1 SUMMARY Gunsteel Resources Incorporated holds 100% title to the CHILKO 1-6 claims in the headwaters area of Rainbow Creek. They cover the area southwest of Rainbow Creek, west of Tchaikazan River and south of Spectrum Peak. The prospecting program has delineated a large zone of alteration and sulphide mineralization. The sulphides consist of pyrite and arsenopyrite with minor zones of malachite. The rock types are volcanic breccia, lapilli tuffs, hornfels, lamprophyre, granodiorite, shales, argillite, sandstone, and conglomerates. These rocks are identified by field observation only and may not be precise. The field program was carried out by A. Raven and E. Raven, during the period of September 11 to September 20, 1986, inclusive. CONCLUSION The results of this field investigation are very encouraging. Three zones of interest were determined as follows: 1) the very large area at the head of drainage pattern (D.P.) #2 which is a large zone of intense alteration with pyrite and arsenopyrite mineralization; 2) the zone of hornfels? containing malachite and azurite in the top end at the 7,800 foot level of D.P. #l; and 3) the small zone of intense alteration at the 6,500 foot level of D.P. #2. The whole area between D.P. #1 and D.P. #2 is heavily fractured with a large pyrite halo and a very large zone of silicification. These conclusions are drawn without the results of analytical services which are in Appendix I. Analyses of the samples for gold and mercury gave inconclusive results. Only a single sample contained detectable gold (60 parts per billion) and anomalous mercury appeared to be associated with the myriad minor dykes and intrusions as opposed to the zone of alteration. Preliminary mapping and prospecting suggests the property may host a

2 mineral deposit similar to the Fish Lake deposit; however, additional mapping and sampling are required to properly test the property's potential. RECOMMENDATIONS The property should be mapped and sampled at a scale of 1:5,000 detail utilizing lines 200 metres apart and sampled every 100 metres. Additional samples should be collected from zones of veining, brecciation and/or alteration. Prior to the field program, samples collected in 1986 should be analyzed by I.C.P. The estimated cost for the program outlined is $40,000.

4 INTRODUCTION Gunsteel Resources Incorporated holds title to the CHILKO 1-6 claims comprised of 120 units in the Chilko Lake area of British Columbia. The claims were staked based on anomalous results obtained by a lithogeochemical and geological survey by G. P. McLaren (1985, 1987) and the 1979 regional geochemical survey conducted by the B.C. Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. The claims have the potential of hosting either epithermal gold mineralization similar to the Lord River Gold Mine (31,000 tonnes grading 314 oz/t Au and oz/t Ag [George Cross Newsletter, No. 183, September 22, 19801) found eight kilometres east of the property, or a porphyry copper-gold deposit like the Fish Lake property (200 million tons grading 0.24% Cu and oz/t Au) lying 20 kilometres to the northeast. The following report summarizes a lithogeochemical and prospecting program carried out by A. Raven and E. Raven from September 11th to September 20th, LOCATION. ACCESS AND PHYSIOGRAPHY The CHILKO 1-6 claims are located in the Coast Mountain Range approximately 250 kilometres north of Vancouver (Figures 1 and 2). The claims are accessible by helicopter only. Charter helicopter service is available out of Pemberton and Lillooet. The north ends of Chilko and Taseko Lakes are accessible by unpaved roads. The property is rugged. Steep-sided mountains are interspersed by wide, glacially carved valleys. Relief on the claims is over 3,500 feet (1050 metres). The elevation ranges from 5,500 feet (1675 metres) along the Tchaikazan River to over 9,000 feet (2,750 metres) at an unnamed peak in the centre of the claims. A mature growth of spruce, fir and lodgepole pine found along the lower valleys gives way to alpine scrub at around 6,000 feet (1825 metres). The highest peaks are barren of vegetation.

