5 1. INTRODUCTION This report is prepared to document the results of two geophysical surveys carried out on the Rhone Group, Rock Creek property. During the period May 31st to June 4th, 1991 a UTEM resistivity test survey was completed and during the period May 14th to 20th, 1986 a magnetometer survey was completed. The UTEM survey consisted of 1.86 kilometres of 10 metre station increments and the magnetometer survey consisted of 5.42 kilometres of 10.0 metre station increments. The results of the UTEM survey will be correlated with magnetic data. 2. CLAIMS The Rhone Group, Rock Creek property is comprised of six reverted crown grants. The claims cover a portion of the West Kettle River Valley and a portion of the ridge flanking the valley to the west. The property is in the Greenwood Mining Division, NTS 82E/3E and

6 2 82E/6E, and is centered at approximately 49O12' north latitude and 119O 1.5' west longitude. 4. ACCESS The property is easily accessible from Rock Creek via paved Provincial Highway #33 which crosses the eastern portion of the property. A network of good quality dirt logging and private roads provides access to all of the property. The closest settlement to the property is Westbridge; the nearest supply center is Osoyoos, which is approximately 50 kilometres to the southwest. Food and lodging are available in Rock Creek. 5. TOPOGRAPHY AND C LIMATE The Rock Creek property covers a portion of the West Kettle River Valley and extends over the mountain ridge flanking the west side of the valley. Elevations on the property are between 650 and 1,350 metres. From the halfkilometre wide valley floor the slope rises fairly gradually to about 900 metres, where the slope becomes steep with bluffs and cliffs in places. At approximately 1200 metres it flattens out into a plateau. The area is characterized by a variation of the continental climate, with warm to hot dry summers and fairly cold winters. Precipitation during the year is low. Snow accumulation in the lower regions is low, but on the higher portions of the property it commonly reaches one metre. The forest cover is moderate to light, consisting of Pine, Douglas fir, and Tamarack; underbrush is very light except for several very localized areas where cedar thickets grow above underground streams.

7 3 6. INTERPRETATION The UTEM resistivity test survey and the magnetometer survey have outlined two major structures on the Rock Creek property. These structures trend NNE and are associated with coincident magnetic highs and resistivity highs. The first structure is coincident with a target area explored in July 1987 on the basis of high assays found in the 1986 exploration program. The second structure is east of the first and also correlates well with a magnetic high. A third UTEM anomaly parallels the second, has a longer strike length and correlates minimally with the magnetic data. The overall magnetic relief is 3,522 nt. The likely nature of the resistivity anomalies is quartz veining or highly silicified structures. The UTEM resistivity survey indicates a very high background resistivity response which limits the ability to distinguish, based on geophysics alone, the highly silicious structures of interest. They appear, from comparison with the magnetic data to have a contiguous NNE trend, but it is not certain whether they are discrete narrow, shallow structures or just the highly variable response of one(or more) lithological units. It is not in the scope of this report for a detailed comparison with local geology. The first target area explored in 1987 was, line 240 south 200 west, a narrow silicified structure, enveloped by two mafic dikes. The UTEM response lies exactly on this and extends at least 120 metres north and south of line 240 south. There is no UTEM data for the subsequent lines along this trend. The magnetometer survey outlined the same structure and adds a probable strike length extending beyond line 0 south. The mafic dikes are the likely cause of the high magnetic anomaly. The target area on line 240 south had been sufficiently explored with no further work recommended in 1987, but lines along strike of the

8 4 coincident UTEM and magnetometer anomaly may be of interest for further prospecting. The second UTEM anomaly trends NNE and has a potential length of 350 metres. This anomaly correlates well with a magnetic high between line 360 south and 0 south. The third resistivity anomaly is traceable between lines 120 south and 600 south, but does not correlate well with the magnetics. On line 600 south at approximately 100 west resistivity highs bound a magnetic high. 7. GEOLOGY REGIONAL GEOLOGY The property is underlain by the Cretaceous Nelson Plutonic Rocks, Paleocene or Eocene porphyritic granite or rhyolite and the Eocene volcanic group previously known as the "Midway Volcanic Group1' and as the "Phoenix Group". Tertiary sediments are present in close vicinity to the property. The main structural trend seems to be northeastsouthwest. LOCAL GEOLOGY Three main rock types have been recognized on the property so far. Classification is by field determination only and further petrographic study is necessary for proper identification. The dominant rock type is a medium grained quartz diorite, with hornblende and/or biotite as the mafic constituent, of the Nelson Plutonic Rocks. The colour of the fresh rock is medium gray, greenish or pinkish where altered. The second abundant rock type is the rhyolite porphyry. Its composition varies with a predominance of plagioclase phenocrysts in some locations and a predominance of hornblende (and/or biotite) in others. The exact

9 5 r P relationship between the porphyry and the quartz diorite is not yet clear. The third rock type is dark brownish-grey mafic dikes. These dikes have intruded and altered the diorite producing alteration envelopes that are on average 10 metres wide. ALTERATION The majority of alteration appears in the quartz diorite enveloping porphyry dikes, at the contacts of porphyry bodies and along the shear zones. Silicification is the most prominent alteration appearing as flooding, stockwork and/or as narrow veins. Pyritization is also widespread and appears mostly as dissemination and as fracture filling. Locally pyrite has subsequently been altered into hematite which in turn stains feldspar. Chlorite alteration is widespread and it often gives diorite a greenish colour. Kaolinization is noted locally and in places the presence of talc and epidote is detected. In some zones potassic alteration of feldspars is fairly prominent. MINERALIZATION So far all mineralization has been found in the quartz diorite. It comprises gold values with irregular presence of silver. Gold is found in the quartz veins along shear zones, in the quartz breccia and locally appears in the altered and pyritized diorite.

10 6 c The quartz veins carry various amounts of pyrite, often with minor amounts of chalcopyrite and/or fine grained galena. The silver to gold ratio is not constant. No metallic gold has been found so far. ' S.J.V. Cdsultants Ltd.
