M/s. NSC Consortium, Road Metal Mine Cluster details a. Cluster classification and location details: As per the cluster definition the present cluster of mines comes under the examination purview of SEAC (State Expert Appraisal Committee) Government of Andhra Pradesh. This is because of the proposed mine is major mineral (Road Metal Mine) One Mine in the cluster are having total area Ha. Total areas is more than 5 hectares. The total lease area under cluster of Mines is around hectares which is less than <25 Ha. Thus the condition of cluster needs only preparation of EMP. This cluster condition does not need EIA study or public hearing. Accordingly the present EMP is prepared. The cluster details are given below. A brief of important details of geology are given below Topography The quarry lease area is located on a hill raised at lease area is 82M above ground level within the quarry lease area with topo relief of 60M. The lowest contour is 240 M and highest contour is 300 M in topo plan. General ground Level is at 230 m Regional Geology The area constitutes southernmost part of Eastren Ghats Mobile Belt (EGMB), where the belt is tapering to less then 20 km width EGMB is trending in NNE SSW in the area. In this area EGMB mainly represented by Western zone. The succession of western Ghat Super Group is as follows Intrusives Charnockite Group KhondaliteGroup Granitoid Suite Layered Anorthosites and associated Mafics and Chromiferrous Ultra Mafics. The geology is generally very Page No. 9

M/s. NSC Consortium, Road Metal Mine stable as it is part of the ancient South Indian Peninsular Shield, which consists of two main rock types: quartzites and shale Normal rock properties of Srisailam quartzites Density 2.53 to 2.80 g/cm 3 Compressive Strength 850 to 2,650 kg/cm 2 (83 to 260 MPa) ground consists of quartzites and thin inter bedded layers of shale. From The expected proportion of quartzites depends on the orientation of the shales to quartzite transition currently projected from geological mapping carried out on the surface. The quartzites, over 60% of the lease area, are metamorphic and have very high quartz content. Their significant abrasiveness and high strength give the most concern for cutter wear and costs. The expected physical properties of the rocks are given above. Results from tests carried out on the quartzites and from information at the Srisailam power station have shown that compressive strengths of the quartzite can go As high as 4,588 kg/cm 2 (450 MPa). The quartzite section also can be very blocky in nature and includes thin and weak inter bedded shales. The layering of quartzite and shales will tend to cause over break in the crown and shoulder of the lease area are generally expected to be consistent in nature and are less cause for concern. 3.0 Production Details The year wise production details of the cluster are taken as approximation for the mines and are summarized in the following Table 3.0 Table. 3.0 Production Details Year M/s NSC Sri Hussain reddy Total CuM I Year II Year III Year IV Year V Year Total Page No. 10

Hussain Reddy M/s. NSC Consortium, Road Metal Mine Total trucks plying in one hour during peak production Mining and Methods The primary method of mining is same for both the mines in the cluster. For this reason the pattern of damage due to the mining operations is same for both the mines. Table 4.0 Total Machinery Requirement for cluster of mines S. 15 M/s. NSC Consortium, Road Metal Mine There is primarily no waste generated during production of road metal. The other wastes are managed within the mines which are described in the respective mining plans. 7.0 Use of Mineral: Use of mineral is same for both the mines. 8.0 Anticipated cumulative Impacts & Mitigation Measures due to cluster The individual mines have their specific impacts within the respective lease boundaries. However the impact on environment due to cluster situation is felt mainly due to the traffic and thereby on the dust and noise. There will not be any alteration in water pollution due to cluster situation. Air Pollution due to cluster and its Mitigation As explained above the total number of trucks plying during any given hour during the peak production levels is 7. These trucks will be plying on a common road of length 200 meters. This zone is envisaged to have highest pollution due to dust. The mitigation measures proposed are as under. Water sprinkling on the roads outside the lease area and also on the common road used by the cluster of trucks. To schedule the transportation timings for the mines by mutual discussions such that more numbers of trucks will not ply at a given time. To reduce the speed of trucks Noise pollution due to cluster and its mitigation Sources and mitigation of Noise: In the cluster situation the only source of noise is due to movement of trucks. This noise can be controlled only by reducing the speed of the trucks and also by scheduling of transportation timings of the mines with mutual understanding. Water Quality Due to the cluster situation there may not be any additional affect on the water regime of the area. Water Requirement- Basis of calculation: For the cluster situation the water requirement is calculated only for the water sprinkling and plantation purposes. The water consumption is taken as 5 liters for one meter of road length, for one trip. The estimate is based on the calculation that 1 M 2 needs 1 liter of water in mist sprinkling. The road width is taken as 5 meters for which 5 liters of water is taken. Page No. 12

M/s. NSC Consortium, Road Metal Mine Thus the total road length is around 200 meters. This patch along with the patches used exclusively by the mines (Outside the lease area) comes to 600 meters approximately. The common patch is taken only to the 500 meters boundary of the cluster. The water requirement is 3000 liters per trip. Envisaging that 5 trips will be sprinkled per day, the total water requirement is 15 KLD. Additional 2KLD will be needed for plantation growth. Thus the total demand of the cluster is 17 KLD. Solid Waste- Land reclamation etc: The cluster situation will not create any additional solid waste or land damage needing any reclamation. Occupational Safety and Health The steps that are proposed in the respective EMPs will suffice for taking care of health of workers, even in cluster situation. This also consists of issuing PPE (Personal Protective Equipments) to all the persons working, and those that are needed for the site specific operations. The following PPE are proposed to be distributed. Plantation Program: The individual quarries had submitted/ Will submit their plantation program details in their respective EMPs. The present proposal is for cluster as a whole. The common road length will be utilized for plantation of local species. It is proposed to plant around 200 plants all along the sides of the road wherever the surface permits. These will be maintained by a person appointed for watering and regular maintenance. Socio-economic Environment Due to cluster situation no additional changes will take place. Only one additional person will be needed for maintenance of the plantation. Disaster Planning The cluster situation will not create any additional chances for disaster to take place. Thus the disaster planning is not needed. Environmental budget for the cluster: The common works that are to be done due to cluster situation are as follows. a. To sprinkle water on the roads (Common) b. To appoint a person for taking care of plantation on common roads c. To purchase and maintain the plants and also recoup the dead plants d. Pot hole filling on the common roads. Page No. 13

M/s. NSC Consortium, Road Metal Mine Proposed Environmental Budget for Cluster Item Road 1 Ltr/ Sq. m Ltrs Rs. 4 tankers per day for 200 days Cost per year in Rs. Remarks During rainy seasons sprinkling not needed Plantation on road side Re-plant the nonsurviving plants, Greenbelt maintenance Person s salary for maintenance of greenery (1 person) watering and protection from animals A salary of Rs10000/- per month Page No. 14
