6 3.0 MINING ACTIVITY DETAILS OF THE AREA: State & Dist Mandal Village Extent in ha. Sy. No. Ownership of occupancy Telangana Sangareddy Raikode Kudavanandapur Ha. (27.68 Acres) 22 Govt. land Physiography & Topography: The proposed QL area is part of pediment. The highest elevation is 541m on the SE portion while the lowest is 532m in the north central and north western portion of the proposed QL. Slope is due north. Granite is occurring right from the surface with scattered boulders on top with negligible soil cover. The proposed QL area is over pediment with a maximum topographic relief of 541 m MSL on the east and 532 m MSL on the northwest portion. There is a relief of 9 m over a strike length of 540 m and the slope is towards north of the proposed QL area. Regional Geology: Regional Geology of the proposed QL area environs exposes Peninsular gneiss comprising pink & grey granite and granite gneiss. Pink Granite is younger than Grey Granite. Xenoliths of pink granite were observed at few outcrops within coarse grained grey granite of Archaean Age. Grey granite is also occurs as inliers in the region. The pink and grey granite bodies have not been shown separately since the contacts are gradational at most of the places. Intra trappean sediments occur at the contact of trap and peninsular gneissic complex over the southern part of the district. The stratigraphic succession with which the granites are associated is presented below. Rock Type Formation Age Basalt with intra trppean with no 1, no2 etc., and flow units (a)(b) etc., where mapped Deccan Traps Upper cretaceous to Eocene Intra Trappean Pink and Gray Granites and Cretaceous Archaean 6
7 Granite Gneiss PGC Geology of the area: The subject area comprises two litho units of Grey & Pink Granite of Archaean Age. Granite is exposed as sheet rock right from the surface with scattered boulders. The possible depth of Granite is assessed to be more than 60.0 m as reported in the wells inventoried near the proposed QL area. The mineral is intended to be supplied to the proposed Crusher to be established in near future and also to the other crushing industries for infrastructure needs. Estimation of Geological reserves: Method of estimation of reserves: As the mineralization is uniform over the proposed QL Area cross sectional method adopted for Estimation of Geological Reserves. 9 d) Life of mine About 2,64,437 tons of Road Metal & Building Stone per anum production is planned during the first five year plan period. Life of the Mine = 69,94,557 / 2,64,437 = Years or say 26 years Economic marketable 69,94,557 Tons reserves Mining: Method of Mining: Proposed Quarrying is by opencast A category other than fully mechanized mining method. Quarrying will be carried out by formation of benches of 3.0 m, 2.0m, 1m and 1.5m height with width 1.5 times the height. Granite will be disintegrated with drilling and blasting by compressor. Drilling and Blasting: Drilling Parameters: i. Drill holes diameter: 32 mm and 1.5 m depth. ii. Burden and Spacing: 0.6 m X 0.8 m. iii. Rock broken / Hole: 0.6m X 0.8m X 1.5m = 0.72 m³. iv. Yearly proposed for rock excavation: 1,32,852 m³ v. Therefore, No. of holes proposed for year: 1,32,852/0.72 = 1,84,517 holes vi. Therefore No. of holes proposed for day: 1, 84,517/300 = 615 holes per day. Twenty holes shall be blasted in a round. vii. Stemming and charging of the blast hole: The blast hole will be charged with 125 grams of slurry explosives and filled with stemming meterial by using brass stemming rod Explosive Requirement: 625 Holes X 125 Gms = 78,125 Gms 78.1 Kgs per day. viii. Explosive type: 1) Slurry Explosive 2) detonating fuse 3) Cord relay and 4) Electrical or ordinary detonator. ix. The blasting time will be once in a day at lunch time i.e. Between 1 PM to 2 PM. The drilling will be carried out by Atlas Copco Compressor with jack hammer combination. The hole diameter will be 32 mm and the depth will be 1.5 m. The blasting material will be slurry explosive sticks with detonating fuse. Decord delays will be used as per drilling parameters. The blast holes will be covered with sand bags or rubber mats to minimize the sound, fly rock and 9
10 dust rising. After blasting the rock it will be loaded by excavators on to the Tippers and hauled to the crushing plant for further processing. Production proposed for five years: The development and production for the first five years has been planned taking into consideration the nature of the deposit within the proposed QL area.
