3 615s?/ MAGNETOMETER SURVEY FUNDY BAY COPPER MINES LTD. BALDWIN AND NAIRN TOWNSHIPS PROVINCE OF ONTARIO REPORT NO, 5651 SUMMARY Tw pssible weak fault znes have been lcated. Prspecting f these znes is the nly fllw up wrk recmmended. INTRODUCTION The prperty was acquired due t the current interest in nickel and a magnetmeter survey cnducted t lcate any nickellferus pyrrhtite bdies that may be present. THEORY OF SURVEY Varying amunts f magnetite in different rcks near the earth 1 s surface prduce measureable differences in the earth's magnetic field. By measuring these differences the underlying rck structure can ften be inferred even thugh cvered with verburden. Occasinally the structure cntaining the sulphides can be determined frm the magnetmeter survey. The results can als be used as a guide t the presence f pyrrhtite and varying rck types. In this area the sulphides are usually magnetic due t their pyrrhtite cntent. The pyrrhtite is nearly always assciated with the re.
4 i ~ 2 - LOCATION AND ACCESS The prperty is easily accessible by rad frm the twn f Espanla, Ontari as a rad runs suth frm highway l? thrugh the prperty. This is illustrated in Figure 1. METHOD OF SURVEY. Picket lines were cut at 200 ft intervals being tur ned frm a twnship line in a directin perpendicular t the strike f any re bdies that are assumed t be present. Magnetmeter readings were taken at 100 ft intervals. One high magnetic anmaly was tested by an electrmagnetic test t determine if there was anything f p.d cnductivity ass ciated with the anmaly. GEOPHYSICAL INTERPRETATION The electrmagnetic tests were made n the magnetic anmaly but did nt indicate the presence f any cnductr. The high values cnstitute a wrng way crssver and appear t be prduced by tpgraphy rather than any cnductr. There is a slight alignment t a series f weak highs in tw places n the prperty. This culd be a cincidence althugh nt likely. These linears may represent tw weak fault znes. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS There are tw lines f weak highs which culd be caused by faulting. The indicatins are nt strng enugh
