2 Location: NW 1/4, Nl/2 Lot 11, Con. I, Van Horne Twp. Kenora Mining Division Claim: Access: From Dryden south on Hwy. 502 to Pritchard Lake road. From there an old trail leads east for 2 km to the south-west corner of claim. History: The general area east of Pritchard Lake was explored in the early 1900's. In the 1980's, Power Exploration outlined 100,000 tons of.20 oz./ton Au on the adjacent patented lot to the east. Geology: The Wabigoon Volcanics cover the area south of Dryden. The historic "Dryden Gold Fields" are located largely in the first concession of this Twp. and cover an area 9 km long and 2 km wide. Within this belt are located more than 12 shafts, some of them dating back to the beginning of the last century (1900). Work in 2004: In October and November, three days were spent prospecting the claim in hope of finding new mineralization away from the known mineralized zone. Four samples were collected from pyritized pillow lava in the north part of the claim. The samples gave negative results. Two samples collected from pits within the main mineralized zone in breccia assayed 6.9 grams and 13.9 grams. This result was not surprising as most quartz veins in this zone are auriferous and the sampling served as confirmation of earlier sampling results. Conclusions and Recommendations It seems that only the Lapilli tuff and associated breccias carry gold bearing quartz veins. Systematic stripping and sampling is planned for 2005 to outline consistent gold mineralization within or along this strongly sheared zone.
