SITE SERVICES Rest Rooms, First Aid Room, Shelters, Lavatory, Bore Well for drinking water have been provided at Quarry Site GEOLOGY OF THE AREA Regional Geology: In and around Srikakulam and Parlakimundi Blue and Brownish granite is extensively quarried. It is a part of Eastern Ghat group of rocks consisting of Chornokites. Khondalite and Granitoids a variety of hybrid rock formed by the interaction of Intrusive granite into the Khondalite. The Eastern ghat group attains a maximum thickness in the Ganjam -Cuttack tract. It occurs as ridges trending NE- SW. The eastern ghat belt exhibits high grade metamorphism as evidenced by the presence of Garnet and Silliminite. The Chornokite shows intrusive relation towards Khondalite and has itself under gone post migmatic changes. Felspathic bands are common and are due to Granitisation. Geology of the Area The terrain in and around the area is of undulating in nature. The major portion of the area is occupied by big boulders and sheet of Charnockite gneiss which consists of Quartz, Grey feldspar, Sillemanite and other Ferro Magnesium minerals like 4 P a g e

Hypersthene, Hornblende, Biotite and Garnet. The felsic and mafic bands alternate with i each other to which imparts a very good texture to the rock. The overall background of the rock is bluish. Two set of joints are observed, one is parallel and the other perpendicular to strike direction. They are widely spaced and are useful in splitting big blocks from the mother rock. The rock at places is intruded by quartz vein and feldspar band. The weathering extends to a depth varying from few inches to a foot in some areas. A megascopic and polished sample indicates that the rock takes good polish and exhibits fine texture. 5 P a g e

3.0 MINING ACTIVITY INTRODUCTION Quarry lease area being operating over an extent of Hectares is located at Sy. No. 1 of Addukonda Village, Tekkali Mandal, Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh. LOCATION AND ACCESSIBILITY: a) Details of the Area: District Ownership of Village Mandal Sy. No s. Extent State Occupancy Srikakulam Addukonda Tekkali Ha Govt. Land The area is located in Survey of India Topo Sheet No. 74 B/2 b) Infrastructure: The Q.L area is located at a distance of about 5 Kms NW of Tekkali town. It is located on Tekkali - Bheempuram village passing through villages like Borigipeta, Ramakrishnapuram, and a diversion towards west from the road crossing from Seethapuram to Bheempuram leads to the quarry. The quarry is approachable by a good road up to the quarry RESERVES The reserves are estimated by cross sectional method. It consists of multiplying the sectional area by the zone of influence which is the distance between the two cross sections. Based on the information obtained from the mapping the area 'proved' category reserves may be estimated from the top of the hill to a depth of 10 m. From the base of the proved zone, a 5 m depth is considered for the estimation of the reserves under the 'probable' category and from the base of the probable zone, a 5 m depth is considered for the estimation of the reserves under the 'possible' category. Total Mineable Reserves Mineable are calculated taking the Proved reserves category only into consideration which is 23, 17,000 cu m. The reserves blocked in the mine safety benches, and blocked in 7.5 m buffer zone and quantity depleted are deducted from the proved reserves. Recovery is considered as 20 %. The mine able reserves thus arrived are presented below 6 P a g e

S.No Description Quantity in cum. 1 In situ reserves under proved category 23,17,000 2 Reserves blocked in the 7.5 m buffer zone 1,62,660 3 Blocked in mine benches 1,15,850 4 Depleted so far 15,874 5 Total reserves blocked (2+3+4) 2,94,384 6 Balance Reserves (1-5) = 20,22, % 4,04,523 Considering the recoverable mineable reserves as 4,04,52,3 cum and an average production level of 2,400 cu m per annum, and the life of the mine is years or say 169 years. The life of the mine is likely to change once the quarry is opened up fully and the recovery parentage is arrived at correctly. MINING Method of Mining (Semi Mechanized) The Colour Granite in the applied is proposed to be mined by open cast, semi-mechanized method. The granite deposit in this area is surface covered with weathered boulders and fresh boulders. The separation of blocks from the mother rock will be carried out by drilling, blasting, excavation. The secondary splitting, dressing of blocks will be done manually. Therefore, mining operations to be carried out in this area in 2 stages. 1) Development 2) Production Stage-1 The removal of weathered and under sized boulders will be cleared in the applied area for the next five years by using Excavator. The sheet that is exposed will be subjected to drilling, blasting and splitting from mother rock. Rock Splitting / Wedging: Thus 20' x 20' to 40 x 20 to 40' mass will be separated from mother rock. Then horizontal holes will be drilled at the bottom of the bench, by wedging or blasting with water cartridges and cardex fuse, bottom separation will be achieved. Splitting the Mass: For splitting the mass from mother rock the line drilling and wedging method is in use; with Jack Hammers and this waste will be dumped at dumping yard using Tipper. 7 P a g e

