant unit t the nrth. The cpper-gld values are cnfined t a sheared prtin f the vlcanics with disseminated chalcpyrite ver 0.2 metres. The shear trends at with a vertical dip. Grab samples have assayed up t 1.58 z Au/tn, 3.0 z Ag and 14.* Cu. Chip samples have yielded 0.21 z Au, 0.14 z Ag and Q.44% cpper ver 2.5 feet (0.76 m) and 0.55 z Au, 0.23 z Ag and Q.53% Cu ver 0.8 feet (0.24 m).

15 Apprximately metres t the nrth, n the same side f the highway, tw mre gssanus shears cut the vlcanics with the same nrtheast trend. Althugh pyrrhtite, pyrite and trace chalcpyrite are fund in these shears the assay values are cnsiderably lwer (up t 512 ppb Au, 1.3 ppm Ag and Q.12% Cu ver 1.0 ft). As well small rusty pits are fund in the west ditch f the rad and abut 100 metres east f the rad rughly alng trend f the main shwing. As shwn n Figure 4 sample results at these sites were anmalus but als lw Minqld Prgram Fllwing acquisitin f the prperty in July, 1988 linecutting, VLF-EM and magnetic surveys were carried ut n the claim grup. A ttal f 42 km f line was cut with a line spacing f 100 metres. The sectin lines are riented at 167 0, perpendicular t the nrtheast trend f the main shwing. Sectin lines are picketed at 25 metre intervals. The linecutting and gephysical surveys were carried ut by Nrthwest Gephysics in - ctber, Minr gelgical mapping and sil gechemistry was dne by Mingld late in the seasn but the wrk was hampered by snwfall. Results f this wrk are nt presented in this reprt. The gephysical surveys were carried ut with the mini Plus VLF/magnetmeter system manufactured by EDA instruments. The VLF readings were taken at 25 metre intervals and the magnetic data at 12.5 metre intervals. The surveyed metrage was 39 km. The VLF-EM transmitting statin used fr the survey was NLK Seattle, Washingtn bradcasting at 24.8 khz. The VLF data is a measurement f the secndary field frm a cnductive surce with respect t the transmitted primary field. The end result is in terms f a percentage f the measured field in cmparisn t the primary field. Bth inphase and quadrature cmpnents f the secndary field have been measured, with the results pltted in prfile frm n Fig. 5.

16 The magnetic ttal field readings are shwn n Fig. 6 with the cntured data n Fig. 7. The cntur interval f the data is 0 gammas with the base level (0) fr the survey being set at,000 gammas. A base statin was used fr diurnal crrectin. 9. Results (a) VLF-EM Survey The VLF-EM cnductrs interpreted frm the line prfiles n Fig. 5 cnfirm that the general trend f the bedrck structures is east nrtheasterly. Many f these cnductrs are intermittent but fr the purpse f this discussin they have been classified int 5 grups lettered "A" t "E" n the map. The fllwing interpretatins f the cnductrs is based n limited field checking and a cmparisn with prir wrk by Steep Rck Irn Mines and Phelps Ddge. bviusly further field wrk may refine r alter these evaluatins. Anmaly "A" in the nrthwest crner f the claim blck cincides with the suthern cntact f an east-west trending diabase sill well expsed in the area. Anmaly "B" is an intermittent cnductr extending east frm the nrth end f Nault Lake. Crss-vers ccurring alng a bush rad indicates a pssible cultural surce in these areas but n evidence was seen in the field. Further t the east the trend is ffset indicating pssible crss-faults. n the nrth side f claim TB the cnductr crsses Highway 527 and cntinues east. It is in this area that Phelps Ddge drilled 3 hles in 1975, presumably n this anmaly. Altered vlcanics and prphyritic units were intersected with traces f chalcpyrite. N gld assays are given in the drill lgs. Anmaly "C" is a sharp well defined VLF trend that n the Steep Rck gelgy map shws up at an intermediate vlcanic/quartz feldspar prphyry fault cntact with assciated pyrite and chalcpyrite mineralizatin.

17 Anmaly "D" is a 10 metre lng VLF cnductr which parallels the baseline. The main shwing is in the near vicinity f this anmaly. The Steep Rck gelgy map shws anther five ccurrences f minr chalcpyrite that are als lcated alng the cnductr bth east and west f the highway. Anmaly "E" is the suthern side f the claim grup. The nature f this cnductr is nt knwn. (b) Magnetic Survey The magnetic readings and a 0 gamma cntur map f the data are shwn n Figures 6 and 7. In the nrthwest prtin f the claim grup the elevated magnetic readings are bviusly due t the Prterzic diabase sill which is prminent in the area. The values range frm a lw f gammas t a high f 2557 gammas. Similarly the high magnetic readings n L46E n the suth side f the prperty are due t a nrth-suth trending diabase dike that utcrps alng this sectin line. Althugh nt checked in the field, the high mag readings n L58 and 59 are als the right rientatin fr a N-S diabase dike. As fr the remainder f the magnetic high and lw readings mst are "spt anmalies" due t ne reading. These may be very lcal cncentratins f magnetism in the bedrck r verburden. Alternatively they may be caused by thin narrw intrusive dikes r interflw banded irn frmatins in the vlcanic sequence. Phelps Ddge in their drilling n Lever Lake 6 km t the east, intersected a significant interval f sulphidized irn frmatin. The intervening area is largely masked by Prterzic diabase.

18 Recmmendatins The 1988 prgram f VLF-EM and magnetic surveys has utlined a number f target areas fr detailed evaluatin. In particular, VLF anmalies B, C and D cincide with ccurrences f cpper mineralizatin discvered during the base metal prgrams by Steep Rck Irn Mines and Phelps Ddge. The main shwing in the rad cut has shwn a crrelatin between gld values and cpper mineralizatin. Therefre, fllw-up wrk shuld be undertaken alng these trends fr the precius metal ptential. Fr 1989 it is prpsed that the gelgical mapping be cmpleted with detailed sampling and prspecting in areas f the cincident VLF Cnductrs and cpper shwings. A 1000 metre drill prgram (8 hles x 125 metres) is included as a secnd phase t test the gephysical and surface targets.
