4 REPORT ON FLAT CREEK MAGNETC SURVEY 1. NTROWCTON: n March 1967 the Cassar Asbestos Corporaton requested that Paul S. Whte P. Eng., (Mnng) carry out a reconnassance survey usng arborne magnetometer equpment of certan - FLAT mneral clams n the Turnagan Rver area of the Cry Lake map sheet n the Casslar Mnng Dvson of the Provnce of Brtsh Columba. Mr. Whte was commssoned to act as consultant and prme contractor n the performance of the survey. Mr. Whte selected the method of survey as a helcopter borne Varan magnetometer survey for the purpose of outlnng target areas for follow-up ground nvestgaton durng the 1967 summer feld season, and engaged the followng companes to partcpate n the performance of the survey; a) Coast Range Arways Ltd. b) Chapman, Wood & Grlswold Ltd. c ) Exploraton Geophyscs (Yukon) Ltd. d) Whte, ~osfokd & mpey Ltd. The dutes of the varous companes are descrbed n the later secton of ths report ttled "PERSONNEL"; The survey was scheduled for early June and n fact took place between the dates of June 11th and June 14th, 1967.

'7 LOCATON OF SURVEY AND MNERAL CLAMS The magnetc survey covered the mneral clams whch are located n the general area overlyng the juncton of the Turnagan Rver and Hard Creek, at approxmate north lattude 58O and west longtltude 128' (S.E. Sheet corner) on! Map Sheet 104 /? W(M). The mneral clams grouped for, : Assessment Work by ths report are the - FLAT M.C.s Nos. 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 43, 44, 45, 46, and are shown n relaton to the survey on Map 2 n the Appendx accompanyng ths report. A copy of the CRY LAKE map sheet 1 No. 104 s also ncluded n the Appendx as Map 1.? j? : GENERAL GEOLOGY The area flown as shown by Map 2 s almost entrely underlan by a sngle, large, ultramafc ntrusve of gabbro through perdotte composllon. The ultramafc body s oval shaped n plan and measupes approxmately 5 mles by 3 mles beng elongated northwesterly and parallellng the southern margn of the Cassar Batholth, from whch t s separated by a 4 mle 1 wde belt of Lower Jurassc sedmentary rocks. The ultramafc body forms buff weatherkng outcrops on both sdes of the Turnagan Rver n the northern part of the project area and s obscured by talus, overburden and vegetaton to the south* A large grantc stock s known to be present southwest of Hard and Flat Creeks andc.a grante-ultramaflc contact s a lkely possblty. To the southeast the ultramafc body appears to be ntrusve nto the arglltes and chert arentes of the Msssalppan Sylvester Group.

GENERAL GEOLOGY (Contnued) The ultramafc vares n nternal color from lght mottled grey to dense black. t contans much crystallne olvne and n places approaches dunte composton. Some,phases of the body are pyroxentc. The entre body s magnegc but the magnette dstrbuton vares wldely. Pyrrhotte s 7 known to be wdely dstrbuted throughout the mass and n places t carres erratc amounts of nckel and copper sulphdes. A NOTE: Geology descrbed suppled by W. Plumb, Chef Geologst, Cassar Asbestos Corporaton. EQUPMENT USED FOR SURVEY A Bell 47G-3B1 helcopter (CF-UFC) wth plot and engneer was suppled by Coast Range Arways Ltd. of Atln B.C. after the helcopter's power supply was adapted to receve the electrcal connectons of the Verbn magnetometer used. The magnetometer was suppled, wth operator- navgator, by Chapman, Wood and Grlswold Ltd, Consultng Geologsts and. Engneers, of Vancouver B.C. The nstrument used was a Varan Assocates of Palo Alto, Calforna, Model V 4937 Proton magnetometer of arborne confguraton. Ths magnetometer utlzes proton free precesson to measure and record absolute total ntensty of Earth's magnetc feld. A phase lock crcutry multples precesson frequency for drect gamma readout usng an analog strp chart recorder. The nstrument's range s one hundred thousand gammas wth senstvty of plus or mnus one gamma.

SURVEY PERFORMANCE The survey was scheduled for early June performance and all personnel met n Whtehorse on JunelO, Lason was completed and all personnel left for the D.of T. camp at Dease Lake where a supply of gas had been establshed. The magnetometer was nstalled n the helcopeter on June 11th and the reconnalseance flght of the area made that day. The actual survey work was performed on June 13th and June 14th. The total helcopter hours exclusve of ferry tme from Atln to Dease Lake and return were 4.9 hrs. The total mleage flown obtanng usable magnetc readngs was 48.0.

8 . REPORT ON FLAT CREEK MAGNETC SURVEY ( cant ) "\ SURVEY PERFORMANCE (contnued) The locaton of the flght lnes are shorn on Map 2. The flght lnes were $%allel for the most part and spaced from 1000 feet to 1320 feet apart, runnng n a northeasterly and southwesterly pattern. The results were plotted on Map 2 at a scale of 1320' = 1.nch, and contoured at ntervals of 200 gammas to gve the magnetc contours shown on Map 2., The reducton of feld data was performed once by P.H. and D. Gamble n the feld to gve a prelmnam work map for > area exploraton analyss, and the results of the frst 3 Blanchet reducton were plotted n Whtehorse between June 15th and June 1 readngs to Mr. J.S. Brock, a graduate of the Unversty of 3 - Brtsh Columba n Geophyscs, who wth Mr. Whte made a fnal 21st. These work maps were sent wth the strp charts of magnetc data reducton and fnshed map of the survey. Mr. Brock s l a drector and consultant to a geophyscal contractng company 3 of Whtehorse Yukon*,- Exploraton Geopyscs (Yukon) Ltd. RESULTS OF SURVEY The results of the survey are shown n contour form on Map 2 and show total magnetc ntensty n gammas of the Earth's magnetc feld. Thpee areas of hgh magnetc response were outlned n the area surveyed and are centred on 1) Fducal pont 21 - Flght lne No. 64 2) Fducal pont 44- Flght lne No. 61 3) Fducal pont 56- Flght lne No. 59 Magnetc hghs ndcatng probable magnette or other form of ron concentraton were also found along the northerly. boundary of the area surveyed and the sad areas of hgh response ponted out to the clent for hs consderaton and

CONCLUSONS AND SUMMARY The magnetc survey of the Flat mneral clams was undertaken by Paul S. Whte (Whte, Hosford and mpey Ltd.) on behalf of Cassar Asbestos Corporaton and performed between June 11th and June 14th, The survey covered the area shown on Map 2, and was aocompllshed by obtanng usable results from 48.0 lne mles of helcopter borne magnetometer readngs. The expendtures as shown by affdavt accompanyng ths report were n total the amount of $ whch expendtures covered all charter helcopter charges, consultng fees to Chapman, Wood and Grlsw~ld Ltd. (ncludng magnetometer rental), all feld expenses for travel and subsstence for personnel, data reducton and nterpretaton by Exploraton Geophyscs (Yukon ) Ltd., and Whte, Hosford and mpey Ltd.
