Lenticular bedding common. Varved beds typically 15-2 mm thick. Graded bedding in varved siltstones indicates stratigraphic tops are "up-hole", i.e. tops face east. Rocks exhibit moderate magnetic attraction throughout section Intraformational breccia. Dark siltstone laminae show angular brecciation, fragments set in pale yellow - green fine - grained wacke laminae Bedding at 8 degrees to core axis Fracture zone: chloritic slips at O, 1, 8 degrees to core axis, minor earthy red hematite and epidote - quartz - feldspar veinlet 2 mm thick Fault zone: intermittently broken core with numerous chloritic slips at 4, 5, 6, 8 degrees to core axis, epidote and earthy red hematite in fault gouge Bedding at 8 degrees to core axis. Carries c.5% disseminated fine - grained pyrite and chalcopyrite in approximately equal amounts. Some small clusters of sulphide grains appear to parallel bedding Fracture zone: core considerably broken on chloritic slips at O, 2, 3, 5, 7 degrees to core axis. Some hematite stain on slips together with minor carbonate and epidote Quartz veinlet 2 mm thick at 5 degrees to core axis, cuts bedding at c.9 degrees. Quartz stained red. Minor epidote on vein wall Bedding at 5-6 degrees to core axis. Sparse chloritic slips at 3, 4, 5, 7 degrees to core axis Bedding at 6 degrees to core axis Weak fracture zone: a few rectangular fractures filled by films of epidote and hematite. One grain of chalcopyrite 2 mm across at edge of epidote-filled fracture.

A few epidote - hematite filled fractures Lens of massive epidote in 1/2 core, ranges up to 1 mm thick, rimmed in part by thin zone of brick-red siliceous material (very fine-grained quartz?). Lens at 5 degrees to core axis. Sparse chloritic slips, most commonly at 4 and 7 degrees to core axis. End 25. Bedding at 6 degrees to core axis. Sparse chloritic slips at O, 1, 3, 6 degrees to core axis A few thin quartz - feldspar - chlorite veinlets 2 mm thick at 3-5 degrees to core axis, comprise ^l'/^ of section Quartz - feldspar - chlorite veinlet 2 mm thick on chloritic slip at 1 degrees to core axis.

Bedding at 7 degrees to core axis Subround pink to brick-red granite pebble carries trace fine - grained disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite. c Fracture zone: numerous chloritic slips at O, 1, 4, 8, 9 degrees to core axis Bedding at 8 degrees to core axis. Sparse chloritic slips to 217' at 2, 4, 6, 8 degrees to core axis Trace fine - grained disseminated chalcopyrite in sandy bed. 2.2 Elongated pink granite pebble. Underlying beds depressed. Thin lens of chalcopyrite in upper grayish part of pebble. Chalcopyrite lens is l mm thick x 5 mm long, is parallel to nearby bedding. Minor fine - grained epidote in granite pebble. Thin beds immediately below pebble and me up to 1 mm above top of pebble are bright green due to epidote content Fracture zone: numerous chloritic slips at 1, 3, 5, 6 8 degrees to core axis.

Property: Rathbun Lake Hole No. RBL 3-4 Page 4 From - To (feet) Description Weak fracture zone: chloritic slips at O, 3, 8 degrees to core axis Sparse epidote - filled fractures at 3 degrees to core axis, are 2-4 mm thick and carry small wallrock fragments, comprise <<l% of section Quartz - feldspar veinlet 3-5 mm thick at 9 degrees to core axis, epidote zones 1-2 mm thick on walls Pink quartz - feldspar veinlet 5-1 mm thick at 6 degrees to core axis Crackle breccia zone confined to one side of chloritic slip at 1-2 degrees to core axis. Small patches of pink quartz - feldspar fill irregular angular fractures in wacke and cut small lenses of epidote. Epidote lenses are 2-3 mm x 8-1 mm. Fracturing fades out into minor parallel fractures at 4, 5 degrees to core axis Bedding at 8 degrees to core axis. Epidote lens 5x15 mm, a few smaller ones appear to replace sandy layer. Epidotized beds comprise ^IVo of section 212' - 23'. Sparse chloritic slips at 3, 5, 6 degrees to core axis.