Stage-2 After removal of weathered and under sized boulders. The large boulders will be subjected to splitting into required sizes of blocks by using Jack Hammers by drilling series of deep holes at right angles at regular intervals, later by inserting feather and wedges in these holes and hammering with sledge hammer will release the blocks. The burner cutters will be deployed for shaping the boulders. The boulders will be splited to the required sizes with drilling and if required by using chemical compound at the source only. The boulders separated will be brought to the dressing yard for dressing. If the boulders, which fit into the required market grade size will be transformed into cuboids. Secondary Splitting: After separation from the mother rock, it is properly checked by washing with water to identify defects and cracks. Based on this observation, the size is decided and the blocks are marked and separated by drilling and wedging. The separated pieces will be examined for defects and lines, then the block or blocks are marked in clear area and holes are drilled along the line of marking, with the help of feathers and wedges the waste portions are separated forming a rectangular blocks. Any bulges will be removed by drilling and wedging making it perfect blocks. A perfect block is that all the sides shall make with each other 90. Dressing: After primary separation the rock mass will be carefully examined to avoid hairline cracks, mineral segregation's and veins etc. The dressing of the rough blocks will be made by chipping the edges and geometrically equating the edges of the block at the dressing yard. The rough blocks obtained after primary cut it will be dressed for obtaining good geometric shape of coloured granite. Dressing of dimensional rough blocks for export: Dressing is the final phase of mining operation, wherein the secondary rough blocks are squared into regular perfect rectangular sizes, thereby avoiding uneven bulge or cavities and other defects. Jackhammers with compressor, feather end wedges and sledgehammers are the equipment generally used for dressing the block. 8 P a g e

Drilling Drill hole pattern will be uniform single lined pattern, equidistance holes from 0.33 m to 0.75 m, 4.5 m in depth. Drilling Parameter Drill hole diameter- 34 mm Spacing depends upon the size of the boulder, in general it 15 cms from hole to hole for better splitting. Production Schedule The production of colour granite will be continuous throughout the year expect during monsoon. That is 10 working months, 20 working days per month are considered. The production of 2,400 m 3 per year can be easily achieved in a single shift with sufficient men and machinery. Year Volume in cum Recoverable blocks Wastage 80% in cum (20%) cum , , , , , Handling the Blocks Within The Quarry Since the size of the boulder is big therefore it has to handled by a crane. The blocks will be dressed at the pit mouth and after checking the quality will be transported to the stock yard. The waste will loaded into the tippers and transported to the dump yard. The size of the block produced from the quarry may vary cm in length, cms in width and cms in height. Hence a crane and 4 excavators are sufficient to handle the blocks within the quarry. Magazine Type and Capacity Since there is no overburden and the boulders are exposed near the surface, the boulders can be easily dislodged and hence the requirement of explosive will be very less or negligible. However rock breaking powder will be used to split the boulders. The company has installed a portable magazine after taking necessary permission from the concerned authority. 9 P a g e

Description of Processing Plant The applicant intends to export dressed raw blocks and sell them to local processing units. The applicant does not possess a processing plant at the moment. Transportation of Blocks From Quarry To Yard And Destination Dressing of the blocks will be done at the pit mouth and are transported to stock yard by tippers. The dressed blocks will be transported to the various destinations by hired trucks. Man power The quarry operation will provide employment to the following: 1) Mines Manager 1 2) Compressor Operator 4 3) Drillers 20 4) Excavator operator 2 5) Excavator Helper 2 6) Tipper Drivers 4 7) Cutters 10 8) Helpers 3 9) Watch man 2 10) Water Carriers 2 11) Accountant 1 12) Store Keeper 1 13) Supervisors 2 10 P a g e

