4 1 SUMMARY The Matrix Property is road accessible and covers the northern slopes of Sumas Mountain northeast of Abbotsford, BC The property is beiig explored for decorative rock by the owner and associates and covers approximately 878 hectares The property has no history ofprevious exploration It partially covers an inlier ofmesozoic age granitic and volcanic rocks within a cover of Recent Fraser River flood plain and Pleistocene glacial deposits In 2001 Eagle Mapping Services Ltd produced a digital orthophoto base map covering the Matrix #I claim This map wiii be used during future exploration and any development work on the property

6 3 10 INTRODUCTION This is a short report on the Matrix property located on the Sumas Mountain northeast of Abbotsford, BCand withinthenew Westminster Miig DivisionofBritishColumbia The property was staked by P Watt in 2000 and is being explored for decorative rock This report documents the production of a 1:2500 scale orthophoto base map which will be used for future exploration and pit development / planning 11 LOCATION AND ACCESS The Matrix property is located on the northern slopes of Sumas Mountain 14 kilometres northeast of Abbotsford (Figure 1) Sumas Mountain Provincial Park lies adjacent and south of the property boundary (Figure 2) There is excellent road access to the property from Abbotsford via Quadling road at the east end of Sumas Mountain A main forestry service road with several spurs yields access to the higher ground on the Matrix #l mineral claim (Figure 2) The steep slopes further to the north are accessible only by foot (northern Matrix 1); the main CNR railway line follows the south bank of the Fraser River below 12 TOPOGRAPHY, VEGETATION AND CLIMATE The Matrix property covers the heavily wooded, steep northern slopes and ridge top area on Sumas Mountain This property lies within NTS Map Sheet 92G/O 1 E at Latitude 49 07, Longitude Elevations rise t?om near sea level along the Fraser River to between 600 and 800 metres in the southern parts ofthe Matrix # 1 &ii Much ofthis southern area on the undulating ridge top has been logged and replanted Several steep sided gullies cut deeply into the northern slopes

7 4 The mild and wet climate experienced by the mountain area supports thick stands of mature (mixed) timber, basically cool temperate rain forest Significant snowfall occurs during the winter months with accumulations of up to 1 metre 13 PROPERTY The Matrix property consists of 35 units in one modified grid (Matrix #I) and 15 two- post mineral claims in the New Westminster Mining Division of British Columbia The claims cover approximately 875 hectares and are owned by Paul Watt residing at 1058 Moncton Avenue, Kamloops BC V2B 1 S4 Details regarding the claims can be obtained from Table 1 with locations on Figure 2 14 EXPLORATION HISTORY The Matrix property has no history ofmineral exploration before 2000 Prospecting by P Watt along the logged ridge top northeast of Chadsey Lake identified outcrops of pink and green coloured felsic intrusive rocks with potential for decorative stone Staking of the Matrix #I to 16 followed 15 REGIONAL GEOLOGY The property lies within the Coast Belt composed Largely of granite and metamorphic rocks of the Coast Plutonic Complex The Fraser Valley features a wide flood plaii with thick Quaternary river sediments and Pleistocene glacial8uvial- glaciolacustrine deposits Older rocks including Tertiary age basalt and sediments, Pre Tertiary age granitic, volcanic, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks form several

10 isolated peaks and ridges along the valley The Sumas Mountain ridge appears to be one of the largest of these 7 16 PROPERTY GEOLOGY Regional scale geological mapping mainly by Armstrong and indicates that the Sumas Mountaininlier consists ofmesozoic age volcanics in the south, and predominantly granitic rocks in the peak area to the north Discussions with the property owner indicated the Matrix #l area is underlain by medium to coarse grained, pink and green coloured granodiotite to quartz monzonite Pi K Feldspar phenocrysts are common in a quartz-plagioclase ground mass The latter are epidotized in more f?actured areas Local small matic (possibly gabbroic) xenoliths are also evident Some volcanics or more intermediate composition, fine to medium grained introsives outcrop in the western area The mottled pink and green intrusive rocks on the Matrix #l claim arc Wig their decorative rock potential evaluated for

11 BASE MAP PRODUCTION 21 INTRODUCTION Prospecting by P Watt mainly in 200 indicated potential for decorative rock in the ridge area within the southern parts ofthe Matrix #l claim The main targets are road accessible and lie within previously logged areas Bulk sampling has been proposed by the owner and associates to better evaluate the decorative rock potential Application for permits for this bulk sampling have been made to the BC Ministry of Energy and Mines On the recommendations of the author a 1:2500 scale orthphoto base map was produced by Eagle Mapping Serviced Ltd This map could be used for future exploration, planning of pits, surhtce plant, access, claim boundaries etc The orthophoto map was produced during September 2001, and combined with this report had a total cost of $3,80000 This total is being applied for assessment work credit on the Matrix claim grouping 22 METHOD Eagle Mapping Services Ltd based in Port Coquitlam BC were contracted to produced a 1:2500 scale topographic base map from recent colour aerial photography (2001) Lloyd Hume of Eagle kindly outlined the procedure in the following letter (Table 2) 23 RESULTS A black and white copy of the f%tall:2500 scale orthophoto base map is included in Appendix 2 The approximate positions of the &ii boundaries and posts were added by the property owner at the request of the author It should be noted that the base map covers the majority of the Matrix #I mineral claim The proposed bulk sampling will take place in the south cental area proximal to the road network
