3 F NTRODUCTON The Maid claims are located about 0km northwest of the town of Cache Creek on the Maiden Creek drainage. Access is by a good logging road which leaves Highway at a point about km north of the junction of Highways and. These claims were staked in early over the catchment basins of two small creeks which were highly anomalous in gold as shown by a heavy mineral stream sediment survey done in. The author spent days prospecting and soil sampling the property in an attempt to find the source of the heavy mineral anomalies. - -

6 GEOLOGY The geology of the region is mapped on Geological Survey of Canada Open File 0. This map shows the property to be underlain by a graben structure filled with chert pebble conglomerates of Cretaceous age, bounded on the east by Cache Creek Complex volcanics and on the west by carbonates of the Cache Creek Complex, Marble Canyon Formation. Most of the property is underlain by the conglomerates. Geochemistry Ninety six soil samples were collected from the Bl horizon along lines as shown on the accompanying sample location map. Sample spacing on the lines is. meters. The samples were placed in kraft paper bags and sent to Bondar-Clegg and Company Ltd. in North Vancouver and were analysed for gold plus other elements. The results are shown in appendix. - -
7 CONCLUSONS AND RECOMMENDATONS Preliminary soil sampling in the catchment basin of two heavy mineral anomalies has indicated areas of anomalous gold and silver values. No bedrock source for these anomalous precious metal values has been discovered as bedrock exposure is very poor. The extensive cover of glacial till in this area, which varies greatly in thickness, may necessitate a change in future soil sampling techniques. More work is definitely required to find the source of the anomalies. Paul A. Ziebart - -
