7 Clam Descrpton - The Lost Lghtnng Peak Mne clam conssts of 20 unts n the modfed grd system. Fve East by four South n the lower Kettle Rver area. The clam s located n the Vernon Mnng Dvson on NTS map 82E/15E. t was recorded on 1 December 1988 on tag no The locator was Larry D. Lutjen; RRl-Boxl2-Sll; Chase, B.C.; VOE-1MO. The record number of the clam s Locaton and Access -The Lost Lghtnng Peak Mne s located n the lower Kettle Rver area. The clam s accessable by good loggng road (Lnegoat Creek loggng road), located East of the Monoshee Pass. From Vernon take hghway #6 to the Monoshee Pass. Once through the pass look for the Spruce Grove Restruant on the rght hand sde of the road. Just passed the Spruce Grove (100m) on the rght s the Lnegoat Creek loggng road. Take the Lnegoat Creek loggng road to the Wnnfred Creek brdge. Cross the brdge and proceed.3km to unnamed access road on your left. Take the access road East for 2.2km and the Lost L- --ghtnng Peak Mne L.C.P. wll be on the West sde of the road. w Geology - To the West Gf the Lost Lghtnng Peak Mne clam n the Kettle Rver Valley s one of two outcrops of Trassc Okanagan Plutonc rocks. They consst of hornblende, mnor shst, paragness, botte gness, quartzte, and amphbotte, whch probably represents the basement rocks of a hghly metamorphosed sedmentary basn. At hgher elevatons to the East s the Nelson Plutonc Complex whch s probably comfortably overlyng the Okanagan Plutonc sedments(?). The Nelson Complex conssts of late Jurrasc quartz dorte, gabbro,gr- - ante, mnor dorte, granodorte, amphbolte, and ultramafc rocks. Several outcrops of quartz dorte were encountered durng the prospectng traverse of the Lost Lghtnng Peak Mne and are recorded on the detaled map of the traverse (enclosed). Vegetaton - The lower levels ( ) of the clam are a mxture of Fr, Cedar, and Brch. The latter especally around well rrgated locatons. Abundant clusters of Devls Club and Vnealder occur n the stream beds of both Lghtnng Creeks ( East and South). Once you get up to the hgher elevatons ( ) the Fr and Cedar de-out and you get nto Alpne forest of Balsam Fr and Spruce. Very few outcrops were outlned on ths traverse due to massve overburden. Both creeks (East and South) run year-round and could be an excellent source for drllng. Page 4

(see dataled traverse map) Day 2- Traversed up Lost Lghtnng Peak Mne road n an attempt to locate the old works (unsuccessful). Day 3- Traversed up Lghtnng Creek East to headwaters at (1600m) level. hcated several outcrops of granodorte possbly from the Nelson Batholth (?). Once agan we could'nt locate the old works. Day 4- Traversed up Lghtnng Creek South to the (1500m) level. Crossed the clam boundry but dd'nt locate the o ld works. Mapped several outcrops of granodorte as ndcated on the traverse map. w Day 5- Broke camp and demoblzed survey. Page 5
