15 س Minorities and their Impact on the Stability of the Nato State Iraq's Kurds as an Example Prepared by Fayez Abdallah AL-ssaf Supervisor Prof. Mohammed Awad Al-Hazaimeh Abstract This study aims at identifying the role of minorities in national states stability where the Iraqi Kurds served as an example. This study was based on a hypothesis stating that minorities play a major role the national state as is the case among the Kurdish minorities in Iraq. The researcher used the historical method to enable him to understand the present and the future by reference to the past, and the descriptive procedure to describe events and their consequences and finally the analytic to understand the aftermath of historical events. This study concluded with many findings most important of which is the Kurds of Iraq who constitute the winning side in the states with interest specially in Iraqi Kurdistan and Iraq at large, in order for the Kurdes to remain a voice of opposition against the Iraqi government so as Iraq remains liable to disorder and unrest, which consequently contributes to realizing other states interest in Iraq. In addition, de stabilization reasons stem from Kurdistan itself which has plenty of natural and mineral resources. The five big countries which have interests in Kurdistan struggle hard to arouse the Kurdistan nationalism which is in opposition to the national Iraqi state. It is note worthy to mention that whatever the Kurds have achieved politically came as a reward to their support of Iraqi enemies. The study concluded with the following: Raising awareness among the Kurdish community so that they do not endorse the enemies targets and they should know the occupation will depart and the facts of geography will remain the same and the Kurds have no other options but consolidate their ties with the Iraqi State. This can be achieved through many programs on satellite TV channels to limit the Kurdish revolutionary moves.
16 ع The decision makers in Iraq should take the interests of the Kurdish minorities makers in consideration and treat them equally with other population segments and give them their rights in the realms of politics and administrations in proportion to the total population of Iraq.
