2.0 GEOLOGY, EXPLORATION AND RESERVES 2.1 Geology The mine area for which the pre feasibility report has been prepared is a existing mine area and existence of low grade limestone (minor mineral) has been proved. There are few quarries in the surroundings which gives clear indication of the types of formation and local geology of the area. The local topography of the mine area is flat. The limestone (minor mineral) deposit and associated formation which is occurring at Nakti village is forming part of extremity of Chhattisgarh synclinorium and belongs to upper sub division of the raipur series. The Limestone deposit is almost horizontally bedded with local dips from 2-3 degrees towards SW. Strike direction of the limestone is NW-SE in the area as observed in quarries. The limestone of this area is of Lower Vindhyan age occurring as fairly flat terrain. The limestone is usually chocolate brown in colour but at places it is grey and is of low grade than the chocolate brown variety. Limestone is found to vary in composition laterally as well as vertically. This variation is due to the irregular occurrence of intercalated bands of calcareous shale, argillaceous limestone, etc. throughout the formation. The occurrence of high magnesium shales as intercalations within the limestone is highly irregular. These shales are usually purple in colour and can be easily distinguished from the limestone by their typical shaly and rough appearance. The quality variation is so extensive that even in any 10 m length of cores, all the different types ranging from high-grade limestone to low calcium-bearing shales can be discerned. This wide variation in the composition appears to be a depositional feature. 2.2 Stratigraphical Succession The Raipur series of rocks occupying the central and western parts of chhattisgarh synclinorium consists of non fossiliferrous sediments in the form of trough with a thickness about 675m over Chandrapur sandstone with slight but distinct unconformity. The series mainly composed of purple shales, calcareous/silicious sandy limestone. The limestone formations are massive and thick bedded and occasionally grades in to shally or cherty variety. 4

Stratigraphical Succession System Series Stage Lithology Raipur Alluvium Discontinuos bands of chert Upper shales Raipur Limestone Dolomitic shales Cuddapah Group Limestone Calcareous shale. Khairagarh Sand stone Gunderdehi Shales Charmuria Limestone UNCONFORMITY Archaean s 2.3 Details of Exploration Already carried out in the area: It is already been mentioned that in the granted lease area; the area is having a flat topography. There is 1 pit have been dig along the longitudinal section of the mine area. The method of mining operation will be in small scale. The operation is sufficient for mining operation for next 10 years and depth extension can be carried out simulataneously during the course of mining operation which will gives increased geological reserve and life of the mine. 3.0 MINING 3.1 Mining Method The method of mining will be open cast (manual). Open cast mining is a surface exploration method. In the lease area the ore body is covered by lateritic soil. In the first five year mining will be carried out in northern part of the lease area. The average thickness of top soil is to be considered about 0.7m which will be removed systematically prior to actual mining of low grade limestone. 5

Drilling and blasting of low grade limestone have been carried out by using jack hammer. Blasting will be carried out with the help of special gelatin and safety fuse. 3.2 Production Year wise production details: Year July Dec 2003 Jan 2004-Dec 2004 Jan 2005-Dec 2005 Jan 2006-Dec 2006 Jan 2007-Dec 2007 Jan 2008-Dec 2008 Jan 2009-Dec 2009 Jan 2010-Dec 2010 Jan 2011-Dec 2011 Production 750MT 620MT 1035MT 1720MT 2478 MT 2144MT 4306MT 1053MT 3783MT 3.3 Conceptual Mining Plan a) After completion of the life of the mine the sufficient material for the reclamation of the pits is not available. At the end of the life of the mine; the overburden soil will be generated. Therefore abandoned pit after mining will be use for water accumulation for the purpose of irrigation, fishery etc. b) Final slope of the benches will not be more than 45 degrees. c) Soil dump will stack surrounding the lease boundary of lease area and the height of the dump will be 1.5 m and it I used as a plantation purpose in the surroundings of the mine area. Open cast working: The working has been carry out in north part of the area. The height and width of the bench will be 3.0 m and it will uniformly be maintained up to lease year. The ore after blasting will be made in to pieces of mm if necessary and hauled to surface by head load and loaded in the dumper. There is no waste as the entire mass is low grade limestone, which is a desired building material. Loading and unloading will be done manually. All the operation will be carried out manually after blasting in the ore. All excavation will be excecuted manually using simple instrument like jack hammer, crowbars, spades, chisels and hammers. 6

3.3 Utilization of Low grade Limestone Low grade Limestone is useful in building materials in the surrounding areas for the improvement in social & regional development. 3.5 Stacking of Mineral Rejects & disposal of waste: Nature of waste: The entire area is covered by soil cover with an average thickness of about 0.7m below the soil cover limestone (low grade) is exposed in the south of the lease area. The entire limestone (low grade) is used as a building material and no waste has been generated. The soil will be used for the plantation purpose. Stacking of sub grade mineral: There is no economic sub grade mineral is found. No sub grade mineral will be produced. The limestone (low grade) is saleable. 3.6 Mining Machinery The mine is manual operated and the details of the machinery is given below: Table 3.3: Mining Machinery Sr. No. Type Nos. Make Motive Power Capacity 1 Jack Hammer 1 Hawwa Comp. air 1.5m depth 2 Compressor 1 Khosla Diesel 110CFM 85 HP 3 Tipper 1 Tata Diesel 10 tonns 85 HP 4.0 BLASTING Although lease area is away from any population, all the precautions will be taken to minimize nuisance caused by blasting. All necessary safety precautions will be taken in accordance with the Explosives Act. 7

4.1 Broad Blasting Parameters Blasting will be carried out in an accurate and systematic manner, taking into account all necessary safety precautions. The broad blasting parameters will be used and blasting will not be done in unfavoured weather. 4.2 Type of Explosives used The following explosives are used SPECIAL GELATIN ORDINARY DETONATOR SAFETY FUSE 4.3 Noise The following steps are taken to minimize pollution by noise. (a) Blasting will be well designed and will be carried out periodically. (b) Blasting will be planned to minimize boulders. (c) Secondary drilling and blasting is avoided. 5.0 MINE DRAINAGE Likely depth of water table based on observations from near by wells and water bodies: The water table is 20m below the general ground level. The general ground level is 280m MSL. No pumping will be required; unless working will reach below 20m or 260MSL of normal ground. There will be no water in pit up to 20 m. the mine area is drained in the south west side of the area. Working is expected to be above the water table by the end of lease period. Quantity and quality of water will likely to be encountered the pumping arrangement and places where the accumulated rain water in open pit is finally proposed to be discharged. In course of heavy rains and future seepage of water, it is expected that the lesse has to provide diesel pump. The pumped out water will flow through frains and finally confluence in to out of the area in NW direction for rain water harvesting purpose. 8

6.0 SITE SERVICES Statutory Requirement: The following site services will be provided at the mine: (a) Managers office (b) Rest Shelters (c) Drinking Water (d) Urinals and Latrines (e) First aid room Administrative Requirement: a) Managers office 9
