(. :.!:. c t.! t.! : Page The followng report descrbes the results of a geologcal mappng! program and ground magnetometer survey Carred out on a group of 220 : clams northeast of Tunkwa Lake n the Hghland Valley area of Brtsh:.. Columba. Ths work was carred out durng the early part of the 969 feld season. The clams were located to cover a promnent magnetc anomalysmlar to those -assocated wth the Bethlehem Copper Valley Copper and Lornex NTRODUCTON!. *. 0 GEOLOGY..!;; :. ~.!!!..! The Ncola Group Upper Trassc and underlyng the eastern porton of the clam block s poorlyexposed. Small scattered outcrops.ndcate * that three basc dvsons are warranted. The oldest unt comprses a j... ~ massve hornblende porphyry lght to medum green wth randomly orented.! laths of hornblende up to /2 nch n length. 7 Page 3 MAGNETOMETER SURVEY A magnetometer survey was cdnducted on a flagged grd wth 00 foot statons on north-south lnes spaced at 800 foot ntervals. Two MF- Sharpe Fluxgate Magnetometers were used wth one beng located at a base staton. The latter nstrument was read at 20-mnute ntervals n order to correct for durnal ard daly varatons. The results were plotted and contoured usng a contour nterval of SOOX (gammas) and the resultng map s presented on a scale of one nch equals one thousand feet. The results of the magnetometer survey show a number of small and randomly dstrbuted magnetc hghs and depressons and t s reasonable to suggest that they are the result of local varatons n composton of the underlyng volcanc rocks. ; l ; RECOMMENDATONS No evdence of mneralzaton or geologc features favourable to mneral zaton was found wthn the clam group examned.