5 CLAIM DATA Gunsteel Resources Incorporated holds 100% title to the CHILKO 1-6 claims located in the Clinton Mining Division of British Columbia (Figure 3). This report completes the requirements of the purchase agreement dated August 29, 1986, whereby Gunsteel acquires 100% interest from Robert Dickinson. Present status of the claims prior to acceptance of this report by the B.C. Department of Mines is as follows: Claim Name Claim Number CHILKO CHILKO CHILKO CHILKO CHILKO CHILKO Expiry Date March 4, 1987 March 4, 1987 March 4, 1987 March 4, 1987 March 4, 1987 March 4, 1987 HISTORY Exploration in the Chilko-Taseko Lakes area dates b k prio to 1910 with the discovery and development of the Morris Mine property (G.S.C., Summary Report, 1924). Prospecting in subsequent years led to the discovery of the Daisie property (Cu, W), the Alexis property (Cu, Hg, As, Sb) the Lord River Gold Mine property (Au) and the Charlie property (Au, As). The latter two properties have been explored continuously by various companies up to the 1980's. The mapping and lithogeochemical work performed by McLaren in 1985 and 1986, and the 1979 regional geochemical survey, highlights the CHILKO claims as potentially hosting epithermal gold or porphyry copper-gold mineralization. A review of available literature indicates that only a portion of the CHILKO 1-6 claims have previously been explored. Dupont of Canada

6 Ltd. (Smith, 1981) undertook a limited (37 samples in total) soil, stream and rock geochemical program over their SPEC and RUM claims. Of 30 stream silts collected, five returned gold concentrations exceeding the detection limit of 5 ppb, the highest value being 150 ppb. Dupont considered these values to be background levels and subsequently dropped the claims. The claims were acquired by D. J. Brownlee who staked them in February, The claims were sold to R. Dickinson in 1986 and resold to Gunsteel Resources Incorporated later that same yearo 1986 EXPLORATION PROGRAM The purpose of this investigation was to trace anom lous value in rock and stream geochemical surveys. The rock geochemical anomalies are a result of work by G. P. McLaren and stream sediment anomalies are the result of a regional survey performed by the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources O.F. #920. Rock samples are all grab samples of rock units designed to be representative of the immediate outcrop area. These samples are to be anlaysed for gold and mercury at Rossbacher Laboratory Ltd. in Burnaby, B.C. All samples were placed in heavy plastic sample bags, individually numbered and weighed between 0.5 kg to 2.5 kg. A total of 51 samples were taken for analyses. Plotting of sample and outcrop locations was controlled by the use of 1:5,000 scale topographic maps and a pocket altimeter with some checks being made by triangulation using prominent topographic features and Brunton compass. The investigation was concentrated on the CHILKO 1 and CHILKO 4 mineral claims. The prospecting was carried out by A. Raven, a prospector with 16 years experience in the mineral exploration field, and an assistant, E. Raven, with five years experience.

7 GEOLOGY Regional Geology The project area is underlain by a sequence of Middle Triassic to Upper Cretaceous volcanics and sediments (Tipper Coast Plutonic Complex). This overall sequence is cut by numerous northwest trending high angle faults with right lateral displacement up to 100 kilometres. A few north-northeast trending high angle faults are also present. Mr. G. P. McLaren carried out a field program during the summer of 1985 to assess the geology and mineral potential of the area (Figures 4 and 5). McLaren divided the stratified rocks into seven units. Argillite, greywacke and minor tuffs comprise unit 1 with dacitic to basaltic pyroclastics and flows with minor rhyolite tuffs comprising unit 2. Unit 2 commonly exhibits chlorite and epidote alteration. Unit 3 is mainly purple andesitic pyroclastics and breccias. Unit 4 is comprised of argillite, siltstone with minor limy sediments, tuffs and flows. Unit 5 is subdivided into two subunits; unit 5a being a volcaniclastic unit of dacitic to basaltic pyroclastics, flows, breccias and minor sediments. Unit 5b is a sedimentary unit of argillite, siltstone, sandstone and conglomerate. Unit 6 is comprised of argillite, quartzite, arkose and minor volcanic flows and tuffs. Unit 7 comprised of andesitic to basaltic pyroclastics and flows. The contacts between these units appear to be conformable and, in the case of the lower units, gradational. Three sets of intrusive rocks intrude this sequence of stratified rocks in three semi-distinct northwest trending bands. Unit A occurs in a band south of and along the Tchaikazan fault as a number of small hornblende diorite stocks. Unit B occurs in a band north of the Tchaikazan fault and is composed of feldspar and biotite feldspar porphyrys of possible Eocene age. Unit C forms the southern boundary of the area and is composed of granodiorites and quartz diorites of the Coast Plutonic Complex. The structure of the area is dominated by northwest trending high

