2 02 Location and access. Tyrrell Township is located in the district of Timiskaming, between longitudes 80 55' and 81 12' W, and Latitudes 47 40' N. The township covers about 35 square miles, and are located about midway between Sudbury and Timmins. Tyrrell Township forms part of the East Shining Tree Silver Area which also includes Leonard Township to the south. Highway No,560 extends east to Gowganda and Elk Lake and west to the railway station at Westree and highway 144 which is north south from Timmins to Sudbury. This highway crosses the northern part of Tyrrell Township. Leading southwards from this highway are two (2) main gravel roads suitable for almost any vehicle: the Spear Lake Fire access road in eastern Tyrrell Township, the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario (HEPC) access road in western Tyrrell Township. For access to the claims in question, a gravel road which is partly flooded but has a goon' base extends northwesterly front highway 560 on the west side of, Gordon Lake which is barely visible on the north '.Me of the highway. Regional Geology. All consolidated rocks in the area belong to the Precambrian. The Phanerozoic is represented by unconsolidated sand and gravel and swamp and glaciolacustrine sediments of the Pleistocene and Recent periods. Early Precambrian (Archean) rocks comprise a suite of metamorphosed mafic to felsic extrusive and pyroclastic rocks, interbedded with iron formation and associated ultramafic rocks, and a suite of mafic to felsic intrusive rocks. The volcanic rocks are predominantly subalkaline basaltic to rhyolitic rocks, but less voluminous alkaline trachybasaltic and trachytic rocks are also present. The intrusive rocks comprise small irregular bodies of gabbro, and serpentinite; granodiorite, granite granophyre, and feldspar porphyry. Some of the serpentinite may be metavclcanic flows. Diabase dikes form a parallel northwest-trending dike swarm which postdates the felsic intrusives. The Middle Precambrian is represented by Cobalt Group sediments of the Huronian Supergroup and Nipissing Diabase. Fold axes, trend north-northwestward in Tyrrell Township. The major faults trend north-northwest and postdate the Early and Middle Precambrian rocks. The most important mineralization consists of gold and silver, the f or mer being the more important. Asbestos, copper, and iron also occur. Gold, silver, and copper mineralization is of the vein type, but one occurrence of copper may be of the massive sulphide type. Exploration activity led to the establishment of a producing mine: The Tyranite Mine which produced from 1939 to There are no operating mines in the area at this time.

3 03 Economic geology. Economic interest in the area derived from the occurrence of gold associated with the mafic to intermediate metavolcanics, iron formation, and silver associated with the Nipissing Diabase, Iron formation was first discovered in the area by: Burwash (1896). Silver was discovered at Gowganda, about 24 kilometres east of the area, in 1908 and within the area in the same year by Dan Mosher at Mosher Lake, east central Tyrrell Township. Gold was first discovered in south west Macmurchy Township in 1911 on the former Jefferson claim, TRS Copper was discovered in the early 1960's on the Brunel claim In west central Macmurchy Township. Exploration activity has been continuous from the final years of the first decade of this century to the present reaching a peak in the 1930 's. This activity culminated in the establishment of a producing mine, a gold producer: The Tyranite Mine on the central part of the b mndary between Tyrrell and Knight Townships. The mine produced 31,352. unces of gold and 4,860 ounces of silver from 223,810 tons of ore milled from the Hedlund Vein. This vein consists of two north-trending carbonatized and pyritized shears, one 120 m (400 feet) long and 12 m (39 feet) wide, the other 60 m (200 feet) long and 6 m (20 feet) wide at the surface. Production was maintained from 1939 to Silver was also produced from veins in Nipissing Diabase at Mosher Lake in Tyrrell Township. However, the quantity produced is not known. Work Performed. *^ Jl&Cft A program of power stripping was undertaken in order to locate bedrock in the low lying area in which the claims lie. Numerous trenches were excavated before locating bedrock. The area in which we stripped is on the edge of a small esker. The over burden is about 6 to 8 feet even where we did hit rock. Upon exposing the rock we have found that the unit consists of slightly altered dacite containing small patches of pyrite, and pyrrhotite. the rock weathers an almost black colour and is dark purple or mauve in places. In other places the rocks are pale pink to brown. The mineralization seen to this point does not merit any further attention but in an area of overburden as we have encountered here Magnetometer and Electro magnetic surveys should be undertaken to locate any conductors underlying the thin but persistent overburden. No outcrop could be located anywhere on the claims except where we have dug, and the Tyranite Mine was operated on north-south trending shear zones. The property adjoining the north boundary of the O'Connor claim is the former Tyranite Mine property.
