Summary Terry Garrow, P. Geo was retained to complete a geophysical refraction seismic reconnaissance survey of the Fontaine Placer Property, claim 897, in the Cariboo Mining District. Two GPS documented seismic survey lines were completed to locate historic tertiary channels on the. The lines were 00m apart. The first line was 0 meters and the second line was 60meters long. The survey consisted of five spreads, each spread utilizing twelve hertz geophones, spaced 0 meters apart. The seismic exploration work took place between July 8, 0 and August, 0. The registered owner of the mentioned claim is Jason Walter of Surrey B.C. The crew utilized an Ashtech Mobile Mapper 00 GPS and a Seismograph Geode ES-000. The seismic data suggests that there are two promising paleo-channels, though they may be connected. Further seismic testing is recommended, to define the channel and locate other channels in the valley. Two reverse circulation or auger drill holes and shallow test pits have also been recommended to determine if the channels carry gold of economic grade. The seismic survey was the first step in a three year program to investigate historic tertiary channels on the property. Location and Access The, claim 897, is located on NTS map sheet 9A/E at latitude 8 N and longitude W and UTM Zone 0 NAD 8, 807N, 8706E The property is located 60.km east of Quesnel B.C. (Map, Map) To Access the claim from Quesnel, B.C. drive 0.km east on Highway 6 to the 00 Forestry Rd. (Cold Spring House). Turn south onto the 00 Rd, you will cross Lightning Creek. At.km turn east on the K Rd. Head 7km east into the claim to the bridge at the fork of the Font and Fontaine Creeks. A number of x accessible dirt roads cross the claim.
Map : BC Property Location Property and Ownership The Fontaine Placer property is 00% owned by Jason Walter of Surrey B.C. and is located within the Cariboo Mining Division B.C. The Mineral Claims are comprised of one claim (Map ). Name Fontaine Creek Tenure No. 897 Units Cells/HA 6.8 Anniversary Date Oct, 0
Map : Claim
Photo : Road into the claim Physiography The Fontaine property lies in the Quesnel Trough, north of Cariboo Mountain in the interior of B.C. This area is characterized by moderate, rounded mountainous terrain. The region has been glaciated by continental ice sheets during the Pleistocene. Elevations on the claim roughly range from,000m-,00m. The property lies in a mountain valley that is heavily wooded with forestry cut sections. Vegetation is thick to sparse and consists of pines and firs as well as alders, cottonwoods, and willows with heavy underbrush near the streams. Outcrops are rare on the property. Average temperatures range from - to - C in winter to to 9 C in summer. Snowfall is often heavy in the winter. The property is accessible from May to November by x vehicles. 6
Historic Work This region has been explored for gold since the mid 800 s during the Cariboo gold rush. Placer and lode gold have been found in many of the surrounding areas. In 86 placer gold was found by Ned Campell near the fork of Lightning Creek and Van Winkle Creek. Burns Mountain was the first lode gold struck nearby in 870 (Aris 767). Both areas lie just to the north of the and continue to be explored and to produce gold. In addition; the Little Swift River lies to the west and is also a know producer of placer gold. Though no specific historic reports were found for the Fontaine property; historic pits were found and recorded during 0 field work. Regional and Local Geology The Cariboo region has undergone major orogenic events resulting in regional deformation, metamorphism, and a complex patchwork of terranes and rock types. The is located on the eastern edge of the fault bound Kootenay Terrane in the Omineca Belt. The property is near a thrust fault separating the Quesnel Terrane of the Intermontane belt with Omineca belt. To the west is the Cariboo/Cassiar Terrane and to the North is the Slide Mountain Terrane. These four terranes were deposited in an oceanic environment and subsequently accreted. The property is solely underlain by undivided metamorphic rocks of the Snowshoe group. The Snowshoe group was divided into fourteen subdivisions by Struik in 988. The divisions are: Harvey s Ridge, Goose Peak, Downey, Ramos, Kee Khan, Hardscrabble, Tregillus, unnamed carbonate, Tom, Keithley, Bralco, Island Mountain, Downey, and Agnes. The Snowshoe group ranges in age from upper Proterozoic to Paleozoic. Rare intrusive diorite occurs around the property but none has been confirmed within the property boundaries. All of the rocks have been regionally metamorphosed to low and middle greenschist facies (Aris 8). Rocks in the area consists of metasediments; primarily phyllite, quartzite, and argillite. 7

0 Work Program Terry Garrow, P. Geo. was retained to complete a two line refraction seismic reconnaissance survey as a preliminary evaluation of the. The field geophysical crew consisted of a two person crew for four days, plus senior field supervision. The seismic exploration work took place between July 8, 0 and August, 0. The 0 work program consisted of two lines with five 0m seismic geophysical spreads. The two lines are 00m apart and run north-west to south-east and perpendicular to the valley in order to locate historic tertiary channels of the Fontaine Creek and determine depth of bedrock (Map, Figures -). The crew utilized an Ashtech Mobile Mapper 00 and a Seismograph Geode ES-000. Seismic Line is 0m long and consists of two spreads, Seismic Line - spread and spread (Figure, Figure ). Seismic Line is 60m long and consists of three spreads, Seismic Line spread, spread, and spread (Figure, Figure, Figure ). Each spread was 0m long with geophones, each placed 0m apart. A sledge hammer was utilized as the energy source for data recordings. The sledge hammer was used at five stations along the geophones with three shots at each station to obtain optimal results. The stations, shot points, were located at -0m from the first geophone, at geophone one, geophone six, geophone twelve, and +0 past geophone twelve. The best of each shot was processed. The data from the Geode ES-000 is in Appendix. GPS Location control The Ashtech Magellan Mobile Mapper 00 is a handheld device, designed for GPS data collection and field mapping; the Mobile Mapper exhibited sub-meter accuracy was used to locate and record seismic lines, historic pits, and roads. Seismograph (Geode) The Geode ES-000 is a portable field seismograph with twelve hertz geophones. It is designed to be used with an energy source, such as a sledge hammer or explosive, to determine the changes in density of the subsurface by recording time and velocity at each geophone. It can show contours of bedrock, faults, and different density gravels. 9

Interpretation Each spread is an individual set of data. The top layer (pink) is generally loose sand and gravel and soil. The contact between the middle layer (green) and the bottom layer (blue) is our target for locating tertiary channels. This often gives us the historic paleotopography. Line Spread shows a likely paleo-channel with a resistant cut-bank or bedrock shelf on the left side. Line Spread shows a promising paleo-channel, likely the same channel from Line. The Line Spread, Line Spread and do not show paleo-channels. Recommendations This was the first stage of a planned three year project to evaluate the. Two promising paleo-channels are evident in Line Spread and Line Spread. I recommend one test Auger or Reverse Circulation drill hole and small test pits in each target channel to determine if the paleo-channel carries gold and economic grade. If pit tests prove successful, I recommend we continue running seismic lines between and out from Line and Line at m intervals to determine the course of the paleo-channel. I would also advise several longer lines across the valley to the north and south at 00m intervals to determine the existence of more paleo-channels.
