1 ASSESSMENT SUMMARY - A. SALO PROPERTY ( MCGARRY TOWNSHIP ^ NTS 32D/4 Introduction On May 25, 1995, Falconbridge geologist Ray Kohlsmith visited staked claims A located 500m north of Foxearth Lake in McGarry Township owned by A. Salo. The claims are part of a larger grouping of contiguous claims that stretch across much of northern McGarry Township. The geology over much of northern McGarry Township consists of massive to amygdaloidal mafic volcanics with common dacitic volcanics/dacitic breccia and minor intrusive quartz porphyry and syenite dykes. The felsics generally display a low-magnetic signature relative to the higher magnetic background of the mafic volcanics. The northern pan of McGarry Twp was covered by a airborne INPUT and a 1992 airborne GEOTEM survey; no conductors were detected. Field Visit Mineralization occurs on the property as pyritic infilling of a mafic pillow breccia ( S-10% pyrite). Two samples collected (AR A 03765) did not return any anomalous base metal values. A possible tongue of felsic volcanics extends under a swamp immediately to the north of the pyritic mafics: an isolated outcrop of gabbro (sample AR 04800) occurs in this area. Two samples (AR SL ) of mafic pillow breccia were collected for whole rock analyses. Whole rock results indicate no Na-depletion in the mafics or related signs of VMS-style alteration. Recommendations Although sampling was limited over the area, die property does not appear to have a high potential to host VMS mineralization. There is an absence of GEOTEM conductors and no base metal values have been reported from the sulphide showing on Claim Therefor Falconbridge is not interested in this particular property at this time.
