4 2.2 Brief Information about the Project The mining lease area of ha is located in Government land, near Girimapur Village, Medchal Mandal, Ranga Reddy district, Telangana. It has been proposed to produce approximately 9,00,000 TPA of Stone & Metal. Mining: The mining operations are proposed to be carried out by opencast semi-mechanized method. Stone & Metal is exposed on the surface. 2.3 Need for the Project and Its Importance to the Country or Region In the context of depleting natural sand resources in many parts of the world due to sterilisation of reserves and environmental concerns, concrete producers, construction engineers, builders and suppliers of sand are of the firm view that crushed stone sand is a substitute to natural river sand. 2.4 Demands-Supply Gap The use of the crushed stone sand although not new was at one time negligible as the natural river sand was abundantly available. But now the situation has changed. The quantum of fine aggregate available is same but the requirement of natural sand increased several hundreds of times since The government and the construction industry feels that to meet the ever increasing demand for the fine aggregate there is no other alternative except going for crushed stone sand. Crushed stone, one of the most accessible natural resources, is a major basic raw material used for construction. For centuries crushed stone coarse aggregates were being used for the production of various types of concrete in construction.
