5 INTRODUCTION Grubstake Management (Nfld.) Ltd., jointly with Alex Harris and Gordon Stefanuk, acquired 6 claim blocks (16407M, 16408M, 16526M, 16561M, 16562M and 16563M) totaling 164 claims on Fogo Island, Nfld., NTS sheet 2E/09 in Early in 2010 these claims were transferred to Newfoundland Fluorspar Exploration Ltd. (Newfluorex). Results of initial compilation work, air photo interpretation, hydrogeochemical survey and prospecting were reported by Harris (2010). Licences 16407M and 16526M were reduced in March, 2011 to licences 18905M, 18906M, and 18907M. Licences 16408M and 18907M were subsequently grouped to form licence 18908M M was reduced November, 2012 to form licence 20673M. This report covers work performed in 2013 on licence 20673M which totals 14 claims. Claim locations are shown on map 1. LOCATION AND ACCESS Fogo Island is located in northeastern Newfoundland on NTS map sheet 2E/09. Newfluorex claims are in the area between to north latitude, to west longitude. Access to Fogo Island is by a 1.5 hr. vehicle ferry trip from Farewell, Nfld. Paved highways (routes 333 and 334) provide good access to the claims. PREVIOUS EXPLORATION Harris (2010) reported that a search of Assessment Files and other documents at Department of Mines and Energy at St. John s indicates that the area of Newfluorex s Fogo Island claims is relatively unexplored. Rutledge and Seguin (1955) investigated an airborne magnetic anomaly 1 mile southeast of southern end of Shoal Bay. Anomaly was explained by magnetic aplite containing up to 3% fine dusty magnetite Butler (1991) reported on a 2-day prospecting visit to Fogo Island. He identified a small molybdenite occurrence near Gull Pond, Central Fogo Island Harris (2010) compiled previous work and reported on air photo interpretation, hydrogeochemical survey and prospecting. Harris (2011) reported results of additional water sampling, initial soil sampling, and Geological Observations. Harris (2012) reported results of a test program to determine if soil samples could be recovered from beneath a bog using extension augers. Sampling was attempted at 17 sites with No Sample Available at 10 sites. The highest fluoride value reported was 300ppm with 3 other values at or above 200 ppm. 3

6 GEOLOGY Claims are located on the Devonian Fogo batholith (Baird, D.M., 1958), a pinkish red granite composed of quartz, feldspar, hornblende and some biotite. Currie (1997) remarked that the extreme scarcity of pegmatites, quartz veins, and alteration indicate relatively dry magma, greatly reducing the economic potential of the batholith. Sandeman and Malpas (1995) noted that Strong and Dickson (1978) had compared the Fogo Island batholith to the Mount Peyton batholith, a similar bimodal plutonic assemblage but concluded that their field, petrographic, and geochemical data demonstrate the anorogenic, alkaline nature of the granites of Fogo Island, and distinguish them from typical I-type, calc-alkaline granites of the Mount Peyton batholith. GLACIATION St. Croix and Taylor (1991) report a complex ice-flow history for the region, having at lest four separate ice-flow events. The earliest ice-flow direction was east-southeast, followed by a second ice-flow direction trending north-northeast. The third ice-flow event ranged from a northeast flow in the west of the study area to a northwest flow in the east. The most recent ice-flow event was a local small-scale east-southeast-trending event recorded only in the west of the study area. Baird (1958) shows striations within the immediate vicinity of our claims ranging from northerly to north-northwesterly. FLUORIDE IN WATER AND SOIL Harris (1973) reported 3 well water samples with high fluoride values in excess of 2 ppm. The 2 highest values (4.0 and 3.5 ppm.) are located at Joe Batt s Arm (Lic M) and the 3 rd high value (2.1 ppm.) is at Fogo Central High School (Lic M). Tilsley (1972) discussed fluorspar exploration techniques and fluorine geochemistry. He indicated that solubility of CaF2 decreases rapidly from 8.76 mg/kg H2O at 23C toward near zero at the freezing point. Waters examined from the St. Lawrence Area ranged from less than 0.2 ppm to maximum of 2.8 ppm. He stated a fluorine anomaly is defined as a group of samples which show a fluoride content which exceeds the regional background by a factor of at least 2. Background values usually range between 0.05 and 0.30 ppm fluorine. Tilsley (1972) reported that there is often little mixing of surface and ground waters in the St. Lawrence Area due to the presence of an impermeable placon layer of iron and manganese oxides. It is likely that a similar condition exists at Fogo Island and partially explains the lack of Fluoride in surface waters. Tilsley (1975) observed that the contribution rate of fluorine by fluorite to neutral water is relatively constant until concentrations of between 1.5 and 2.2 ppm Fluoride in water have been reached. 4

7 Harris (2010) reported fluoride values for 219 water samples. High values include 1.9 from well supply at Fogo Central High School. 1 value of 4ppm, 2 of 3ppm, 1 of 1.7, 1 of 1.4, and 5 other values at or above the 0.5 ppm level, all in the Fogo Central Area. Harris (2011) reported values from 13 soil samples on licence 18908M, noting that the 2 highest values (170 and 130 ppm) appear to be close to the trend of anomalous fluoride in well waters reported in He recommended that additional soil sampling be completed in wet areas using an auger with extensions to sample below wet areas; and that detailed geological mapping should be completed in vicinity of well locations with high fluoride values with outlines of outcrops shown and joint orientations and dykes noted. Harris (2012) reported results of a test program to determine if soil samples could be recovered from beneath a bog using extension augers. Sampling was attempted at 17 sites with No Sample Available at 10 sites. The highest fluoride value reported was 300ppm with 3 other values at or above 200 ppm. SOILGEOCHEMICAL SURVEY 7 soil samples were collected during an extension of 2012 test program to determine if soil samples could be recovered from beneath a bog using extension augers. Sampling was attempted at 19 sites with No Sample Available at 12 sites. Complete Analytical data are enclosed in Appendix 2. All sample locations were recorded on Garmin etrex H GPS units. A complete listing of GPS data and sample/test depths is included in Appendix 3. The highest fluoride value reported was 770 ppm with 1 other values of 390 ppm. Sample SF-13 was subjected to duplicate analysis at Lab with results of 170 and 270 ppm suggesting a nonuniform distribution of Fluoride in sample. Lab procedures and results are enclosed in Appendix 2. Complete current year and historical values are shown on maps F013-4&5. The grouping of highest values from 2012 and 2013 sampling along highway may indicate that highway was built along the most likely structure for fluoride mineralization Prospecting observations were made during Geochemical Survey Traverses. All Traverse lines as recorded by GPS are shown on maps F012-2&3. No mineralization was observed. RECOMMENDATIONS No further work is recommended at this time. 17 METHOD SUMMRY Total Fluoride in Soil The soil sample is fused with sodium hydroxide and then extracted. The fluoride in extract is determined potentiometrically using a combination specific ion fluoride electrode containing a silver/silver chloride reference electrode. The agent used for the extraction is NaOH, DI Water, and concentrated HCl.