Site Services The rest shelter cum office, First aid room and toilets are constructed in the flat portion of the area. The roof is of asbestos sheets covered to keep it cool in Summer. A first aid certificate holder will be in charge of the first aid room. Protected drinking water will be provided and stored in earthen pots. 11 P a g e

4.0. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN AIR ENVIRONMENT The major pollutant emitted from quarrying activity is dust and major sources of dust are due to Quarrying and vehicular movement. The following measures will be adopted in quarrying to eliminate the fugitive dust emission. PROPOSED MITIGATION MEASURES Wet drilling. Water sprinkling on Quarry haul roads & approach road for dust suppression. Planting of trees along Quarry haul roads. Covering loaded trucks with tarpaulin while transporting Granite Regular grading and compaction of haul roads. Proper housekeeping at the Quarrying, loading and dispatch areas will be practiced. The dust rising due to drilling will be controlled by covering the drill rods with cloth, dust extractors will also be employed. WATER ENVIRONMENT WATER REQUIREMENT The Granite Quarrying activity requires 21 KLD of water. This includes water for Drilling, identification of defects/cracks in granite blocks, Dust suppression and domestic purpose. Water required will be sourced from bore well. The depth of Bench Height will be 6 m. There will not be intersection of ground water table as the quarrying operations will be taken on hillock. S. No. Item Water Requirement in KLD 1. For Dust Suppression with in the QL roads For Dust Suppression along the approach Road For Drilling and identification of cracks For Domestic Use For plantation with in buffer area For plantation along the approach Road 1.2 Total P a g e

WASTE WATER The wastewater generated during identification of defects/cracks in granite blocks will be recycled back. The only source of waste water generation is sanitary waste water (1.2 KLD), which will be sent to septic tank followed by sub-surface dispersion. No further processing of Colour Granite is envisaged. It will be directly sold to outside parties. IMPACT DUE TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC Maximum an average of 1 trucks per day will be required to transport granite to outside agencies. NH-5 is at a distance of 3 Kms. from QL area. The existing road is capable of absorbing this additional traffic. Dust suppression will be taken up along the haulage roads & approach roads. Hence there will not be much impact on air environment due to transportation of granite. NOISE ENVIRONMENT The haulage and the drilling of boreholes generate Noise. In the Quarry lease area silent blasting will be done by using AGFRACT Chemical Compound. However, the probable noise level will be within the permissible limits and will not cause harm. The following will be noise control measure: The machinery will be maintained properly to reduce the noise. The protective noise reducing gear like earmuffs, the company will provide earplugs. Proper maintenance of equipment. The Granite will be transported by road through vehicles. All the vehicles to be used for transport will comply with MOEF norms for vehicles on noise levels (as per the rules of Motor vehicles act). Plantation will be taken-up as per norms. Acoustic enclosure will be provided to DG set. Hence there will not be any adverse impact on environment due to the Quarrying activity. LAND ENVIRONMENT ANTICIPATED IMPACTS Due to this small scale mining activity the land degradation will be very less. It is estimated that about Ha of land will be used for quarrying purpose. 13 P a g e

The top soil generated, if any, will be stored separately and will be used for plantation purpose. During quarrying whatever solid waste is generated will be dumped at dumping site. SOLID WASTE During the five years period the total quantity of waste likely to be generated is 41,760 cu m. It consists of granite blocks of various sizes, shapes and dimension. Soil component will be minimal but will be stacked separately from the mine waste. It is estimated that about 1, 67,040 cum of waste will be generated during the lease period. Some of the material from the waste may be sorted out and used for making small blocks known as' khandas' to be used by local units for making tiles. The market for tiles is good at the moment and they will offer a better substitute for marble in terms of price and quality. Some rejected and unsorted material may be used in the civil engineering projects in the vicinity of the area. The waste material can also be crushed into smaller sizes and can be used as road metal. The waste generated during the five years will be dumped in the zone separately reserved for dumping in the area. The dumps will be designed in such that it will have slopes equal to the angle of repose of such material. Drains have been provided and the dump terraced. Garland drains will be provided around the dump. During mining in next 5 years a total of 41,760 M 3 of waste will be generated and dumped at the dumping yard, on an average of 8352 M 3 per annum.