8 angle faults with numerous splays. The major northwest fault is the Tchaikazan and shows more than 30 kilometres of right lateral displacment. Two north-northeast trending high angle faults cut the sequence and northwest trending faults. These faults show as prominent fractures or as silicified and quartz carbonate altered fault breccias. A northeastward thrust fault has emplaced unit 2 over unit 5 on Mt. Goddard. Local Geology The geological mapping and rock identification for this report was done by field observation only without support from laboratory findings (Figures 6 and 7). The rock types as used in this report are volcanic breccia, lapilli tuff, hornfels, argillite, shale, sandstone, conglomerate, lamprophyre, and granodiorite as determined by myself in the field, with reference to G. P. McLaren. Only one area of volcanic breccia was located. The lapilli tuff are highly silicified (welded) over much of the area examined with pyrite content to 10%. This unit is very thick, up to 300 metres of vertical exposure, with extensive fracturing in areas of structural disturbance. Pyrite mineralization is in the fracture fillings with some penetration into the rock. The tuffs weather a red-brown when mineralized with pyrite and are light coloured where shears allow bleaching of the unit. The hornfels are a dark fine-grained silicious unit which is the only unit that carried positively identified copper mineralization. The granodiorite is a 'normal' intrusive unit by field observation. The lamprophyre is an extension of the granodiorite and is fine to medium grained. Some areas of lamprophyre are altered to carbonate zones within the other rock units. The lamprophyre dykes cut granodiorite, tuffs, and in one case the hornfels. The carbonate zones and on some contact areas are, I believe, altered lamprophyre dykes. In only one case did I see a carbonate zone with malachite and that was a

9 contact with hornfels in drainage pattern #2 at 7,070 feet (2155 metres). The overlying sedimentary unit consisting of argillites, shales, sandstone, and conglomerates is not visibly mineralized. I believe this unit which is overlain by a granodiorite (McLaren) was emplaced by a thrust fault. As far as I can determine the intense alteration zones are controlled by structure. These zones are distinguished by a bleached, very porous, at times silicious, light coloured rock. I cannot determine the rock unit that has been altered from the field observations to date. It is possible that these zones of intense alteration were lapilli tuffs and/or the hornfels unit with the mineralizing solutions controlled by structure. These zones contain the only arsenopyrite observed on the property as well as a good proportion of pyrite. The sulphide mineralization is in blebs and individual grains fill a portion of the holes in this very porous rock. The major exposure of this zone of alteration is at the top end of drainage pattern #2 with a vertical exposure of 100 metres and a lateral exposure of 300 metres. This zone is the prime target area at this time as determined from field observations. There is another exposure of intense bleaching similar to the one at the top of D.P. #2. It is located at the 6,500 foot level (1981 metres) in D.P.#2. This zone is less than 100 square metres in area, Traverses were carried out primarily in drainage patterns and ridges as most other slopes were covered with talus. The main area of interest was topographically below an overlying sedimentary unit of unaltered argillites, shales, sandstone, and conglomerate. This sedimentary sequence usually was the highest level of our traverses with the bottom of the valleys forming the low parts of the traverse. The following is a detailed account of observations made during these traverses using elevations and topography. (Drainage patterns in the main area of interest are numbered for ease of reference. See Figure 6.)

On east side of drainage, granodiorite again exposed; and north of granodiorite outcrop, an exposure of silicified tuff and continuing northward at the same elevation granodiorite again exposed. This traverse was terminated before the sedimentary unit was encountered because of lack of mineralization or altered rock in the talus slopes.

14 GEOCHEMICAL INTERPRETATION Only one of the rock samples collected (Sample #631020, Figure 6) contained above detection limit gold concentration (60 ppb). The source outcrop is described as a dark fine grained rock, possibly a lamprophyre dyke containing pyrite and copper staining. Mercury is locally anomalous. Enrichments range from 200 to 2,000 ppb. Regional backround is less than 100 ppb. A general correlation is observed between mercury concentration and the proximity of sample sites to lamprophyre dykes or Coast Mountain granodiorite intrusions. Evidently, the intrusions acted as local concentrators of mercury. Zones of alterations sampled gave background concentrations for both gold and mercury. The results of the survey are inconclusive. The probability of finding mineralization similar to the Fish Lake deposit in association with the granodiorite intrusion on the property is believed to be good based on geological descriptions. Additional sampling and analyses for more than two elements is necessary to prove or disprove the property's potential.
